First youtube vid that showed a full and correct oil change for a Meanie. Good stuff! Thanks a bunch, didn't know about the left side oil screen, so that's good to know.
Yep it's always nervous doing something for the first time. Do you have a manual for the bike it is sometimes good to see the procedure actually written down also.
Just picked up my Mean Streak yesterday, identical colour to yours. Ordered tyres today and picked up some maintenance goodies, thank you for all your Mean Streak videos, they are going to be a huge help to me! Do you ever miss yours after all this time?
Awesome enjoy the bike, good to get some maintenance done when your first get a bike. Yes from time to time I loved the look and sound of the bike, just wasn't practical for the riding I tend to do. Did a few good trips on it though that we won't forget
For those in the USA, NAPA Gold filters are top notch and highly recommended. Also, fill the filter anyway! Fill it up once and watch how much oil it soaks up. Poof, gone! Depending on filter brand and how dense the element is, you can top off the filter twice and it will have soaked up enough oil to be able to screw it on without any oil dripping out.
Heads up to any US based Meanstreak owners. Some were recalled long ago to have their normal screw on oil filter attachment replaced with a reusable oil filter housing that has an oil cartridge inside. Once they're converted like this, a normal screw in oil filter like the KN204 that Revzilla tells you to get will not fit. You have to order the filter cartridge from a Kawasaki dealer if this is the case. They still have them available to order at the time of this comment. You can tell this recall change has been made if you look at the filter and it's a solid metal housing with Kawasaki lettering on it. I was mid oil change when i found this out and my K&N filter didn't fit.
Great video, I just replaced the chain extentioners thanks to your video on that subject. Just curious, what is the aftermarket air filter system you are running? Looks really cool...!
Hey great video I've had my mean streak for two seasons now and I never knew about the oil screen. So thank you so much for letting me know about that. I'm wondering if you changed that o ring and if so what's the part number cause I want to change it when I do my next oil change
A big coin would be the best. Depending where you live should get one that is a tight fit in the hole. If you can't get it out with that try putting an adjustable spanner on the coin for more leverage. If it's still tight give it a light heat with a hair dryer or similar. On refitting put a bit of grease on the rubber seal.
@@MOTODANS well I went to get large washers and maybe a wrench will work. I live in Texas. I did the large screwdriver no go. Hope this idea works. Will report back sir. Oh yeah got a 2002 mean steak
Washers should work, just try and get it tight as you can in the slot. If using washers you could even stick a screwdriver through the hole for leverage
Hey Dans, I live in Mexico and thanks to your video, I did my first oil change in my meanstreak., I only have one question, what kind of liquid did you use to clean the little filter with the spring on?,,,,thanks mate.
Stock exhaust has just had the cat cut off. Looks like it has just been cut flush with the pipes then a plate welded to cover the hole. Was done before I got the bike.
Changed oil, filter, screen etc. Rode about 50 miles and the oil light came on, sinking feeling, went off when on the closed throttle with engine brake. Managed to get home, another 50 miles of sheer hell. Put a remote oil gauge where the pressure switch is and still nothing. Removed the gauge, with hose still attached a large glug of air came out. Turns out it was an airlock between the filter and pressure switch. All is still well, thank fook. Love my Meanie. Like your vids. Here's a vid when finished, Phew! ua-cam.com/video/MGrT-n-saKc/v-deo.html
@@MOTODANS Happens sometimes on cars, never had it on a bike before. Spent most of my working life in the bike/car trade. But if an airlock occures try bleeding from the pressure switch. You've some good roads and weather out there. I'm back in the UK after living in the wide spaces of SA. UK sux. by the way have a '06 Meany 10k on the clock. Great bikes just not for London roads.....LOL!
For someone who hasn't wrenched on motorcycles before your videos are invaluable! Thank you for taking the time to make them 😚
No problems, thanks for watching 👍

Thanks Nathaniel.
You're the man, get again, for this. I too have a Mean Streak and I need to do an oil change and I'm nervous.
Go for it. It's pretty simple on this machine!
I've got to give it a go. Honestly, I feel that my apprehension is based on unfamiliarity and being afraid of messing it up the first time. We'll see.
Yep it's always nervous doing something for the first time. Do you have a manual for the bike it is sometimes good to see the procedure actually written down also.
I do. What I think I'll do is take it to a local mororcycle garage to have it done and watch them.
Thank you so much for this video, very helpful.

Not sure it was on the bike when i bought it. Looks like a universal pod filter off a car. I since replaced it with a barons big air kit
Thanks to you i made servis on my mean streak 😉
Nice work!

Hey moto dans. Have a question. I can't get my oil cap off to put oil in. Any ideas???

Can you do a video for coolant Change please.
Have one recorded just need to make it into a video 👍

Hey Raul, glad I could help. I just used brake cleaner how ever kerosene or similar would do the same job for cleaning that.
Use brake cleaner
Have you ever done the front suspension seals? I'm looking to do that on my own but have never done so.
Not yet, but one of mine started leaking on the bike last trip so will be doing them in the next few months 👍
Please show your exhaust modification

That is very strange. If it was something you did it would have come on straight away rather than 50 miles later. Glad you got it sorted!
