      Zion was bein groomed to be the face of a multi billion dollar league, in a hypothetical with no injuries he might have been the face of the league and his career earning potential at one point could have been a lot over a billion as salaries are going up and Lebron is the first but wont be the last billionaire still playing the league is going to produce going forward. As is tho, the current trajectory he is on already probably cost him a lot of that, he still has the ability to turn it around and earn a ton of money and he has earned 100s of millions already but he's lost more than he's earned in future earnings at this point too. Maximizing your earning potential is a big thing for a pro athlete when they lose the ability to play and retire from their profession in their late 30s and edge cases early 40s. He also doesn't seem to be trending to get into the HOF which is sad since there are tons of less talented dudes going to get in there than him. All that being said he's a special talent and I hope he can get his body and mind right and realize his potential. Seems like a nice guy n shit too, want him to succeed. Would be amazing to watch

    Since coming back from this latest injury Zion has been absolutely phenomenal and looks to be in his best shape since Duke. He slimmed down so much I couldn’t find him on the court when looking to see if he was put back in the game. Yet all I see is video after video shitting on him everyday when he obviously was putting in work. Maybe a little positivity in the world would encourage people to try their best instead of tearing them down when they are performing their best.

    Paul Pierce is an idiot. Why should the Heat give a broken down, oft-injured, tempermental soon-to-be 36 year player $110 million+ contract extension? No one in the league is going to give Butler that kind of money over 2 years. He's going to find out real quick this summer what the market will offer him.

    • @Steve-eh4db
      @Steve-eh4db 9 днів тому

      Exactly. If you want to stay on the team, your value is not the same value as you were in your prime. Butler's prime was two or three years ago. That's what contracts are for. Jimmy's contract runs through the end of next year. Riley signed him up through his prime's limit. Jimmy wants to hold The Heat hostage for 2 seasons. He should of signed a 8-10 year contract, 5 years ago, where Riley would of told, "Sorry, we really like you, but we can't pay you top dollar at ages 38, 39 & 40, like you were at ages 30, 31, 32."

    • @Steve-eh4db
      @Steve-eh4db 9 днів тому

      He pulled the same crap in Minny & Philly. In Minny, I thought he was right, as Wiggins & Towns were immature. But now I see that Jimmy thinks a little too much of himself. Contracts don't mean anything anymore. Bunch of prima donnas in the NBA today. Use big wig agents to sign contracts & then try to back out in the ladder part of the contract.

I remember Ditka saying if somebody got dinged on the field, they would hold up their hand and ask "how many fingers I got up?" If they guessed riy, they would throw them back on the field. When you know better, you do better. Players should not be forced to play if they are truly hurt. One of the things that made me livid was when I was hurt, and some stupid punk questioned me on what I felt:
      Never question a legit injury. Respect what come out of people's mouths.

I look at Kobe hitting his free throws after tearing his ACL. Or Isaiah Thomas scoring 25 in 4th quarter on a bum ankle against the Showtime lakers in the finals and think people back them were just built different. Every game LBJ is questionable for “foot sourness” or “back tightness” or “elbow bruise.” Not saying everyone is like that but people like LBJ are pathetic.

    The fact is, what Scottie said was on point. These players, in all three big sports, NBA, NFL, MLB, arent worried or DRIVEN anymore to win.
    The mentality is to play hard to get that huge contract, and once they cash the check, it becomes all about me me me.
    Butler is 35. He knows his game is getting slower, injuries come easier, and the young guys are faster.
    This is what Jordan meant when he said guys are getting too much money way too soon. The mentality of these sports has changed as much as the games have. There is a lot of animosity between players now because of the huge paydays.
    And now that theyve decided to start paying college students, its only going to get worse.

    One you can do for a limited amount of time the other you can do until you die.
    It’s the same attitude that comes from shut up and dribble. You supposed to entertain me that’s it that’s all.
    Once you don’t do what people want you to do how they want you to do it then they no longer for you and in many cases try to diminish you.

    With the enormous attention and revenue footprint the leagues has today, the players of today also must participate in countless Media obligations and extracurricular obligations relative to the the players of the PIPPEN era, that is an additional mental toll added to the modern player in addition to the physical toll from the game and practices + conditioning.

    The team owners have prioritized business over winning championships, and they bear much of the responsibility for this shift. Players are left with no choice but to adapt or risk being left behind. Since teams aren't required to win championships to remain in the league, it's easier for them to focus on other objectives that don’t involve competing for the title. Additionally, the league has altered the game to appeal to international audiences. These changes have made the game softer but faster, driven by a variety of strategic and commercial reasons.

    His bball accolades aside Scottie was always pretty much a joke after he retired playing... guy had like 8 or 9 kids with several different women and was always a distraction when he became an official ambassador for the Bulls for a few years a real pillar of the community. No tippin' Pippen was just one of a few nicknames he earned over the years.

    Zion's career as a player won't last, but most importantly, his career as a Krispy Kreme patron will.

    From a business perspective, it's guaranteed money. Some make it, some don't, but good guaranteed compensation is a great backup.

    This why so many folks are switching to NCAA, and Eurobasket. Local D1 team ain’t even a top team and their games are awesome to go see live.
