@DETERMINOLOGY you just missed a nice sale on Amazon for the P5 plus for $125 but the p3 plus is 122 and p5 plus 143 atm so it's still a great time to grab one.
Got the 2TB last week and I'm in the 92nd percentile in Passmark disk mark test. Good enough for me. With my 32GB DDR5 6000 testing in 94th percentile, everything opens instantly. I'm going to forget loading times ever existed.
Cheers mate, my recommendation is replace it with either a new iMac or PC depending on what you're doing as there's not much point investing money into an iMac that old.
is it good for a long term? to use with important data.. they are cheaper than wd black, samsung pro, but this speed is good enough for me. i only worry with durability
Crucial is pretty durable. I say with such price you cant really compare with samsung and wd black since they are both faster but in terms of reliability you should be fine.
The P3 Pro is a QLC drive, which are generally less durable than TLC ones. That said Crucial is a solid brand, so it might exceed the durability usually associated with that kind of drive. Personally I'd recommend the Western Digital SN580 - it should cost around the same but is TLC, it's generally faster and will probably last longer. It's very similar to the WD Black SN770 but for a lower MSRP. That said it depends on your region and the price you can find it at. If you're going to use it for really important data though, I'd recommend spending a bit more and going for a SSD with DRAM (and still make regular backups)
My Kingston A2000 250gb has 150TBW and P3 500gb has 110TBW. I would rather bought Patriot P300 512gb as my secondary ssd for games. It's cheaper and it has 240TBW. It doesn't have DRAM and it's slower than P3 but I think it should be enough for me.
I bought new pc setup and after 1 month my 500gb crucial nvme m.2 stopped working. I was playing valorant suddenly black screen appears then pc re-start and shows bios page. I saw in bios > storage > pci ssd - ( blank ) the size is not showing its blank there. What is the reason?? I also tried in another port didn't worked also the nvme got super hot in 30 seconds like i am using it from hours.
Both are waste and scam. Crucial P3 Plus has 110TB of TBW and SN570 has 150TB of TBW. Which means if you are a gamer or into video editing then these SSDs life cycle will be over in less than a year but if you are using casually then maybe it might last you 1-2yrs.
Update. Ended up just re-installing Windows 10 and then read/write was very close to advertised spec. Not sure why. Using a Asus Z590 Prime mobo with i5 11400f. Don't enable overprovisioning it does nothing for speed, it only allocats a set space on your drive so it doesn't get too full (over 90%) and slows down. SSD do get slower if the drive is almost full. Use Microns Storage Executive program to monitor Crucial drives.
hi which is better for my 1080p video editing storing 30-50gb files a day working 16 to18 hours a day and 40 to 50 video files used for editing 20-30 mins video length the p3 plus or the samsung evo 870 plus both 1tb for my proj files which of this 2 can boost the premiere pro timeline etc.? my setup is i7 12700 rtx 4060 32gb ram kingston kc600 os and seagate barraccuda hdd for my proj files. I dont know what to buy in my needs since samsung has slower speed than the crucial but the samsung has dram and the crucial is dramless. can you please help me.
Hi. A couple years ago a Samsung QVO 870 SATA fell into my lap for very little money and i have been using it as my system drive, "upgrading" from an mx100 which was simply getting too small to be usable. However I have been highly dissatisfied by it. In spite of 1GB onboard DRAM cache, it has a pretty hideous write behaviour where everything just slows down and it becomes somewhat unresponsive once it hits sustained write speeds of 80mb/s. Since then i have been highly apprehensive of QLC drives and i would be doubly apprehensive of one which is also without DRAM. Swapping is slow, hibernation is slow, big file operations are slow, everything much slower than on mx100 and often slower than on mechanical. Also since i went from an Ivy Bridge to a Ryzen, it had been trouble, falling off the bus on reboots. This has been largely remedied with both the SSD firmware upgrade and the mainboard BIOS update. I'm looking to upgrade to a reasonably priced gen3 nvme drive, preferably 2tb in capacity, which doesnt have to benchmark the fastest but just doesn't have performance pitfalls and reliability or other traps, just something pleasant feeling. Do you have a recommendation? SP A80? Any alternatives?
I have the same drive but on crucial storage program I can't run device self test it's Said error trying to perform a device self test but I contact the company they said not to worry about but I figured get second opinion
Mmm nah the SN770 is a better drive on paper although I haven't personally used it but its also a more expensive drive. A better competitor the SN770 would be the Crucial P5 Plus 500GB which is a similar price too. The P3 is budget and P5 is premium.
2 factors, price and what u use it for. for gaming data drive go for cheap u only need read speed. for system some recommend ssd with dram. if u moving huge files everyday go for something else that has good speed outside of cache. what specials about this qlc ssd is that the cache speed does not slow down event at 97% full. some might not like the 60mb/s outside cache, but who would be moving huge files everyday? if u donno what i m talking about, go do some research on ssd dram, ssd cache speed in and out(boost speed), qlc pros and cons
Bro i cant belive that i bought a crucial p3 gen3 for 45 dollar, existing this one, gen 4, same price , better write and better read, please dont make my error
picked up a 2tb P3 plus for my gaming pc for $130 cant really beat that price to performance. I'm very happy with it.
Very nice!
Thinking about getting one of these drives as well. Needing to upgrade from 500GB

prices for it have come down thankfully, I just got the 1TB for 60$ (USD)/ 88.07 AUS

qlc flash and no dram ??? forget it guys !! go for the samsung 980 if it is for a dramless ssd !
Is it suitable for PS5?
Is this good for gaming?
Crucial p3 plus or samsung 980. For asus tuf a15 which would be better
If you want DRAM, get the 980. But truthfully, the Crucial will do most of what you need for FAR less money.

i have the same one and for some reason on crystaldisk it shows 3400mbs
any fix?
Maybe your's have different storage size? 1tb and 2tb versions only runs at 3500mb/s or less i believe
Make sure motherboard's m.2 slot support pcie gen 4. If it is gen 3, it will run at slower speed.

At least 300tbw
Ddr4 512gb at least
TLC or MLC

Is this a bad idea to use as a primary boot drive?
Not at all!
Beware I bought the P3 4 TB, after writing 1.5 TB the performance decreased from 2500MB to 300MB on my MacBook Pro M1
That's Apple, they disable TRIM on non Apple drives to destroy them on purpose
1tb = 220 TBW is terrible! Team group MP33 is cheaper, little slower, but 600TBW endurance!!! WTF?
