Cechaflo, Great tutorials. I have an 11 video series on a boat cushions. Started this 1 and 1/2 years ago as hobby. I currently do boat cushions and bimini tops. I learned from videos on UA-cam. Your videos have given me an added insight into things I do and things that are too difficult for me to tackle at this point in time.I do my work for free and charge for materials, everything I do is 100% better than what I started with and my clients are always happy... Some projects I do are perfect (not like yours) and others have flaws that only you and I would see....lol !! pdanker1, Jules Danker...
Jules Danker Hi Jules, Great! you have found these videos useful...I think to this point of your upholstery learning process, have realized that everything is summarized in some sewings/trims: 1. The most important and basic sewing, 'the blind sewing' as it name says, used to close the pieces of our project. 2. 'flat-felled/oversewing stitches used to decorate and reinforce on top of material. 3. 'French seams/double stitches' o top, mostly used as decorative and should be reinforced with a backing on the reverse. 4. 'Welting/Piping' used to decorate and reinforce the edges of our projects. 5. 'The binding', a very useful 'trim' to give the finish to the edges of our project. Besides, we find the 'channels with on-top sewing ' and 'channels with inside-hidden sewing'(like the one of this video) Furthermore, it is important to take into account the sewing machine/tools and the materials. Check these links for 'marine vinyl and 'marine thread': www.dltcorporation.com/SearchResults.asp?Search=marine+vinyl (it has warehouses in Michigan, Illinois, Wisconsin, Kentucky) www.albrightssupply.com/category-s/1895.htm (the main warehouse is located in Corinth, Mississippi www.superiorthreads.com/shop/category/?q=marine+thread This an interesting and useful forum to get in: www.thehogring.com/auto-upholstery-forum/

These videos are really helpful. Thank you for sharing your skill. I'm learning to upholster so I can work on our family project cars and you're showing me just whet I need to know. Brilliant.
+Barry Jones I'm so happy the videos are useful! ...most of these videos are basics that would be of great help to perform real upholstery projects in a near future. If you like this design, try to use a 'high density foam' to preserve the shape of the pleats for a long time...maybe, you want to use the traditional tuck'n roll materials cotton, horse hair, etc.
Cechaflo I just started upholstery to be able to do my own classics that I restore myself. Youd videos are exactly what I neef to do it right. Thank hou for the videos and your invested time!
Nice job....I've had pen bleed thru the material and stain the top side .. so I don't use or anymore... also to prevent thread jam I see the piece off onto a scrap of different material
Great video as usual, I have just bought a sewing machine and some vinyl to make my own car seat covers using this technique for the center panels. Would you use a french stitch to join this to the surrounding unpleated vinyl on sides of seats?
Do you prefer a PFAFF 1245 over the JUKI 1541s if you had a choice? I like your machine in the videos Sir. Thank you for all of your wonderful and educational videos. You are a true master at this craft.
+Booth Covers I'd choose the new version pfaff 1245, 8 mm stitch length, original, made in Germany . The Juki dnu 1541s is also a very powerful and good sewing machine; it has a 9 mm stitch length and a jumbo bobbin also...supposedly, these machines are japanese but if I'm right are manufactured in China. The same happens with some pfaff 1245 which are manufactured in China also...they do not have the embossed serial number plate in the back...they have a sticker instead. My sewing machine is a pfaff 1245-706/47, 'old version', original, 6 mm stitch lenght and standard or short bobbin. Thanks for following me on you tube!
Hi I live in Balaton mn USA. I am making my own door panels with 1/8" pvc panel board. What is the fabric on the backing? Can I use the all purpose glue to attach the finished vinyl upholstery to the panel board?
It is not necessary to glue the vinyl to the foam. In case of doing a vehicle seat with this design it is advisable the use of piping to join the edges.

Great video, will have to try this out! Do you glue the vinyl to the foam after?
It is not necessary to glue the vinyl to the foam. In case of doing a vehicle seat with this design it is advisable the use of piping to join the edges.

thank you for your videos .can you tell me is the singer 196k205 good for doing this job.thank you eddie
Hello Eddie, The machine you are asking about is not the ideal to do upholstery, but you can easily do the job I am showing in the video.
+Cechaflo thank you I will look for a better one for upholstery.

Thanks for watching these videos!
+Cechaflo thank you for your videos .

Hey' why you give me the finger...6:05 You do Craftsmans work Nice!
Como se coseria en aciento o respaldo?
Regularmente, estos diseños se deben coser con 'vivo' alrededor de los bordes.
Ok muchas gracias
