TTR: Shopping is the Same Thing as Greening [Commentary]

- SOS shopping in the full district with randoms is greening, no matter how you slice it. More often than not, it creates mass panic, half the group bails, and the remaining toons either die or have to use an obscene amount of rewards just to finish out the VP.
I agree with everything, I hate that maxed holly reputation .-.
Me too, everyone assumes I publicly shop because I maxed. In all the hundreds of vps I've done, many of the times I get judged.
+Wazzup same
I don't understand why people get so defensive over shopping. Yeah, you can disconnect if a bunch of people leave, but you gotta understand the fact that there are still people new to the game, would you want someone's first impression of a VP being "People will abandon you if the SOS card is bad"? Just get some friends if you are so amazing at the game you could beat the VP with a majority of your group missing if you wanna shop.
I am personally a maxed Hollywood and I gotta say the people who are commenting on this video saying "you're just bad" and "you're just complaining" are completely missing the point. This is the fact that shopping is just rude and the way she feels about it. I honestly can agree with her because shopping is in fact a form of greening (according to TTR rules). The only exceptions to this is if you go into an entire group that's all shopping or you notify the group you are shopping before you even get into the vp with them. I personally shop in the full district but I notify people beforehand that I am shopping. My reasoning for this is if you go into a shopping group people will leave on good sos cards or even if the majority votes to stay people will be unsportsmanlike and leave anyway because they personally don't like the card.
IKR? I was in a VP the other day and not one, not two. But 3 Toons left simply cause of the SOS card. You know what it was?
RESTOCK TOON-UP. It's just as useful as an actual toon-up SOS. What's even worse is that they didn't ask if it was okay/Announce they were shopping. They just *Left* Without saying a word. It also bothers me when people leave cause of split. Yes, they leave because of the mix of cog suits worn by people. COME ON!!!!!!!! THERE COULD BE A 90 LAFF OR MORE TOON WHO HASN'T DONE A VP BEFORE!
***** Yeah, I remember I saw one person with 7 out of like, 89 laff trying to VP. SHE ACTUALLY GOT INVITED. I also saw someone with completely RANDOM gags who didn't actually get invited ( Thank arceus ) And one guy said " You went to the gag shop and bought random gags. " His excuse was " IT'S FOR LOW LEVEL COGS! " Kind of reminds me of the " It's for kids " Excuse.
I use HQ to shop, you clearly don't know how to use your resources or have no friends if you decide to shop in public servers.
And who shops on pete anyway rofl
sry i couldn't find enough online friends to shop with me
Then sit in the full dis lobby and ask others if they want to shop before inviting them. Some toons actually don't know what HQ is. And besides.. you should apologize to the group u abandoned, not me
MerryMarowak or if your inpatient.
it doesn't matter if _you're_ impatient or not. if you're only thinking about yourself and don't care about how what you're doing affects others, it's no wonder people consider those who shop in full groups negligent and rude. and even then, shopping itself is a very time consuming activity - getting a good card can take many tries (especially if you're looking for a very specific one).
Nostalgic
This is a fantastic video. I feel like SOS Shopping in the full district is worse than it was on TTO. It's so prevalent now. It's extremely rare to have 8 people dance in a full district VP for a card that isn't a member of the elite 8. It's crazy. TTR Staff does care about this issue, and there has been a lot of discussion about how to implement something to help stem the tide of rampant shopping, however the best you can do now to help stop it is to report it.
The problem is it's so difficult to catch the people doing it. You rarely get to know everyone's names before you enter the VP and it's hard to see them in the elevator. Once a shopper leaves, you'll likely never get the chance to report them either. What I would recommend to help mitigate this is try to open every single person's toon profile and look at their gags. Since you're recording, you'll have video of the person's profile which will now include their Toon ID. If you can identify who's leaving, you can go back and watch your footage and find the profiles of the people who shopped. Take screenshots of these and send them in to support@toontownrewritten.com with a description of what happened and what they did. It'd probably be best to include the video too.of them leaving the elevator.
This is the report form we prefer people to use when e-mailing support to report toons:
My Username (no passwords please!):
Toon I was playing on:
Time of incident:
Date of incident:
District:
Reported Toon's name:
Reported Toon's species:
Reported Toon's Toon ID:
Did you use the Report button in-game?:
Were you in a boarding group with them?
Incident Location (inside a Cog building, while playing minigolf, etc):
Additional information (such as screenshots, what the reported Toon said, other Toons involved or in battle with you, etc.):
If you can, please also attach a game log file from the session where the incident occured, as a log file really helps the moderators with their investigation.
Also you should totally do more videos like this, Cait. This was really fun to watch. I really enjoyed your commentary!
