His second half chemistry with Matts will likely have him starting the season on Auston’s wing. But our centre depth is problematic. Would have been nice to address this. Hopefully there are still moves to be made
If Cowan can play you play him, same with Minten. Think if MTL treated Caufield that way, that he was too young. Cole joined MTL in 2021 when he was 20, and many more examples exist. The NHL is much younger, but the Leaf brass mindset is 1980's hockey. Not to mention Leaf fans banter, "We need young talent...", and also Leaf fans "They are too young, they need to play AHL or return to juniors".
Minten and Cowan are not in the same class as Caulfield. Both need time in the minors. Cowan will play junior for another year and Minten will either play for the Marlies or in the ECHL with Cincinnati.
Robertson is not a great player he is okay offensively as a shooter but not a great playmaker, weak on the forecheck, a defensive liability and way to small for the play offs. I wish him well but he's never goingbto be a star.

He has good speed and will sometimes use his body when forechecking. The kid is 22. He’s had very limited ice time and hasn’t really had any time to gel with a line in the NHL. His Leafs tenure has been a mix of NHL, then down to the AHL for a few, then back to the show, then a healthy scratch, then moved to a different line, then start the whole cycle over again. He hasn’t been given a fair chance to just play. And last season he actually put up decent numbers considering how he’s been played. Give the kid a full season on a consistent line with consistent ice time and I think he’ll be a solid 3/4th liner. Or trade him so he gets a chance to play regularly. Do right by the player.
Maybe because he's been in the Leaf organization for what 4 or 5 years and hasn't earned a full time spot on a team that is weak in the bottom 6 and has been since he was drafted. That's how I know. @@thesportsfan3628

I got to watch a lot of Jr hockey the last 2 years and I was mildly impressed with Minten and see him as a AHL player who may get traded a lot in his career. You should study the drafts the last 20 years and see how many players in the top 20 picks never play much in the NHL. Trading Marner for even 3 1st rd picks is no guarantee you will get a 1st line player. I can't see the Leafs getting equal back in a trade for Marner so I think only an Adams would trade Marner. Stop worrying about greed he wants to stay in Toronto.
These 4 adds are not going to move the needle much. They did get bigger and nastier but are they better to the point that they can get passed the 2nd round or the ultimate goal to win the cup? They are technically running this back again. This is what happens when the core 5 take up 61.6% of your cap. They did what they could with the cap space they had. The problem here is that it's probably not enough. Marner needs to agree to a move for this needle to really move.

And McDavid is not a good example of why the team considers it because he’s an anomaly, incomparable freak of nature. Some of the blueprints are in Toronto’s very own division, yet management could never see it despite playing against these very teams multiple times a season.

Nick is a good player one day to be a great player. But he is a unique player with all the injuries he sustained. The problem is he doesn't get the respect he deserved under Sheldon . We all seen last year he was taken out of the lineup next game back he scored. How many times did that happen. I don't think Sheldon believed in him. Graig is the coach to get the max out of him.
