    I run my own landscaping business and already have two ego multi-head weedeaters with all the attachments and a handheld blower and 14” chainsaw replacing my Sthil equipment. This mower is on the way from Amazon! I have been impressed with all of the EGO products so far, they are clean and quiet, my customers like that as well as I do.👍 The next purchase is going to be the rapid charger to use in my trucks 120v outlet. Great video thanks for posting.

      Initially I was wanting to get Ego's 20" self propelled steel deck mower which comes with a 7.5Ah battery and buy another 7.5Ah battery to go with it but that mower is also $750 and another 7.5Ah battery alone is $350 so I chose this one instead. I think I could probably do my lawn with a single 5.0Ah battery but I'm happy to have the extra battery and I also own an Ego snow blower which also uses 2 batteries so now in the winter I got plenty of battery for helping my neighbors. :)

    I purchased my Ego push mower back in April and love it. My lot is 5,000 sq. ft and the 5.0 amp hour battery is more than enough to mow what I have with power left over. While I never tried it, I think I can get two mowings out of the batteries before recharging.
    The only issue I have is that when I mow high, regardless whether I bag or mulch, it doesn't seem to lift the blades high and the tall blades end up falling over on themselves. Cutting at the #3 setting, which I believe is roughly 2.5 inches, is much better. A friend of mine who has the same mower as I do suggests that I should get the high lift blade and he said that will help. But overall, I absolutely love this mower, the only thing I would change on it (21 inch mower) is the front end, I'd shorten it a bit so the mower could get closer to a wall or corner, IMO that front end is a touch too long.

      thanks for checking out the video and for the great comment. When I made this video I had my mower set to 3 and I agree on 3 it cuts nicely. During July and August though I let my lawn grow longer as that helps the grass survive the heat better without needing tons of water (as I assuming you know) so I started cutting it at 4 and 5. Like you I found it really doesn't have the lift to cut the grass when it's tall like that. It would leave lots of areas bent over like you're talking about and when those grass blades would stand up again I had little tall patches scattered around my lawn. Anyway, I did buy a high lift blade when I bought the mower and plan to finally make a video comparing the cut quality of the high lift blade to the stock blade to see if it makes a difference when cutting your lawn on those taller settings. Having used the mower for pretty much a full mowing season now I agree with you. I too think shortening the nose of the mower a bit would be a great idea. Thanks again for watching and commenting. Cheers! :)

      @@Maraksot78 The video and review was great and doing a review on the high lift blade would be awesome just to see how much better that blade is and also if it saps the battery run time or not. I'm just north of NYC and with the cool season grass mix it becomes an issue when it doesn't lift like it should because the grass flops over, continues growing as it flops but, then holds in the moisture and that ends up hurting root development plus you get the lawn fungus from it. It also didn't help that we had a wet summer so that further flopped down the grass. What I hated was raking that grass up and when it stood up, just like you, there would be tall patches all over the place, especially in those shady areas where the humidity and the rain would keep the area wet. They say keep it at least 3-3.5 inches high over the summer months but, that means cutting with the setting at 4, 5, or 6 but for the Ego mower, that setting really decreases the lift power of the mower. By the time I realized it, it was a bit late so, I raked those matted down areas up and mowed them at a lower setting and found that even though its low, the 3 setting works just fine and that's roughly 2.5 inches of cut. Anyway, I hope the high lift blade is the answer and yes, I think the nose of the 21 inch mower sticks out a bit too far from the blade housing so you have to trim those areas in the corners further back to be able to mow everything, they need to shorten that a bit if they can.
      Oh one more thing, do you notice that the tires tend to mat down the areas they go over a bit more than with a gas mower even though its lighter than a gas mower?

    • @Maraksot78

      @@steviem5279 it sounds like you and I are having a very similar experience with these EGO mowers. 😅 I live in southeast Washington State and we're pretty dry here. Go west of the Cascade mountains though and it's much wetter. I plan to shoot video using the high lift blade this coming weekend. And the video should be done in the next few weeks. Takes me awhile to get videos done because I only work on them in my free time. UA-cam is just a hobby for me. As for your question about the lawn mowers wheels matting the grass down I have felt like it is doing that but at the same time I don't have my gas more anymore to compare it to so I can't say definitively if the EGO mats the grass down more than my Toro did. But I don't remember ever having a similar issue with the Toro. At the same time I never let my grass grow as long when I used the Toro because I hated adjusting the height of it. I always left it around the same height that the EGO is on the 3 setting. Who knows, if I had cut longer with my Toro it may have performed about the same.