Good idea about the gag screen. Thanks! I have been recording a lot of my VPs lately just to catch shoppers and have been sitting on a completed video for s few weeks about how often my ubers die because of it I will upload soon. Its true its hard to catch people doing it, especially since it all moves so fast. If I know for a fact someone always shops I simply refuse to run with them.
I would never pick toon up on an uber. Other players are already hesitant to go with someone with under 40 laff and you want to compound the issue by forgoing sound? Besides, its the uber that is at risk of going sad, not his teammates.
You don't have to like shopping to know it is NOT the same thing as greening. First: I don't believe that toon was shopping. Nobody shops and skips Pete; that's dumb. Second: any group that cannot hold its own if a SINGLE TOON disconnects has no right being in the VP. Blame the shopper all you want, but 1/8th of the group should not be significant in the outcome if your team members are all fit to be in the VP. The real problem in this VP is you didn't check the gags or laff of the people you went in with. So they were too inexperienced to make it. The shopper didn't green you. Greening is the intentional act of getting someone killed. A shopper is shopping for SOS cards, he isn't trying to make everyone go sad.
I agree with you completely PrincessKait1. If you want to shop, there is a right and wrong way to do so.
You have a beautiful voice.
Freckleslam and you have a crush
you had a lure sos...
I feel like there needs a district committed to shopping.
I'm so glad you uploaded again kait!!!
Preach! It bothers me when people leave for bad SOS unless it's an only shopping group. It only happens on my lower toons, too and it's such a struggle!
I never understood why people would shop like that. I mean, I haven't done a VP in TTR yet but I see ToonHQ having groups Specifically for SOS Shopping. Guess nothings changed since TTO...
+Swagger Lemon Since that post I've became a 16 holly, but just go to Toonhq.org and occasionally you'll find Shopping groups, or groups in the full districts. How I avoid having shoppers is just go to an empty district and make a no SOS shopping group on toonhq and boom, no shoppers, and a fun VP.
It's funny too, because every time I made a group, I get either an old man or Bessie. Yesterday I made two groups and both times we got Bessie.
Glad to see you posting :). Can't believe you have played toontown for so long
I agree. If you go into a random group of toons, you're committed to it no matter the card and no matter how bad/good the toons are. I only shop with clans.
I agreed! This is why when I doing SOS Shopping in VP group, I used on quiet districts, instead of full districts for SOS Shopping!
I don't know what the point of shopping is anymore. You can now delete SOS cards.
***** It's not like you payed money for it. Plus, getting the SOS card isn't the purpose of the VP.
***** I sort of agree there. Clerk Will sucks. The only bad SOS card IMO. And Guffaw is very useful is some situations. But what's the point of soloing? All it does is make the VP take way longer. And it's not like no one has done it before. Back in the day, soloing was pointed at and applauded. Now pretty much every maxed toon with a youtube channel has done it, it's not special anymore. Not to mention, it's BORING as watching paint dry. So much I don't even bother to pause the video before taking a pee break. So yeah, you're right. But it's pretty pointless now.
I remember when I was playing toontown, some people unite and cog summon shopped in the CFO and CJ, and some or even everyone disconnected. THAT'S SO INFURATING!
Honestly, I support it, and I don't think public shopping is the same thing as greening. Greening is when you're bringing misery to the team while being in the battle. Such as making them lose laff, not tooning them up, and constantly running into the VP in the final round. Why is THIS considered greening? "Clicking the red "X" button on the top right of your screen is greening? Oh shit guys! I'm greening because I clicked it!" But seriously, you're gonna have people in this game whether you like it or not, you can't change it. There's still going to be those same people who public shop like that. AND in the first clip, and all the other clips, you went with a LOW group without checking their laff and gags, and you stayed anyway. This is why you ALWAYS check the laff and gags of your teammates before you enter the VP. Stop accusing the shoppers of greening when you're the ignorant one who went in a random group without checking their laff and gags. It's not THEIR fault, that you weren't sure if the group was good enough. It's YOUR fault for staying in the group in the first place. You died in the second battle because you were sided with ONE person, while being a 37 laff uber with no lure. The shoppers didn't cause that, it was YOUR decision, and the fact that you didn't CHECK the group before you went in. You say that this game is meant for teamwork, when literally half the community knows nothing about goddamn teamwork. There's so many examples of how bosses turn out bad if you don't check if your teammates have good stats. Going into a random group as an uber, is a BAD idea if you don't know your team's stats, because it ends up being like that first clip. People just love finding ways to make public shoppers look bad. I always checked my team's gags as well to make sure that I would have a good VP. I think this video should be more of "Why checking your team's stats is VERY important" rather than slandering public shoppers for a decision YOU chose to make by staying with the low toons rather than saving yourself. I use to be a public shopper myself, and I didn't give a fuck. But, I ALWAYS checked the group to make sure that they would make it through, despite losing one or a couple of people.
