Got the exact same one....any one hesitating to buy one please don't be. This lawnmower is awesome !!! My neighbor's even bought one after seeing mine and how great it is !!!
I've had mine for three seasons now, I love it no more forgetting to empty the tank to store for winter or putting in gas treatment, no more going to the gas station, I can even here my cell phone ring when I'm operating it, and talk to someone while mowing the yard
Love ours. On my 2nd year and use on over an acre. I just do in stages and use as walking exercise. I enjoy mowing after dark with the headlight and wearing a headlamp. Very quiet and much nicer than mowing in hot summer sun.
I just bought a reconditioned unit and it looks almost brand new! I was able to unbox it and begin charging the battery in less than 10 minutes. Now I bought an electric mower back in 2013 and it didn't last 2 seasons. But this one has me really excited it's going to last for a long long time. I read the manual and the battery maintenance is soooo easy! You can store the battery completely charged and after a month of no use, it automatically discharges to 35%. After 6 months of no use, it recommends to fully charge again.
starting our third season with ego products - so far 2 self loading trimmers - 21 inch lawnmower - back pack blower - using the lift blade on the lawn mower and I keep it sharp. Someone would have to prove to me there is a better option - Lovin Ego
Bill Rundell I would agree if the grass is really long or a bit wet even from dew. In the growing season I tend to cut more often (once a week, cutting high) and there’s no issue. I don’t miss having issues starting my mower after the winter ❄️
I'm going on my second season with my 21"SP mower. It's everything I wanted/needed in a mower. Neighbor just bought one after borrowing mine when his gas mower died and local repair shop quoted $250 to repair. He and his wife wonder what took so long
Very easy to start and stop, which changed how I mow. When mowing out front there are sticker patches, so I can easily just mow till see one and stop. I dig up the stickers and then easy to just restart and keep going. When had the pull the cord to start a gas mower, then I would just try to mow around such patches and come back later rather than have to stop and then pull cord again. UGH!
I agree! I usually start and stop when bagging the lawn. so easy to get going again! I also like being able to use the self propelled while its off. Makes dumping the clippings effortless.
Kyle Humer I’ve had it miss some blades of the grass is wet (early morning dew) or really long. Also, if it’s really wet ( like rained that morning cut in the afternoon and grass still wet) it struggled. Thankfully, I don’t cut the grass when it’s wet out I wait until the grass is dry and there’s no problem. Hope this helps!
After researching about a month I bought what I hope is the newest model today, though in copying down the serial numbers for registration I saw it was manufactured Nov 2016, so hopefully you aren't referencing something newer than that. Mine didn't come with the side discharge, by registering it they'll mail it to me. My previous mowers were smaller, perhaps not even 20" (don't recall since past 4-years I'd had a lawn service, but as of next weekend I won't). The mower is larger than I'd expected it to be, but as you show it is designed to store vertically (has "feet" to give it a stable sitting position). It wasn't cheap, but so far I'm confident I'll be happy with the purchase, and definitely will appreciate it's 21" cutting width when doing the lawn.
@@superdow kind of been sitting on the shelf for awhile I would say....it seems like them have made minor upgrades in the past year so I would be adamant about getting a 18 or '19 before I brought it home...I looked at HD today and they had one SP ego left...the box was old and that turned me off right away..PS, I have both the EGO weed trimmer (awesome) and the EGO snowthrower (equally awesome)
I understand that the wiring gets pinched where the handle bends and stops working. They have a 5 year warranty though. But never ever get water on it, that can blow the circuit board. A $380 fix.
Thank you! Best part about this mower was first cut of this season it started right up. Unlike some of the gas mowers i've had in the past that required some work to get going after sitting all winter.
@@ALLElectricChannel No No No . Do not use hose water even under the mower deck location. Damp towel is ok. I tried doing this and the electrical in the mower gets wet and malfunctions. Air flow exits in the mower blade area. Water will seeps up into the electrical and the light indicators will malfunction. After 3-4 weeks it died out and now works again. Hope you learn from my mistake.
Ive had mine for a little over a year now and my only 2 complaints are the crap wheels are bushing style not bearing and they wiggle a good amount, though the mower is light enough that it doesn't really make it harder to push and also its feels like what it is, plastic, after a year it just doesn't feel like a premium mower, lets put it this way, for the price of a Honda it sure doesn't feel like a Honda, or a Toro Super Recycler or any gas mower in this price range for that matter.