      @@Maraksot78 I had a Lawn Boy with a side bag that was 30 years old that finally died last fall on the final cut for the year so I chose to buy the Ego mower with the 5.0 amp hour battery as that's more than enough for my lawn which is roughly 5000 sq ft. We usually have dry summers but humid summers with some thunderstorms every now and then but this year the summer was unusually wet until mid-August and hasn't rained since. Just thinking about what I said about the tires matting down the grass more than a gas mower and I have a feeling the issue could be the lift and I think that the gas mower, even though its heavier could have done the same thing but as you mowed over your next strip of grass, it would lift those areas that the ties went over on the previous strip and we never noticed it because of it. Anyway, thanks for the replies and its interesting to see that we have the same issues with the Ego and I have a feeling more have it as well.

    • @Maraksot78
      @Maraksot78  5 років тому +1

      That's a very good theory about gas mowers lifting capability being able to pull the grass up that the wheels push down and that is why we never had this same issue with our gas mowers. I'm even more interested now in testing out the high lift blade to see just how much better it cuts longer grass.

    Can it take ego's 10ah battery? Does it come with the standard charger or the rapid charger that charges in 1/2 the time - about the run time of the battery? Is the handle bar high enough for a 6 foot 4 inch person without bending over? Great video.

    • @Maraksot78
      @Maraksot78  5 років тому +1

      In answer to your first question, I don't know if the battery compartment will accommodate a 10Ah battery, I've never even seen one of those in person before. I'm assuming it will though. It doesn't make sense to me for Ego to produce a 10Ah battery knowing it won't fit into their tools that will benefit from it most, like their lawnmowers. This mower comes with a rapid charger and mowing my lawn takes me 45 minutes to an hour and I can mow my lawn twice before having to recharge the dual 5.0Ah batteries. As for the handle height... I'm 6'-2" and I like mowing with the handle at its middle position so I feel the highest handle position will work well for taller people. Thanks for checking out my video and for the comment/question. Cheers! :)

      Battery powered mowers also clog easier do you need to walk slower. Every video I see is either short grass or long grass that they are only cutting half the width of the mower. What’s the point of a 20” mower if you only use 10”?

  • @ChristmasEve777

    I just got this mower too. Mine isn't a dual 5 AH like yours though. I didn't even know they exist. My Home Depot had a non-self propelled with one 5AH battery and a self propelled with a 7.5 AH battery so I bought the self propelled. So with the MONSTER 7.5AH battery, it's kind of nice only having to deal with one and getting a capacity right in between the two of your batteries. My mower doesn't even have a bay for a second battery. I wouldn't need another battery anyway for my size lot. Yeah, the self propulsion seems like overkill -- I bought that model mainly for the extra battery capacity. HOWEVER, it is TOO easy to get used to. I shouldn't have tried self propulsion 😞

    • @Maraksot78
      @Maraksot78  5 років тому +1

      I contemplated Ego's 20" self propelled steel deck mower with the 7.5Ah battery but ultimately decided on this one because I have Ego's snow blower also which can use 2 batteries as well. This past winter there was a couple times I wish I'd had a couple more batteries for the snow blower and I felt getting this mower was the best way to do it. I've always used a self propelled mower so I don't fully know how spoiled I am. XD lol

      You actually don't have the same model as this LM2142SP showing here with a 1200W 8.3 ft-lb torque brushless motor because it only comes in 5.0Ah batteries. You most likely have a LM2102SP with a brush 1000W 5.9 ft-lb motor like I had. Just got this model used (one year old) to convert it into a Select Cut LM2146SP XP with 2 x 10.0Ah batteries and Select Cut High Lift Dual Blade Set to get enough runtime to drive the heavier blade set and higher torque for this lawn season.

      @Maraksot78  4 роки тому +1

      I don't plan on upgrading but I did try putting a 2nd blade on my mower yesterday and it definitely seems to cut better. It generates noticeably more lift and mulches the grass better too. Having that 2nd blade did work the motor harder though which I could hear and the battery run time was cut down quite a bit. I was still able to finish my lawn but afterwards I always pull a battery from the mower to use with my blower and blow off my sidewalk and back patio of grass clippings. Usually I never get the red battery indicator but yesterday as I was blowing the red light came on. I was able to finish blowing ok but usually once the red light comes on there's not much juice left.

    • @Maraksot78
      @Maraksot78  4 роки тому

      @@pdiscool I have the Peak Power model and it's not officially made to use two blades on it... you have to carefully position the 2nd blade as close to center as you can and tighten the bolt down. It's a little tricky to get just right but not too bad. I don't plan to keep both on there but it was a fun experiment. I have no idea how this would wear on the motor over time as it's not expressly designed for it.

    I was also considering getting the 20" steel deck 7.5Ah mower and am having trouble deciding between that one and the dual-battery in your video. I have a 1/2 acre lot with a slope in the front yard. Do you think the 7.5Ah battery on the steel deck would last for my 1/2 acre lawn on a single charge? Would you recommend this dual-battery over the steel deck 20"? Thanks in advance.

