I love Mayor Stoner's line: "Well, I'll admit they sound better than they did last year. But they are STILL the most DISGUSTING band I have ever heard in ALL my LIFE! No trip." I personally have always ranked that line and this scene as one of the funniest moments in Mayberry!
In the scene beginning at 1:10 where they are rehearsing, you have to be a really good musician for everyone to know HOW to play so bad and make it funny. This is one of my favorite episodes, especially at the end of the show where the bus pulls away and they play so badly again.
They cut the part about the mayor saying he saw some guys with beards and Any says "That was Burley Peters, he had blueberry pie for lunch". Also, this had to one of the very last shows were Floyd was still able to walk. He had a stroke around 1963 and was always shown sitting down after that.

I love Howard McNear as Floyd, grinning from ear to ear as he's marching. All the time not playing a note of music! Andy somehow cons the mayor into listening to his abominable band. His facial expressions are of a man ready to jump off a bridge. I was ready to cry with laughter at this marching band from hell. Not a bad trade though. Worst band. Best show.
Though I do agree I was waiting for the "but they are still the most disgusting band I've ever heard. No trip!", I think that 'thisiasecret' did a fantastic job editing the video to basically tell the story in around 5 minutes. Thanks for putting this up!

In my opinion. The Mayberry band was just background actors. The real band you heard was off stage. Some of the other band looks like real musicians. If they was, most likely it was them playing out of tune off stage.