Just got HD to price match off a questionable site so I got the mower for $399. I only have a 5,000 sq ft lawn, 1/8 acre. Do you think its overkill? You mentioned the 40v ryobi but you ended up returning it. How large is your lawn? If you had a lawn my size would you lean towards the cheaper Ryobi?
Jay - Can you share the site that HD price matched to? I'm considering this purchase. At $399, it's a no brainer for me. $499 is getting really close to Honda's HRX217VKA, which may get my purchase.
Please give a 1 year review. I am in the market for one once winter ends. I need to see the blade in detail. Is it a heavy steel blade or carbon fiber? Thanks.
How is the battery holding it’s charge so far? Also if you don’t use the mower for months at a time do you store the battery some place else or inside the mower plugged into the mower? I heard we shouldn’t drain the battery to 0% otherwise that would mess it up in the long term? I live in south Texas and I have a 3/4 acre house property of mostly weed grass. But some years we don’t get rain and it turns to dirt mostly so having a lawnmower is useless some years. But I still wanna go cordless electric. I’m sick of gas. Already had two mowers that gave out. I can’t justify spending $400 or more for a mower in this region especially when rain isn’t a guarantee lol. Just me. And $300 for an extra/replacement battery is outrageous to me. That’s more than what I would spend for a new mower. Stupid question but the blade is still metal right?? Lol. Just making sure. Why not use weedwacker string instead on these electric mowers? Make it even more lighter and since everything else is plastic anyway on this thing. Is the self propelled version even worth the extra money? Isn’t it more maintenance? Replacing the chain or whatever it has? I had self propelled mower over 25 years ago and I wasn’t impressed. It seem unnatural to me. I just hear you gotta oil it etc. if it has self propelled capability. Sorry for the long comment but I’m thinking of pulling the trigger on one of these ego soon. Josh Mann battery: all lithium ion batteries are happiest from 50%-80%. Keeping your battery between there will be best, but I don’t give it too much thought. I simply charge after I mow until next time I cut.
I have the old version and I have two problems with it. The blade needs sharpening every six weeks or so and it doesn't like wet grass. It will bog down and stall. Since the grass is almost always wet here I think I have to go back to a petrol mower.
Dipipegb I’ve never sharpened the blade in over 1 year. Still very sharp and does a great job cutting. I do agree even with the newer model, it doesn’t cut wet grass well. Since you've gotten to know the mower a bit, would you have a problem using the power washer to wash the underside? With it being electric I have that question in my head.
Thanks for your answer :) I have a Greenworks push type LI battery mower and it gets compacted on the underside and i have this itch to just use the power washer to spray it out lol. I have been using a kitchen silicone spatchula to hand scrape it out. I have been examining (online) the Kobalt self propelled unit from Lowe's too because it is metal underside and I thought it would be less inclined to grasp to the grass catchings. Anything you might want to add or say is very welcome, these things are $500 lol :)
PeterGregg, these things are rated at ip44 I believe. Water resistant. Keep the pressure washer away from the battery compartment area. Also I would be careful around the shaft underneath. Its one thing to cut wet grass, its another to have high pressure water being shot up into it. My Ego is currently on a truck and due to be delivered mid week! If you want to make cleanup easier. Make sure the underside is dry and clean as possible, Then coat the underside with something like Pam, Doesnt take a lot. Unless you use water to clean it often, you would only need to apply it a couple times a season. Im no lawn expert but have been mowing my lawn since I was a kid so roughly about 40ish years. One of the things I suggest is that it seems these electric mowers come with very thin blades, im sure its for weight and less stress on motor but this causes an issue. I always keep a seperate spare pair. that way you can just switch out and sharpen the dull pair when you have free time. They make drill kits that work decently and are cheap.
For my Ego, I just use a hose and my thumb to clean the underside after each use. Just turn it on it's side and spray it clean. Then keep it on it's side until underside is dry. Try doing that to a gas mower!
I've got the same Ego Self Propelled Mower and love mine. My 7.5 AHr battery lasts about an hour of mowing ... and usually charges back up within 45 minutes to an hour.
You should let everyone know. That if this mower breaks even though it's under warranty there is a 4-6 week wait time. No body fixes these and Home Depot sends them to Iowa for repairs. If you go to the Home Depot website look at the bad reviews and everyone is saying sane thing to long to fix mower. My mower self propelled variable control stopped working. Mine is stuck on the fasted speed. I can't slow it down so I can't use it. 5 year warranty sold me on the mower but what good is a warranty if you are without out a mower for half the summer? I would of not purchase this mower had I known the warranty was so bad.
