#iCarly recently premiered on Paramount+ and I have some thoughts... The show is getting rave reviews, but there are some moments that are off putting. Dan Schneider's essences is still very much on set and this is just the start of iCarly's new era, so let's talk about what to expect next.

This reboot was not meant for younger generations to watch. It’s for the adults who grew up with iCarly and wanted to see where the storyline would go next when they aged.

Honestly, this is probably why Disney didn’t agree with Hilary to do a more mature Lizzie McGuire reboot. Because obviously people don’t get that it’s not always for children, so they label it inappropriate instead of watching what kids are watching on tv

He looks ridiculous lol. I think the lighting of the set makes it look worse than it really is.
Almost looks like he hasn't showered in a month. I don't mind the stubble though the fake mustache at one point was weird though maybe that was the point.

My problem is just that he looks the exact same. I know I know his facial hair and whatever but his face and physique has hardly changed at all. I’m not insulting him, that man is youthful as hell and will be 80 looking 45. But they should be giving him hair, makeup, and wardrobe that age him up, not make him look like he’s playing grown ups 😭
It was so hard to see him as an actual step dad to the little girl, let alone already going through two divorces.
as much as i love jeannette, she should never step back into the show. as an abuse survivor, i think it would trigger way too many bad memories & cause her to relapse into a lot of negative habits as coping mechanisms. she has flourished much more outside the hollywood scene
yes, but i do hope she does at least try a cameo or something within the show, but i 100% respect her wishes, but who knows things can change but i do wish the best for its awful going through abuse i was also there not physically but verbally and emotionally
Not to mention Sams character was also toxic towards Freddie and Carly. I didn't notice how toxic she was until rewatching the series as an adult.
I actually love Harpers character more than Sams. She's a breath of fresh air for the show and its nice to see Carly and Freddie have a best friend who doesn't abuse them or take advantage of them.

She also said she hated doing that show. She bashed it but loves her cast. And yeah I’m sure it would’ve been way better with her in it but if she doesn’t want to act anymore we have to respect that. The good thing is that she’s doing great and is healthy. I still haven’t seen the show but I’ll probably check it out sometime

For those who don’t know the icarly reboot is made for people like me who were 11-12 when the original show came out and now are adults so that’s why it has more mature content even nathan kress said it himself that the show is not for younger audiences it’s a mature show
Yet sloan will still try and find a way to make everything "problematic" as he would call it. Literally the video title suggests it's gonna be a review type thing but he still finds a way to talk about Dan Schneider and the inappropriate things mentioned in past videos

Remember that the Lizzie Mcguire reboot was a no go? Because they would not allow Lizzie to portray an authentic 30 year old, they wanted the Disney 30 year old.

Unless you consider Carly's new friend getting up from the sofa telling Milicent to hush while waving her hand aside. It did look like she was waving away Schneider's name but I think it's all a coincidence.

It’s be interesting if they slapped the Gibby’s logo on a takeout bag or box in some scene, or even just bring up the restaurant in general.

I think the podiatrist thing during the breakup was something symbolic to represent they're "breaking up" with the idea of feet involved in the show.
They don't even explicitly say the word "feet" and we don't see any more feet references after that.

The parents shouldn't be concerned. Simply just don't let your kids watch an adult themed show. They said multiple times that this show was going to be older, more mature and adultish now, so they should have expected that. People don't know how to listen.
I definitely hope they expand on Carly’s relationship with her parents. I’ve also been wondering if they’re gonna expand on Carly and Freddie’s relationship. I’m hoping there’s more of a daughter father development with millicent and Freddie bc they kind of seem like a brother/ annoying sister dynamic. Like her character would make more sense being someone’s annoying sister tbh…not as a Freddie’s adopted daughter lol.
They said in an interview that there will be some spicy moments, so taht can be between carly and freddie i think it will start their relationship but it can also be between spencer and harper or both we might get a foursome 😏 yeah thats impossible

I loved that! It really just shows that the people who wrote the reboot kept in mind how the characters acted in the original. I love that they didn’t switch it up too much. I was like “that is so something Carly would do!”

I was taught as a kid adult jokes were hidden in kids shows bc it gave the adults a lil entertainment while watching with their kids bc they knew the jokes would go over their kids heads. That's why there is such a nostalgia to watching those shows back as an adult and noticing a lot more than you did when watching as a kid. The reboot takes that to another level. It's a kids show revamped to their older years so their adults now... They can make adult jokes. If you had issues with it you are just searching for problems at this point and should probably go read a book or go outside cause licking the windows isn't helping you. Respectfully.

