Great video! I’m a 777 pilot, for crossings from Europe need to request an oceanic clearance 90-60 min prior to oceanic entry fix. It comes in via CPDLC. Around the oceanic entry fix you’ll contact Gander radio just to request a SELCAL check so you don’t have to monitor HF on the crossing, and use CPDLC for primary means of communicating with controllers. “xxxx123 request SELCAL check , gander next, CPDLC” At 30 west you’ll do another SELCAL check with Gander or New York. Hope that helps. Not sure if you can get CPDLC in flight sim. A “TMI” is a track message indicator number to make sure everyone has the correct fixes for the track as they’re published every day. You’ll check the number against your paperwork.
Hi! For oceanic flights on VATSIM, we have to request an oceanic clearance at least 30 mn prior to crossing the oceanic fix on a dedicated VATSIM website page. Didn’t seem to bother the oceanic ATC though. And the phraseology is exactly the same as you described, except for the CPDLC. On VATSIM CPDLC may be used, but only for IFR clearance and enroute, not oceanic clearance yet.
Just wanna say I really _really_ love these VATSIM videos. A lot of the realistic flying content out there is full uninterrupted flights which can be fine sometimes but there's frankly a lot of dead air in most flights especially if it's not live. Nice, digestible, 10-20 minute cuts highlighting only the interesting and notable moments is a great style that I'm surprised has not been done by more people.
I just wanted to say this because non German people don´t know this: By Frankfurt Main is not meant that this is the main airport of Frankfurt. The full German name of the city is "Frankfurt am Main" and is translated to Frankfurt on the Main (river). This is because in Brandenburg, at the Polish border, there is another Frankfurt called "Frankfurt an der Oder". It´ just not to confuse things.
This is crazy, I used to work for Lufthansa at DTW and when I heard LH442 my reaction was “???” there’s no way he’s doing FRA-DTW and sure enough, that’s exactly it haha, that’s crazy
REQUEST: Next time you do one of these "super serious, long ass long haul" flights, can you also go through the boring stuff of figuring out fuel and your Vspeeds? I know it's only a sim, but it's nice to see that every once in a while. Speaking of every once in a while, would also be nice to see an occasional screw around flight and/or ATC video, like you used to do.
Awesome, flew into my hometown of Detroit! LH442 was very recently assigned the 787, so it's great to see someone recreate the flight in its current state so soon! Also, I believe those two planes at Frankfurt which seemed to be parking "sideways" at their gates were actually parking correctly, as those specific gates are oriented so that aircraft can pull in and pull out on their own, i.e. no pushback required. It did look funny because of MSFS default scenery though.
The Atlantic crossing process was great to watch. It gave me big vibes of your videos as tower, except from the other side. The default SELCAL code was the perfect exchange. It's really cool to watch you do some different types of flights. I've binged all of your VATSIM videos many times. I'm sure they don't perform as well as your more meme-oriented content but I love it.
As a native german speaker, I approve of your german accent at around 17:40. Sounds a little bit more like a swiss accent, but that's ok... keep on! Beste Grüße!

Hey, just a little heads up. When the controller in Frankfurt says "Hold short of L3/L6 or L20 etc." it is very important to not taxi into the intersection short of the runway, because tower can then decide how the sequence is.

I left my fiancée at the altar, after she casually brought up her idea that the B-2 was inspired by the Ho 229 a week prior. I was devastated. I locked myself inside my room for 4 days and 4 nights, watching and reading nothing but B-2 content. After my retreat I snuck into Whiteman Air Force Base and broke into a B-2 hangar. I knelt before the mighty Spirit of California, named after my home state, and prayed for it's forgiveness for an entire night. I was briefly interrupted by an Air Force Security Forces member. But they were scared away after I told them that Security Forces are a bunch of nerds who weren't cut out for actual Air Force SF. I returned to praying, I told the Spirit that my fiancée meant no harm, that she was misguided. But the machine spirit of the B-2 awoke and spoke to me. It told me of an apocalyptic future, one in which the world was consumed by a war involving two factions. Those who believed the B-2 and the Ho 229 are one and the same, lead by my fiancée. And those, lead by me, who believe the B-2 is a creation of Jack Northrop's spirit, who visited Northrop engineers in their sleep and implanted them with the knowledge they would need to create the B-2. Marrying my fiancée would've triggered a series of events that would lead to this cataclysmic war, from which the Earth would never recover from. I knew what I had to do. I covered myself in the B-2's sacred RAM coating and proceeded to walk back home. I walked without fear, as the B-2's RAM would keep me safe from all harm. No police officer would approach me. No woman would look me in the eyes. No Flanker could track me. And no fish would get in my way. I walked and walked until I reached a hill that overlooked the church where my wedding would take place. I stared down at the people in attendance, her family and mine, and our friends. They disgusted me. There they stood, praising and smiling towards a woman who dared to compare the B-2 to a failed German dorito chip. But my disgust soon disappeared... I could hear it. I looked up and there it was... a B-2 flying overhead. I was in awe of its majestic form. It opened it's holy bomb bay. And unleashed a load of it's sacred, all American, bombs onto the church. I watched in silence as the B-2 destroyed everything and everyone I knew. But I knew it was worth it, the Spirit gave me something I had always wanted... a fresh start away from those Ho 229 worshipping heretics. But only after I went to the hospital. Because apparently RAM coatings are extremely toxic. While in the hospital, I saw on TV that the B-2 I witnessed actually strayed off course from its intended training target. Why the crew thought a church in the middle of Los Angeles was a good alternative, I will never know. But I knew that the Spirit of California was watching over me. It loved me. And I love the B-2

