That's why Putin starting the actual war was such a dumbass decision. He tanked his country's future for a regressive war of land conquest which wouldn't really do him any good even had he won. He could have been much more troublesome for years to come had he diverted all of his resources to undermining democracies from the inside. Don't get me wrong, they absolutely still do that, but now they don't have as many resources for that since they have to keep feeding the meat grinder.

Why is there no democracy in Russia? Don't break the law and that's it. Russia has already accepted Western democracy, but America has tricked and deceived them. Russia has been wasting 20 years on rapprochement with the West. And the dumbest thing for Russia is to listen to "Navalny" or the liberals (who are all for reunification with America, Europe) and lose another 20 years (in vain). Yeltsin has already said in the Russian Duma, "God bless America."
Western democracy is just smarter. The thinking man’s government. It has its flaws but it has so far remain rigid. The question is just how rigid is it, we will occasionally have to face attacks on the infrastructure. The caveat is that we will from time to time be forced to confront with the unknowns. Such as this US election, from which we know of Harris loses then Russia/China have found a way to subvert the system. This will test all the redundancy features that democracy has afforded us. I have a personal theory that all countries that seek to compete at the world stage will eventually come to Western democracy on their own, or otherwise find a structure that is more rigid and more stable. Otherwise, the western democratic hegemony will continue to remain as the one true hegemony, with no direct competition, thus they’re left to manage the rest of the world occasionally planting their own dictators and becoming somewhat dictatorial on a global scale… through western democracy. It’s not perfect, but it’s the best we have and has survived for as long as it had at an unprecedented scale.
