    I found a piece of paper today that fell out of a girl’s diary today.
    She described this man that she really, really liked. She wrote that she loved him and the way he made her feel, and she said “the way he carries himself makes me weak at the knees. I love him”
    I must learn these ways

    Every man wants to be respected and we all want to be considered "alpha" by society's standard, but the problem comes when we as black men are caught up in the stare-down contest to prove who is more intimidating. I feel that the black community has this the worst because a lot of us were raised in constant "survival mode" in sub par environments. We feel we can't afford to smile, be friendly and enjoy life. I feel it's a shame that we have to be super serious all the time and if we don't then we're considered punks or not worth basic human respect. I agree I want to be perceived as alpha, but I also have to deal with challenges of other black men trying to size me up, stare down contests, and white people afraid to talk to you. It can be exhausting at times.

      You're exactly right... I used to be the type to have the "staring contest" to see if dude will turn his head first which symbolize to me weakness... now until I actually thought about it. Everything we consistently do becomes a unconscious habit. Therefore if I want to conduct business with others who are further along than I, approaching them with a stare isn't going to help cut a deal... smiling, speaking, being polite doesn't make a man less alpha etc ... it actually makes a man more alpha because he understand who he is and doesn't care what anyone else thinks...

    A firm handshake is well respected, however, a handshake that is obviously overdone and too hard subtly conveys just as much insecurity as a handshake that is too weak. If someone were to shake my hand overly hard, it would make me think of Sun Tzu's "act strong when you are weak," quote and I'd read them for insecurity and weakness.

    • @emanbrutus2044
      @emanbrutus2044 4 місяці тому

      Sometimes a overtly strong handshake is a way for the person committing that act to throw you off balance intentionally. A good example would be Trump’s famous handshake where he pulls you off balance. It’s actually a very effective technique in order to establish dominance and gaining power over someone else.

    I have a request. Could you do a video about how rejection affects women, since women rarely experience sexual rejection. It would be good to see how women react to it and what it does to their ego

    • @RomWills
      @RomWills  7 років тому +56

      That's a good one because women do not take rejection very well.

    • @zor2334
      @zor2334 7 років тому +7

      Kirjath Hockaday
      Women do experience sexual rejection, just not the way men do. The sexual rejection that damages, often crushes a woman's ego, is when the man she loves and trusts cheats on her. When an affait or cheating is discovered, a lot of women immediately start to pick themselves apart and doubt that they were meeting their man's needs sexually. They ask "Why would he need to seek sex elsewhere if I was satisfying him? What does she have that I don't, etc....) Trust and believe we women do experience sexual rejection and it HURTS! Both men and women experience rejection, just in different ways. Hope that helps.

    I've gotten weak handshakes from my boss at my second job. I've even politely addressed the handshakes with him. He looks out for me and helps me with my future business plans though. What could I do? He runs a black owned business, is successful at 52 yrs old, out of shape average looking and dates pretty women younger then me. I'm 35. As a black man, I carry in a way than what is perceived there are others who assume that I am "behaving white." My response, " I hope you have a good day!" Adding that with eye contact and a smile. When you change the misconceptions about yourself, people will either disarm themselves and talk with you or they may see you like something as "not being black enough." My learning of carrying myself was reading the book "Superman to Man" by J. A. Rogers.

Ive had to monitor myself when dealing with people all my life and its hard. People like to push buttons then play victim when it get too hot. And if you dont like to make people feel bad, theyll use it against you to fuck you up. Its almost 2017, people are getting worse and the darkside has won me lol.

    Thorough presentation. Birds of a Feather in terms of the drawing respect from others thing. My best friend told me he knew who I was by how people spoke of me when I wasn't around and how much people respected me in person when he first saw me. I've had girlfriends tell me how much they feared disappointing me... Just had this recently, in fact... I've gotta work on the Cop thing... I always feel the fear from them and it makes me extremely nervous, especially when I don't do things to draw attention from law enforcement.

    good content Brother, what your saying is real!, eye contact, presence, strong hand shakes!, some of these cats with bigger statures like some of these wanna be thugs will try to intimidate you covertly it's the silent interactions that take place and how you handle them that define your character.And you are right, it's your body language how you speak and how you carry yourself that makes you a man!, people make perceptions off of that. I,am just now starting back on my workout it makes me feel better and it adds to my confidence, and I like the fact that if a asshole tries to size me up even if he,s bigger than me, fuckin with me will not be a walk in the park!, but I know there is more to a man the just muscle!, but you have to stand up for yourself. our community and some of the younger generations are fatherless!, I had a father but he wasn't active, so I was still fatherless. Some of them think that saggin there pants is being hard are savage and this is supposed to strike fear in those who encounter them , and it in some strange way makes them feel Manley or powerful ,but in the penitentiary it's a while different situation, it doesn't translate.a man should carry his self like a man! but be smart enough to side step the B.S that might try to bring him to a lower level. Thank You Brother for this video!!! This is Confirmation For Men.

    One of your realest vids I done watched this one at least 10x straight 🔥🔥🔥 make me think about when I was a lil one in the neighborhood it was level of respect we had for the men that they demanded from us. It’s hard to respect the males in those positions these days.

    I've always wondered why? I have talked to different women and the courtesy that I received would leave me scratching my head. Alot of them would address me as sir.
    I wouldn't go out of my way to impress them. There have been times I would just say hello, her response would be "hello sir".
    I am 46 years old. I figured I was just getting up there in age. However, women around my age and older, same thing. I've been asked many times. "Have you ever served in the military"? The answer is no. My question is how can I make my demeanor work for me even more.

    Interesting story u told. I’m a black young man and for as long as I can remember when I used to walk into a store or something dudes would be sagging but would always pull their pants up after seeing me walk in. This happens almost every time without fail. Something in my initial demeanor I guess

    Handshakes is one thing because personally I don’t ever think about it, granted I don’t have a weak handshake so I don’t have too. So personally I wouldn’t hold it against someone unless they really given a weak handshake, some shit you do with a girl. But the eyes, yea, you can’t look me in my eyes(no homo) then yea I find it weird. I’ve been told I’m intimidating too, so any dude who can carry a conversation with me without batting away instantly gets more respect then the next guy. Not saying we have to have a staring contest, cus that shit is weird as hell. Only time I won’t look a dude in the eye is in that case, and it’s only because at that point its like we staring into each other’s souls, which I only do with females, and they love it when I do dat lol

    I noticed that some of these women fall in love with the wrong men some less masulant some of these men today are making the women in charge of and controlling. I remember back in the 80s and 90s growing up witch I was born in 1977.. I was with my father riding my bike when I ask him to borrow one of his wrench when I took my own training wheels off..Also in the mid 90s my step father teach me how to drive when I went to driving school Iand got my license in the end of 96 when i was in high school. I remember back in the day my mom work and my dad work and took me and my sister to day care they were working class. Also while back my father used to travel as we lived in Houston then moved from Boston and that we moved to New York then Pennsylvania. My life changed since I was little it was very interesting we had a 4 bedroom house was like one of the houses with gates and the swing set. Can I had a hamster as a pet in my parents had a goldfish. It was very interesting I look back on how I prove myself. It was a great life back then more than it is now.
