After hearing of the defeat, Emperor Augustus was reportedly seen hitting his head against the palace walls and shouting repeatedly: Quintilius Varus, give me back my legions!'
Haunting
quintilus varus , legiones redde !
'Quintilius Varus, give me back my legions!'
I love when small details like these are added, very well done CA
SEGA....OH SEGATUS GAMES! GIVE US BACK OUR C.A. Sega will Betray C.A, you must turn back... Sega a traitor...I think not. Sega may have put money into C.A,took my money, but my loyalty is to Creative Assembly.

Goddamn it, I've modded Rome 2 so much, I can't even look at these legionaries. I need my 31 different legions, each with different uniforms, armor and shields, all custom made variantmodels thanks to far better modders than I.
Do you mean submod for divide et Impera - Caesars Legions ?
Or some other ?
@@janborak4424 May his soul rest in the land where he has fought his opponents
I live near teutoburg forest XD
tomurg My Legions are coming for you! We will succeed this time!

Tiberius and Germanicus were joined this chat
I remember watching this and getting so hyped up. Too bad I didn’t have a good enough pc back then to play it.
A historical battle vs the rebel Spartacus would be awesome also! Hope they think about that :)
I hope they include him in the campaign game. It would be awesome if you could play a campagin with famous characters and if every character had a main objective and if you complete that objective you would earn something. For example: Conquer the Gauls with Ceasar. Take Rome with Hannibal or Spartacus. At least include the characters, like they did with Medieval 2 Kingdoms where William Wallace would appear with an army at a certain point.
What you said was done 10 years later now. 🙂
0,46 Did the Romans just did a square formation like in Napoleon Total War?
I think so, they tried it at Carrahe and lost horribly though
@@yourlordandsavior6940They just kept getting wore down. Wasn’t the square’s fault.
First one was truly amazing ! i am still playing it now. cant wait for this one !
Emperor Augustus: PUBLIUS QUINTILIUS VARUS GIVE ME BACK MY LEGIONS
What the hell C.A, this looks good! How is this of any relation to that pile of rubbish you gave us in September?
*grabs popcorn and watches the conversation as I wonder what faction they will give us to play*
the speech at the beginning ,is that emperor agustus's voice?ı remember a famous dialogue like that from RTW
Excelente vídeo
Sería genial que los mismos realizadores del videojuego debería de realizar ésta batalla pero de un modo cinematográfico, es decir, todo completo.
Y otras batallas más.
Sends chills down my spine man...
Don't mind me, I'm just a German Drinking the tears of Augustus.
Rly?
+Captain Obvious In their skulls.
...........IM FRICKEN CHINESE AND THE HUNS ARE THE WORST ENEMY OF CHINA.........well a while ago
Shix Lo
Yeah fuck the huns, they are the reason some of my ancestors fled to Britannia.
+Please Use Logic the German tribes defeated the huns in the end
love how the date at the end is in Roman Numerals
Hadn't looked at it in this way, thanks! That sure seems to make sense, though I still don't see a Total War game happening for a console.
"Where are the scouts?! WHERE ARE THE SCOUTS?!!"
They need to keep this in the finished game, the general or commanders should shout this whenever their side f**ks up and gets ambushed.
it's people like us who keep games like this alive. keep at it brotha
"Germania will be free!"
LOL, Germanicus would like to have a word with you.
In the end, that attack simply pissed Rome off. And back then, the worst thing you could do is gain Rome's wrath.
Rome burned down easily rebuildable houses and killed some germanic tribes but they forever lost the chance to conquer Germania from then on out. Ariminius willed it and it happened.
the historical battles in TW (like in Rome 1) varied in time frame
Its likely they have a historical battle in the game that include spartacus
In Shogun 2 it was a little bit different though as some factions were locked and only were available via DLC.
QUITUS VARUS! GIVE ME BACK MY LEGIONS!
He's climbing in your civilisation, and he's snatching your legions up
Exactly 8 years since this was released :D
0:50 One of the most badass things I've ever seen.
Where are the shield covers for when the legion is moving? Still looks really awesome though. Can't remember where I read that opening quote though.
Oh yea they've got to add a timeline event in the Campaign including Spartacus. Which I am watching tonight.
0:53 Scale of the battle .
0:55 Amazing motion capturing .
1:02 Facial Expressions of the one on horse .
So much epicness after every second in 1 minute trailer . Don't forget that it's still in alpha stage .
Guys, a small question, if i use a laptop cooling fan, do i need to increase the voltage of my laptop to provide sufficient power to both?
If i remember correctly its right after the king era in other words after they conquer the southern parts of italy.
Im 15 and been playing total war series
since rome total war was released
Completely agree.
0:53 Do they yell out boar (or bara) snout? If so, that's really cool.
Varus, oh Quinctilius Varus, give me back my legions!
It would be nice if they include gladiators as troops, or even as a rebel army, to recreate spartacus war.
Hopefully this is what the mini 1v1 battle scenes will look like up close. :D
I'm a little new to the total war games, and i bought that total war pack on steam. Would you guys recommend me playing Rome 1, and if so what faction is best for newbies? Thanks in advance, but so far i have been playing napoleon ^_^.
What everyone forgets is that the tribes which carried out this ambush were utterly annihilated afterwards. Germanicus led a campaign of revenge so bad it set back Germania's social development by a century.
@Michael Miller Chatti ftw!
It was mentioned by suetonius and cassius dio
They defiently have an outstanding military for the longest that's for sure.
I think Varus is still trying to give those legions back.
Reminds me of the film 'Centurion'.
"Delenda est Germania!"
Especially the hard strategy games. :( I want to think more!
ok i am sooooo getting this
Yeah just did the research. This is year 9 CE. Spartacus died 71 BCE.