    • @Maraksot78
      @Maraksot78  5 років тому

      That was the other lawn mower I was actually considering getting when I picked this one up. I have always had steel deck lawn mowers and was a little bit hesitant about the poly deck on this mower. So far though the poly deck has been fine. I really wish I could test that one too and see just how long the 7.5Ah battery lasts. I wish I could make a better recommendation but I honestly do not know how long the 7.5Ah battery will last. Based off my experience with this lawnmower I think the two 5.0Ah batteries will be enough to do a half acre but at the same time it may be cutting it close. Also based off of my experience with this lawn mower I am inclined to think that a single 7.5Ah battery will not be enough for a half acre lot, but I could be completely wrong about that. I'm just making assumptions based on the experience I have had with this particular mower.

    • @hoantrinh2816

      I have the 21 in mower single battery 7.5 amp and I can cut my yard 10,000 sq feet yard twice it if the lawn is well manicured. If I skip a mowing a week, then no way with the overgrown grass. So you might get away with the 7.5 amp battery on a 1/2 acre lot but you would have no margin for error whatsoever. Also, this dual battery mower has a 1200 watts motor vs a 1000 watts motor of the steel deck so it should be noticeably even though the steel deck is no slouch. If you were the average homeowner with a larger lot, I would pick this dual battery mower over the steel deck because of the little extra power and you do get more battery power for the price. If you have a smaller yard that you like to mow often or if you take careof more than one property that required transporting the mower around, then the steel deck might last you longer. But the I have had the plastic deck for over 2 season now in Houston and it's perfectly fine.

    Tool only does save a little money. However considering the cost of batteries
    2.5ah. $150
    5.0ah. $250
    7.5ah. $ 350
    It is always better to buy the tool with battery. If you dont need the battery, sell it $50 off new price. I did this but in the opposite way. I found the backpack blower w/7.5 ah for $299. $50 less than just the cost of battery alone so blower and charger were free.

    • @Maraksot78

      Very interesting way of looking at it. I never considered selling the battery and charger if they're not needed and recouping some of the money spent on the tool; not a bad idea. Like you I have noticed that some of the tools when you buy them with the battery and charger (based on the prices of the stand alone batteries and chargers) the tools end up being nearly free or in your case completely free. Or you can look at is as paying normal price for the tool and then getting a great deal on a battery and charger. It's a win, win. :)

Not sure how long the 3rd will last; not much mowing in the fall and winter in Florida. But it seems like it is already acting up. Hate gas, so maybe EGO is in my future. Electric mowing is actually pleasant. Would dread buying a loud gas mower.

    With all the switches for safety and wires running thru the harness bending. All kinds of problems I spoke to Ego even they admitted to problems. Fortunately I was able to return and go with something else.

      You can easily convert (10 minutes) this EGO's first and only Peak Power Dual Battery mower with the same 1200W Brushless motor that is now on the LM2156SP XP that can become 15.0Ah (2 x 7.5Ah), 20.0Ah (2 x 10.0Ah) or 24.0Ah (2 x 12.0Ah) to increase runtime, torque power and get the same and maybe better cut due to smoother under deck design than the LM2156SP XP. To convert a LM2100SP or LM2140SP into a Select Cut with High Lift Dual Blade Set:
      -Flange Fan EGO-3403110001 x 1
      -Washer EGO-5650705002 x 1
      -Flange Bolt EGO-5640226002 x 1
      -Upper Blade EGO-2827669001 x 1
      -High Lift Blade EGO-3707494002 x 1
      -Bolt EGO-5640321002 x 2
      -Prevailing Torque Hexagon Lock Nut EGO-5630351002 x 2
      Use a torque wrench with 9/16” (14mm) socket to tighten shaft bolt in CLOCKWISE direction to 36-43ft-lb (50-60 N.m.) and alternate to 11/16” (17mm) socket to tighten “Blade Set” nuts in CLOCKWISE direction to 22 ft-lb (30 N.m.).

      EGO just launched a new mower they call their Select Cut so I think I'd go with that one over this model as it's supposed to cut even better. I haven't tried it myself but I'd like to. :)

    Well for one thing you are only cutting half width of the deck...wth?

  • @stevenswall

    The way it feels... Half as heavy I'd guess? Easier to push, tilt to lift, etc.

      I was meaning the overall experience of mowing with one compared to the other. The main difference in the feel IMO was the self propelled function of the Toro is more energetic and powerful feeling.

      I honestly didn't know what kind of grass I have until you asked this question. I know the name of the sod farm we got the grass from so I looked it up. XD I live in the Pacific Northwest and in our area they use a mix of Bluegrass and Ryegrass. :)