Home Depot does not fix anything, gas or electric. For gas if you cannot fix it yourself, it is often cheaper in the long run to just buy a new one. I bought the Ego a month ago and have used it 3 times. I read the reviews which said it is so light that self propelled is not needed so I saved $100 and bought the push version. I go up and down hills and tight spaces with no problem at all pushing.
Yes, if you get the 7.5 mah battery (the one I show you in the video). Also, limiting the use of self propelled motor will increase the "range" of your mower because you are simply using less power to move the mower and more power mow. Hope this helps!
Jason I would guess after about 7-8 years of regular use. Depends on how much you use the battery and how much the drop in charger, battery degradation, will affect you mowing your yard
You cant really compare this to a ryobi because its 2 different classes. Ive had my eye on ego for a while. Just recently my 1 of 2 batteries in my 80v victa (australia, Kobalt in USA) has stopped working and its a discontinued range
The manual recommends the battery should not be stored in temperatures above 104 degrees which depending on where you live could be an issue. So I'm not risking damaging a $200 battery, but hey you do you.
I don't see why not, would just require that you have a few batteries plugged in on the truck to replace as needed; Tesla truck or Rivian should have enough power plugs to charge several at a time.
I bought my ego 21" self propelled mower in October of 2016, the mower works great, I cannot say the same about customer service. I e-mailed them a few times from the first day I bought the mower requesting the side discharge chute, to no avail. Still waiting to this day two years and counting. Why not include it in the box of you will not honor giving it upon request? Big fail in Ego's part
Harlock2day that is odd, maybe check their website. Their customer service team is excellent and might be able to give you a timeline of when it will come to the UK
Harlock2day I found this on their website. It looks like your able to buy it directly from EGO egopowerplus.co.uk/products/mowers/lm2122e-sp-52cm-self-propelled-mower
You said this thing outperforms your old gas mower. That’s quite a statement. I also think you’re full of it. Unless your gas mower was a worn out old pile of crap. There is no way in hell this mower will outperform any gas mower in the same price range. No way.
Thanks for your feedback. My gas mower was 10 year old John Deer. This mower is easy to use, light to push, and there’s no maintenance. Also, Ego mower does a great job cutting. No issues with the performance at all. Yes, the Ego electric mower outperforms my old gas mower. Maintenance and operation.
My Ego does not outperform a gas mower. A decent gas mower can cut taller and wetter grass. The Ego also tends to push down thinner grass instead of cutting it, especially at a high cut setting. That being said, the many benefits of the Ego outweigh the performance of a gas mower.
Nick.500 beginning of video at about 00:15 should me cutting, but wanted this video to be about how the mower holds up after 6 months/ 1 season of use. If your thinking about buying this mower, rest assured that it cuts beautifully. No complaints with cut quality.

I wouldn't recommend storing the battery in a non-climate controlled area as elevated heat can damage it and reduce the lifespan.
Steven Joe I keep mine in the garage, it get hot in there. Haven’t seen any issues
The manual recommends the battery should not be stored in temperatures above 104 degrees which depending on where you live could be an issue. So I'm not risking damaging a $200 battery, but hey you do you.
my garage would never get that hot, but good to know; thanks for sharing.
Do people use this proffessionally?
I don't see why not, would just require that you have a few batteries plugged in on the truck to replace as needed; Tesla truck or Rivian should have enough power plugs to charge several at a time.
Hell no. It would never work.
I tried to find it in the UK but not even Amazon sells it, odd.
Harlock2day that is odd, maybe check their website. Their customer service team is excellent and might be able to give you a timeline of when it will come to the UK
Going ALL Electric thanks, maybe it's too new. Pity though.
You didn't even cut the grass
Nick.500 beginning of video at about 00:15 should me cutting, but wanted this video to be about how the mower holds up after 6 months/ 1 season of use. If your thinking about buying this mower, rest assured that it cuts beautifully. No complaints with cut quality.
He cut the grass for 6 months
dude you kinda look like Drew Brees.
He’s a 7th cousin
ego-propelled
you wearing socks only?
socks are my fav :)
The mower's so expensive, he can't afford shoes.
