Went makeup free and never went back. Honestly people should do what makes them feel good about themselves whether it’s wearing makeup or not.
The thing is: unhealthy coping mechanisms make people happy, so "just do what makes you happy" shouldn't be the end all be all answer. Like the video points out, if the person has been using it as a way to change their face due to "imperfections", make up is an psychological unhealthy habit.
I know it's politically charged to tell someone to reconsider make up use, but that's the point of the video
@auricia201 What are you on about?? If someone wants to wear makeup they 100% can and there is no problem with that. If you don't want to wear makeup that is fine too. There is nothing wrong with wearing makeup. Wearing makeup is about enhancing your features. I've seen you in this comment section talking about how makeup is about covering your features and that is not true at all. Makeup is fun. We don't put it on because we want to hide our face. You cannot change your facial features no matter how much makeup you put on. Makeup is not an unhealthy coping mechanism for anything, it's an art form. I don't care if you don't wear makeup, but don't put other women down for wearing it. You aren't just putting down insecure women in this comment section, but women who wear makeup as a whole. You literally replied to a comment telling people to do what makes them happy with "actually no, don't do what makes you happy! Makeup is bad!". Get a grip and grow up. There are thousands of different makeup styles, you've been focusing on instagram makeup in this comment section. Instagram makeup is not an every day thing, it's just for show. What you see online is not the same as what the average woman wears.

It seems like you're very insecure of what you are doing, if that's all it takes for you to feel bad, so maybe you should indeed reconsider if make up is good for you or not
I never even started wearing makeup. I noticed how much more confidence I have in myself than my friends who do. But also how people just treat me worse. I hate makeup.
just recently i was taking off my makeup and started crying because i wore makeup so much that i forgot that i was beautiful either way. Now i don’t wear makeup anymore but im still getting used to it
I used to wear 10-15 different makeup products a day and slowly overtime cut it back. Now I only wear tinted lip balm and occasionally concealer if I have a pimple, and my confidence in myself has never been better. I used to be super insecure and wouldn’t leave the house to do even basic things like go to the grocery store without a full face of makeup. It’s super freeing to just go without it and my skin has vastly improved! I think makeup can be a really great thing for many, but I was definitely wearing it for all the wrong reasons.
I’ve just started it’s my third day, I can relate so much about doing a full face just to go get groceries, yesterday I finally went to get some without any makeup and I felt that freeing feeling 🥹🙌🏽🌟 makes me feel so happy and I’m so happy for you too doing the same thing we got this 😊🫶🏽
It's crazy, when I was little I thought makeup was face paint..I had no idea people wore makeup everyday.

I’m 1 week into my makeup free journey in a bid to improve my skin and confidence in myself and so far I’ve felt more clean, confident in myself and proud of myself for doing it. I’ve worn makeup everyday since I was 15 ish and I’m now 24 so it’s been a long time wearing makeup constantly!!
I wouldn’t even leave the house with out it. It’s been so hard to leave the house this week and go to work but I’m so proud of myself for doing it, my acne’s improved and I’m starting to feel so much better about myself 😊
I think it depends on how involved makeup is in your life. I love makeup and using it but my life doesn’t revolve around it, like I put it on maybe once a week at best

I parent wear makeup and I stopped wearing any concealer or foundation so I can see the blush on my real skin no need to cover anything and I love it . I would really tell young girls to take care of the skin care routing more than makeup .

I decided to stop wearing makeup today, I want my skin to breathe for once.
All the f chemicals caused cancers too maybe.
I haven’t worn makeup for over a year now. I’m completely comfortable not wearing it at all. I find myself thinking should I wear it? Is there something wrong with me that I have no desire to wear it? I feel completely free of not wearing it. Instead I spend money on good skin, hair, and body care/hygiene products. When I think about it the only “makeup” I wear now is lip balm or clear gloss and clear brow gel. My brows are bushy.
As a female who never wear any (no pick me chill just sayin) i see this as absolute win

I honestly got really depressed and stopped taking care of a myself or doing anything extra. So that meant I stopped wearing makeup. Thought I didn’t stop for the right reason so I think that’s why it made me feel worse not to wear make up
We’re not telling ourselves, everyone else makes everyone else very aware or every flaw we all have.
I have acne scars and I’m super insecure about them, I wear concealer everyday. But after watching this I’m going to try and not wear makeup for 2 weeks and see if it’s true ❤

I haven’t worn makeup in a while. I can’t remember the last time I wore it. If you expect others to accept you for who you are, then you should accept yourself for who you are.
I love make up a lot and I’ve always liked wearing a bunch of it to do fun stuff like colorful eyeshadow and eyeliner, but I will say since I want more natural, I don’t feel confident enough to where the other stuff too and not only feel comfortable with that and I feel comfortable in my own skin now. I would definitely say if you’re insecure to try and do this, but it doesn’t mean you have to stop altogether

I love my face without and with makeup ... sometimes i dont wear makeup even for a month, and then i go back and do makeup regularly, i just do it for fun ...

Makeup is what makes me happy it’s a way I can express my art like I do with my clothing. I am an artist and been getting in to doing my eye makeup or sfx makeup. I get people asking me everyday to teach them how to do the stuff I do. So if people be judging me for wearing a lot of makeup that’s your problem it makes me happy so just swallow away in your sorrow life because you think you are better because you aren’t that “fake”. You shouldn’t put others down to make you feel superior. *I’m saying this about some comments here and things people say to me.

I played around with it in my teens but I didn’t like it. I looked clownish and it wasn’t my face. I didn’t like that way it felt on my face and it made me sweat which left steaks down my forehead.
Every once in a while I’ll wear mascara and a slightly tinted lip gloss but that’s rare.
If applied correctly, makeup can be really pretty. My friends get complimented a lot. But it never looks quite right on my face.
Can anybody provide a link about the study? Can't find something like it. Plus apa don't do studies themselves.

from my perspective (as a boy) i feel like it is some type of drug almost everyone uses since it was released, but those who stop realise why men don’t do it.
My opinion is that wear makeup if it makes you feel confident not because you’re insecure, makeup simply enhance your natural beauty, and if you want to be bare face ok to . Do what makes you feel good.

I wear makeup when I feel like it because it is fun and actually forces me to have a diligent nighttime skincare routine. When I feel like it, I wear makeup when I am alone at home with nowhere to go and will love it. And when I'm not in the mood, I feel perfectly fine going out, whether to eat or meet friends or run errands with my bare face. Let's not make women who enjoy makeup feel like they are necessarily insecure, and giving up makeup does not necessarily equal freedom. Do what makes YOU feel comfortable in your one body.
All my friends have makeup caked in their face, they call me weird because I won’t wear any, like sis y’all be lookin like you belong in the red light district in Amsterdam 😂

I literally never wear makeup. I only wear makeup on some days. Makeup for me is not a daily thing but maybe ill do it once a month.
I think I look great without makeup, but I love makeup because it is art, just like fashion and hairstyles. I suppose this applies to women who believe they need makeup because they're flawed. If makeup makes someone feel good, I do not see a problem with that. Everyone does something to feel good. It is a great idea to move away from criticizing individual choices based on personal insecurities that is for sure.