The Lufthansa logo, an encircled stylized crane in flight, was created in 1918 by Otto Firle. It was part of the livery of the first German airline, Deutsche Luft-Reederei (abbreviated DLR), which began air service on February 5, 1919. In 1926, Deutsche Luft Hansa adopted this symbol, and in 1954, Lufthansa expressed continuity by adopting it, too. ~ 16:56 "...time will tell..."Rufus: "Time HAS told."
Are these folks from Germany? The ATC and pilots are close to professional, while the pilots from the U.S. are less. A hot air balloon, a trike, and a 737 taking off vertically grace the runways. Excellent job, and thanks for the entertainment during Covid.
So I’m Confused. Folks are logged in this game and doing full time “virtual” ATC and Pilot careers? In real-time? Just seems stunning there would be enough people online and committed to “keeping it real” throughout the entire journey. Hell if anyone has ever tried to get a team to play cohesively in SQUAD knows what I’m talking about. ;)
Sim people are build different. Also a lot of them are actually pilots and ATC Staff with some of them using it as a means to practice for the real world so people do take it pretty seriously.

Holy shit
Seconded- Holy shit
Who's gonna tell him it was a Ho 229 not a B-2 and he just switched them up

The return of the king
Welcome to flying over Canada. A bit further south and you would overfly my local airport in Sherbrooke, QC (CYSC), small municipal airfield for charter and flight school, single 5900ft runway
Love how you started your flight in the German equivalent of Detroit to Detroit. Also appreciate the intro ;)
Liebe Grüße aus Deutschland
I literally listened to the german part in the beginning of the video at least 20 times and I just can't decipher the last word you said... but the rest was pretty good :)
Hähnchen I think
I haven't visited the channel for a while, but it's really cool to see this type of professional ATC video, as much I loved the old ATC chaos ones. Hopefully will catch more in future.
I know it’s probably impossible but would love to have the whole 9 hour video. I honestly use it for reference for my own flying.
Personally I’d just tally up the amount of times he’d step away to take a Scheiß
Why is it everyone I see you've uploaded you make my day immediately
I'm gonna go full German and correct you at 9:25, you're not talking to Departure, but Langen Radar, a traffic station.
Love your vids and I'm just happy I finally found something :D Not that this error is in any way important.
I was in Germany and Lufthansa was a very efficient airline. They were also very polite. Thanks for the flight.
I live an hour north of Detroit and I can confirm I hear the screams of horror all the way from Romeo
guten tag zurück herr Airforceproud95
The Lufthansa logo, an encircled stylized crane in flight, was created in 1918 by Otto Firle. It was part of the livery of the first German airline, Deutsche Luft-Reederei (abbreviated DLR), which began air service on February 5, 1919. In 1926, Deutsche Luft Hansa adopted this symbol, and in 1954, Lufthansa expressed continuity by adopting it, too. ~ 16:56 "...time will tell..."Rufus: "Time HAS told."
17:10 caught me off guard and it was amazing😂
Sounded more like a Dutch accent
Got to hand it to the German chaps on vatsim, love flying through their airspace very progressional and efficient ATC, thank you all!
Gotta love that legendary German efficiency
Its a good day when AFP95 posts
that smirk when readback is CORRECT :D
im completely convinced that this guy can nail the landings of long haul flights.
You are accurate about Detroit. No need to apologize, as nobody in Detroit cares.
Michigan here, pretty much summed up Detroit. Great video.
Skyrim mods are becoming crazy realistic now
Are these folks from Germany?
So I've been watching your vids now for a month and I must say I love them but the cabin audio clips are killing me! 🤣🤣😁😁👍👍

Dang, Elden Ring looks great on PC.
I am Malenia, ATC at Leyndell
And I have never known mayday
I love hearing all the various English accents, part of the fun when traveling the World
11:32 Don’t worry, it’s just another balloon.
I like the subtle throwback to a couple years ago @ 9:39...
Man aged 25 years by growing that beard
4:35 the Condor "Passion" Livery (Red one) is actually doing the irl parking position but in msfs the jetway at this gate is really weird
19:36 famous last words 😂
As previously stated, the wild hilarity in some older videos is def one of the reasons I found you years ago, however just sitting here @930 drinking a cup of coffee and watching this super chill flight for 25 min is a fantastic start to the morning. *tips hat* thank you sir for another great video.

I flew Delta from CLT to Tokyo-Haneda via Detroit, and then back the same way a couple months back, the main terminal at Detroit is incredibly nice and if I didn't know it was a game, I would say that you had actually landed in Detroit, considering the time of my flights were at darker times of the day.
Cheesy potatoe
Love the international content.
As a Pole who can't speak German in the slightest, I have to say that you absolutely butchered that language.
The king is back.
Even with the current dip in the financial Market am still glad i can smile 😊 back at my portfolio of $ 400,000 built from my months of weekly trade