Happy Slappy How does one fit that much stupidity into one comment?
This lowered my IQ by double digits.
I think toons with trash gags and no tactics are worse than shoppers, a group of good toons can 6 or 7 man the vp but toons who cant carry their own weight and actively do things detrimental to the team out of ignorance (or because they are training in that once-in-a-lifetime opportunity of a x2 multiplier) can hinder good toons more than being down a player
I agree with all these points. Shopping can also be greening as instead of actually unluring the cogs or whatever the greeners means of killing other toons are; if the team isn't strong enough, there's 1 or more ubers, or low toons, the greening will be done for you.
I have greened toons that have severely been a detriment to the team. I don't do any on ttr as I prefer to be clean. I shop on the toon hq group because it's the right thing to do, and I understand the grind of sell. I hope that people will appreciate another's sympathy towards others.
+Wazzup nice video btw
this is why i always max sellbot last, so i can have enough pinkslips and unites to be able to do it at least solo or help other toons in need easily.
Shopping isn't exactly greening but it is something you shouldn't do without the consent of the group. Toontown is a game that encourages teamwork. Shopping isn't teamwork. It creates havoc within the group and it encourages people to disconnect.
I've always thought the same, I don't think I have ever shopped with randoms.
Dont get me wrong. It is annoying. But, you cannot point the blame 100% on them. If they happen to leave, just ask the rest if they want to keep going. If they say yes, you consent to going on with others with a man down. And also... a lureless 37 laff uber? If you know continue with toons like that. They are awesome toons, but you will always be at risk.
People can leave the game for any reason they want.
DANG IM IN HERE!!!!!! I was the cat (Seany) with the wedding cake that missed
I wouldn't say that shopping in the full district is the as greening. Greeners go out of there way to pick bad gags, passing, running into the vp etc. where shoppers just bail. 7 or 6 man vps aren't that hard when your team works together. Even on my Toon-up less toon, I can keep a team of mid - high laff alive with good gameplay. Greening is more of going out of your way to make the group awful and most greeners will do that on good cards. Should there be punishment for dos shopping? I would say no, because you're allowed to do it in every other district without being deemed rude except for the full district. Hell, the group tracker even gives an option for sos shopping vps. I do think that sos shopping in the full district is a bit of a dick move, but should it be banable? I would say no.
That is true, but as I mentioned above, the vp is a very easy boss. Having a few shoppers doesn't generally effect game play unless you are unable to defend yourself, and in that instance, I believe that you shouldn't be doing vps. If you rely on others because you have low gags, then you should train them before you start doing vps. Shopping is a reality of this game because people are impatient and that's something we as a community have to accept. All you can do is prepare for it by having strong gags and try to work it out.
SOS shopping should go extict. Especially with the last update about a month ago where you can get rid of your SOS that you don't like without using it in a battle.
^^^ agreed
+Dipper's Taco I would do that because it helps the cold callers and also I don't wanna be rude.
it depends on if the cold callers belong there or not
+Robbie Latimer I guess.
I have done a VP with 2 shoppers didn't know they where shoppers til they left. I was already in panic only because my laff was like 58 and only had birthday cakes as my highest gags, rest of my gags where lvl 4 and squirt 5... Also the thing I hate is that the duck said he was helping small toons
I see where you're coming from, but shopping is not greening. Greening is getting people killed intentionally. If a toon leaves, that doesn't mean he's greening. If that's the case, then anybody who disconnects or crashes in a VP would be called a greener. When you leave to shop, you aren't leaving to intentionally get your teammates killed. Sure it can be "selfish" but it is not greening. If toons can't do a 7 man VP, then you don't need to be in the VP anyways. And if you can't do a 7 man VP, then most likely you'll get greened by high toons for being noobs in the VP lol.
TTR should add a penalty if you keep leaving boss fights like that. First a warning, then boss fight ban, and then either a ban on your account if it happens multiple times or a loss in suit level for each time you leave(should decrease by greater amounts the more you leave).
MasterOfSalt that's the worst idea ever
How so? You can't just say that it's a bad idea just because you might SOS shop in public.