I think they should have put his name at the end credits, last. They also should have said “based on a show by Dan” just so he doesn’t get that much credit
Unfortunately, they may be obligated by copyright law or contractually obligated to do so. Sometimes those are so iron clad, it's almost impossible to get out of.
I don't like the little girl Millicent's role, the borderline bullying character is annoying and not funny. I don't like Nora's role either. Freddie's character is good & they should bring out his mother more because they're funnier together. Harper's character is kind of overly sexualized, pushing too hard that it's an adult show. They should ease on that some and talk more about her & Carly's history of friendship. Spencer's character is good, but would like him to continue doing more inventions on the show. Carly is good but I think it's kind of weird on how they make her look like she's a little too desperate on finding & maintaining a boyfriend. I know Jennette's past with Dan, but if she ever does decide to return as Sam, even for like one episode it would bring so much more natural comedy to the series & the ratings will soar.
From the clips it seem that she was trying to hard, the Harper character.

Even if Sam never comes back (which would be more than okay because of Jennette's experience), I hope they extended the invitation anyway as an open ended thing. Like "Hey, we'd love for this to happen but only on your terms and at your will." I can wish even if it's understandable why it'll likely never happen.
Miranda, Jerry, and Nathan said in a recent interview that they did want Jennette to return, but want to respect her wishes and that the door is always open for her if she were to change her mind. It does sound like they still care about her.
Miranda and Jennette were still best friends in real life in 2017 (that’s the last time either of them have spoken about it) so I think she for sure would have been invited on the show

Some say she is pan. I used to not be able to tell the difference between bi and pan but apparently pan you want to be with Trans and non binary too.

The difference between the two sexualities can be vague and up to the person identifying as such, but it is definitely less about "who" and more about "how" - people who label themselves as pansexual are most commonly attracted regardless of gender or without a preference, while bisexual people can lean more towards one side or experience attraction to people of certain genders differently 😊

I don't need some kid's parents ruining this. If you're letting your children watch adult content, that's fine. But don't start saying it's inappropriate, when you know who the target audience is.
That part where Carly is talking to her love interest regarding the podiatrist: did anyone notice the random foot that popped up in the background while Carly was talking? It happened pretty fast. Spencer & Freddie was in the back spying on them and they slid behind the couch. Even that is weird along with the conversation.
I didn't watch iCarly, but at that point Nickelodeon was even more strange at that point in time. I refused to watch anything else other than Spongebob (even the newer episodes are weird & gross).
Yoooo I just watched this video slowed all the way down and u can see it clear as day when they talk about the foot doctor. That’s wild 😲
I enjoyed it, the original audience is now older and mature and they reflected it.
I just wish we can make new original shows instead of bringing back more reboots I just feel like it's lazy thinking to do that idk it's just me.

Theres so much they could explore after carly finished her college and etc. Likewise, i havent really grown up watching victorious that much and i dont see a revival necessary for it plus i dont want one.

I actually enjoyed the reboot episodes. I got paramount+ just for this show because it's basically a new season but aimed towards the crowd that grew up with the series and not for children like how most reboots are.

I love almost everything about this show. The only character that I dislike is Freddy's step-daughter. I feel like she was kind of just thrown in there because they needed another character. I think they were better off making Freddy gay and having a husband or something. But hopefully she gets better throughout the show

I for sure hope that Jennette can come back to the show, but of course it’s always her choice whether she wants to or not. That can then cause some more Seddie moments since most of us know that both of them kinda got together in the Killer Fish episode in Sam & Cat. I’m just not looking forward for the Creddie part since again, I’m not a huge fan of it and I personally think they’d be better off being friends (no hate). But I mean, we never know what could happen but still, I really wish that she could come back so that my dream for this show can be fulfilled. I was also really surprised about the Lewbert and Nora getting married in real life, I am just amazed and shocked.

I love the idea of an iCarly reboot but the amount of up-to-date culture that is mentioned feels kind of toxic. The last part of the art gallery scene was kind of funny to me because Spencers view on “art” is how i feel😂 so I’m glad they included that. I hope in the upcoming episodes they chill on the “todays way of internet and culture” and make it feel more like the original iCarly.

The reason why the reason why the new iCarly is more adult is because it's for the original viewers that grew up with the original show I'm 28 years ago I look forward to seeing the rest of the season