But yeah It would be a cool extra or DLC.
Quinctilius Varus, give me back my Legions!
Actually this battle took place in AD 9 which was the time of Augustus. It would take like 300 years before they would weaken. This battle was a rare incident in which the Romans got crushed, but they never tried to take Germania again.
that is another battle, it's on brittania, but it's pretty similar
Goosebumps, shivers. :) I'm drooling.
After these 15,000+ (3 legions) troops were slaughtered, a Roman scribe/historian, (I cannot recall his name) wrote that Augustus was in his palace screaming in rage, hysteria and panic to Varus (The commander of the 3 legions) repeatedly "Quintilius Varus, give me back my legions!"
Shows just how humiliating and detrimental this loss was to Augustus. After this, he completely gave up on his wishes of conquering anything past the Rhine.
Man... I cant wait
i hope they put the blood pack again...cant imagine a battle like this without blood
Right up to the Elbe and Sudetens, yeah I'm with you haha
Dat ending kill.... I mean woozzaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
Amazing
I live in Teutoburg Forest :)
I cant post links on youtube, butt if you type in 8800gts pc, theres one with a monitor ect for 250, more are added by the week, the 8800gts is a awesome card for the price and age.
damn you're right. well sorry about that, mixed the time line.
Sweet Jesus, I want to play this now!
The end is 2013 AD in roman numerals. So no release date yet
When does it come out now? I cant read this numbers. xD
Hopefully the third age mod will make another appearance in Rome 2 :D
Most awkward scene of this trailer I thought was at 0:45. I think this was actually what the game looked like at this stage of development, and there were a few problems (e.g. the bouncing up and down movements of the units + no animation blending from one state to another (e.g. from walking to idle position). The rest of the trailer is all cinematic (planned camera movements + animations).
Awesome !
"Give me back legions!". Barbarian replies "Can't their already dead!"
It is a bit anachronistic to talk about "Germania", because ancient people may have more seen themselves as a people than a nation or a country. Furthermore, what was to become Germany was at the time inhabited by several germanic tribes, who were probably not always having peaceful relations between each other.
THey been united for the common cause against Rome.
Even divided nations can make common cause against common threats. The Germanic tribes no doubt saw the ruthlessness with which Caesar subjugated the Gauls, and many of them likely even fought Caesar. With his successor now pushing and invading beyond the Rhine, I imagine the Germanic tribes were quick to put their differences aside, if for no other reason than to keep the Romans out.
Exactly, Arminius is just being witty
It's not anachronistic. It was the name the Romans gave the region and Arminius being raised in Rome knew about it. Whether or not the Germanic people agreed to it, is another point
Yeah, mine is almost 2 years old. Graphics are no problem, but a pc always gets slower over time since you add a lot of data to process and ofcourse the games you run are getting heavier for your pc. I don't think my pc can run Rome 2 smoothly at highest settings, but it might if I overclock my processor to 4.2Ghz. It will create some more heat, but at the moment my pc is running at 33 degrees Celsius, so it can take it. :D
holy shit i need a new computer
Was the Rome 2 campaign period confirmed? Because the Rome one was 270 BC - AD 14, more than enough to include both events. I don't see why it would be "extra" or DLC.
Damn you Arminio! Daaaaaamn youuuuuu!
Inb4 Nuremburg Rallies with Peasants
He’s like Theon Greyjoy
the trailer that made me like total war
you can unlock the other factions, just changing the right script in the program files of Rome
Hell yeah
Reminds me of a scene from Centurion
You do realize that Spartacus was after Scipio right? Crassus and Pompey fought against him and Julius Cesar was alive, Teutuborg forest was with Augustus as emperor, the "sucessor" of Julius Cesar, who was alive during the spartacus rebelion.
Shows the battle and survivors try make there way back to the north of england while being hunted
I hope they have a berserker unit for Germania like in the first Rome Total War...Those guys could do some damage!!!
nice playing
You're talking about the Teutonburg, Im said when they were a Republic, the Teutonburg ambush was when they were an Empire. The Romans fought several pitched battle with Germanic trbies and lost. And dont count the Samurai out just because the Romans keeps their formation. I mean, who has the biggest army? Who has most experianced soldiers and commanders. Who control what terrain. The are a lot of factors.
This was definitely the best historical battle. I love that SHIT SHIT SHIT feeling as I try to scadadle my cohorts the fuck out of that death trap
In a few hundred years.
Quote from Wikipedia: 'The area now called England was first inhabited by modern humans during the Upper Palaeolithic period, but it takes its name from the Angles, one of the Germanic tribes who settled during the 5th and 6th centuries. ' Germania is in my roots too, and I'm English.
Oh I didn't say they reconquered. After the Teutoberger massacre, they didn't try conquering Germania like you said. But they exterminated the tribes that participated in the ambush. You can look it up in Tacitus: The annals.
I think movies called Eagle or something like that.....
yes they were the Romans retreated to the other side of the Rhine river after the battles were over and they never made a concerted effort to conquer and hold areas beyond the Rhine from then on.
I believe they optimized it for lower end machines, specs are about the same as Shogun 2's
Rome 2 is probably the most cinematic of all TW games
I hope Spartans are in the game and that they look and are badass
Yeah ok but roman times is very vague. These Total War games have the habit of focusing on a certain time period. If they make it during the time of the Teutoburg battle and Scipio Africanus vs Hannibal (this from the trailers i've seen), it is likely that if they add a battle against Spartacus it would be an extra and not campaign. Or at least they'll put it in the historic battles section like in Shogun 2 although they were still in the time period of the campaign.
is this a historic battle ? yes