Well, you'd need to add a timer so that if people leave because of greening, it doesn't count as leaving. Also, make it so that dc's don't count. Also so that if you leave once it doesn't add a penalty, because seriously, if you leave only once, that shouldn't give an automatic suspension. Maybe 5, but I don't know. If you leave because all the people you're with are shoppers. And maybe add a ban to that 1 boss for a while, not your entire life for that account, that's stupid, people change. I like the losing suit level, but not ban. Again, there are circumstances where people will have to leave.
There are just my thoughts ^-^
Thats the stupidest fucking idea, people dc all the time and would be getting unnecessary bans
Or lose suit part.
If its not a shopping run usually I end up dying on the skelecog round either bc sound/lure missing, noobs, or a high toon going stoic pretending to be lagging and is obviously greening bc I'm an uber.
Idk how you have the patience for having so many ubers and dying so much in TTO and ttr
Honestly, I think shopping is okay, as long as you do it with other Toons who are shopping. I just won't like it if many Toons decide to leave when Toons do not want to shop.
I've had to fly solo in the skelecog round. It's completely possible to survive it.
The best stunner I saw In a vp
I hate doing a VP on my main toon SO MUCH. im a 131 laffer and maxed sell,cash, and law. Tbh sometimes I want to do a VP without having to crash myself every 2 minutes until I find a good one. sometimes im just bored and want to do a VP, and couldnt care less if the SOS isnt that great. No one understands that so I hardly get invited despite me explaining that im not a shopper o-o like okay, these are all low toons with max lvl 5 gags who complain about me "shopping", have fun going with other people as low as you and dying smh. I have enoug h decency to just go to the group tracker to find a shopping group if thats what I want ;-;
I don't want a shitty sos and my holly is maxed/don't want to get another 5500 merits. If it counts as greening is not as you you can adapt to the situation. I'm different though I complete the 1st round or second/toons depending and then leave. I manage to do a 6 man after 2 shoppers and the sos was a Moe which is being pathetic.
I hope they take care of the shoppers! xd ;p
I have a question Kait, how did you become popular on UA-cam in the ToonTown community? I started uploading my own TTR videos recently and just wondering how I can get more viewers on UA-cam.
I have no idea lol. Tag your videos well is my only advice
What do you usually tag your videos?
Also we used to have the same exact gags, except my toon isn't a 4 gag uber anymore so now she has Toon-Up. But we have the same gags lol
+ToonTownPinkRubberDuck lol cool! I just tag any keywords i can think of like my toons name, ttr, toontown, sellbot, etc.
Sweet! Thanks for the help! :)
How do you get the Toontown Texture Packs? I would really love to know. PS, love your vids :)
I KNOW TOOTSIE PIE
and how does no one understand lois and clark ITS FUCKIN LOIS AND CLARK
I fully agree!
aye 3rd vp u are using the pack i told u to
I'm still using it I really like it :D
Comet you are Everywhere...
PrincessKait1 do you still play the game?
They say this is toontown online... Weird.
See, not every comment needs to be first. I applaud that
Do you like Toontown Fellowship?
what does shopping mean?
What texture pack are you using?
i only shop with a toonhq group on sundays
i had to do 4 toons even it was toons hit
lol i remember this im the one who left whoops
Wish ttr had more honorable toons such as yourself.
hey what resource pack is this? ^^
The first one is Toontown at Dusk by Ugly Corny, and the second one is Retooned by Sir Fireball Electrotoon (on mmocentralforums)
thank you (:
IM IN THE VIDEO IM SUPER CAT MAN
MARYAM BAIG prove it
No it's not, people who shop leave for a crappy sos. You used to be my favorite TTO UA-camr Kait, I don't know what happened to you. This video made me lose respect for you. it's really not hard to comprehend from the fact that Greening is the intentional act of making another Toon sad, so shoppers just leave for a better sos.
I got killed by this and I had ll my lvl 7s
people are lazy to delete sos cards unlike me I do delete sos cards
ew what's this texture pack even. Also, what's with the laugh, I wouldn't bring you cuz your laugh tbh
I can see you have an army of triggered kids who dislike all your videos, lol, but please make more, I love your all your videos.
you sound different on video then irl not much but a tiny bit
Lois is cute :O
It’s really not
I think being 37 laff in the vp, regardless of gags, is the real crime here... Maybe you keep going sad because you are a fucking 2 hit from any Mingler or Hollywood? Ubers are cancer, always expecting to be carried
Hardly an uber with a level 5 gag anyway
Idiotic video. You can just disconnect. Random shopping is debatably trolling, but in no way is it greening.
Wrong
Wow already seeing two of these dumbass comments. Give an explanation ffs is this hard?
ShadowArceas138 First off, calm down its toon town. second I was putting a random word in the comments and didn't expect to see a triggered 9 year old. This comment is also 2 months old
Im lureless XD
