Dang, R. Dub! That's like asking me to pick one tune from the Great American Songbook of jazz standards. When there are hundreds to choose from, you can never pick just one. I love 'em all!
Good choices except for the hatred of of the 6mm caliber for hunting. For Whitetails and smaller game, they are more than adequate. With no recoil and a flat trajectory, the 243 and 6CM are perfect deer slayers.
@@ReloadingWeatherby I might consider the 25's if there was readily available ammo and components. To my knowledge, I have never seen either on sale in my area.
🤠 It, just like our hosts here, is on my short list! If I could get it in a Sako rifle, it would be my next hunting rifle purchase! 🤑 It is a "Very Sensible Choice"! 👨⚖

35 Whelen, can use pistol bullets 70gr to 125gr for plinking, small game, varmints....140gr to 200gr for up to deer sized game,...220 to 270 for elk, caribou, moose, bear...270 to 310, Bison, Africa big 5....should be able to cover just about everything. Maybe not optimal for everything, but if I had one in a suppressed pump rem, I would think I could take anything on earth from mice to elephant.
For the 6mm I have a .243. If I had a choice it would be NOTHING CREEDMOOR, but I would build a 6mm Remington with an 8 inch twist. 25s---I'd build a 257 Roberts or even a 250 Savage (probably better on barrels). Right now my .25-06 will do.

Hard to argue with the 300 wby in North America.picture this you are confronted with a 1000 pound pist off brown bear and you have a 6.5 creed good luck
🤔 Yes, because we also get to hear them discuss their reasoning WHY they chose WHAT they chose and also for them to QUESTION each other (cartridge Pro's and Con's)! 😯 It is "MUCH MORE INTERESTING"! 😃
🤠 Out to 400 yards, it is a fine choice for "Big Critters"! My friend, who had one and killed many elk with it, called it "A Thinking Man's Magnum"! 🤔 Very practical indeed! 👨⚖ He was a very successful elk hunter too! 🤑
Very cool video! If I had to pick one it’d be easy 30-06! I’m actually going to South Africa later this year. Something I’ve dreamed of my whole life figured I better go before I get too much older. Hunting buffalo and plains game. I’m taking my AHR 450 Rigby and my Winchester Model 70 375 Remington Ultra magnum
Really interesting video! Somehow, I missed this one a couple of weeks ago. Just commenting on the top end of the calibers, I would love to have a 416 Barrett! I can’t have a 50 BMG. But, I still like the Barrett anyway. For African DG, I’d probably go with a 416 Wby. I know that a 416 Rem Mag is more practical. A 416 Rigby, though nostalgic, is more expensive than the Rem. version. I used to have both of them. Anyway, I’d like to try a 416 Wby., next, if getting another 416 for hunting purposes.
🤠 Because I reload, I would choose the 300 Weatherby! 🤑 If I did not, then the best factory option would be the 300 Winchester, because it has the most 190 grain and up bullet options! 🥳 The 30-06 does have several 220 grain factory loads and is more versatility than the 300wsm, which stops at 190 grains, but just doesn't push the bullet as fast! 🤷♂️ So, for me, make it the 300 Weatherby! 👨⚖
🤠 My cartridge picks (by caliber) and some added Historical Facts (see if you see any pattern here?): 17's - None; 20 - 204 Ruger; 22 - 223 Remington; 24 - 6 Creedmore; 25 - 25-06; 264 - 6.5 prc (#2 choice: 6.5-06); 270 - 270 Winchester; 28 - 280 AI; 30 - 300 WBY (#2 choice 30-06); 325 (8mm) - 325 wsm; 338 - 338 Federal (#2 choice - 338-06); 35 - 35 Whelen; 375 - 375 Ruger; 416 - 416 Rigby! Note that it was Jack O'Conner that not only revived the 416 Rigby, but (because of His Friendship With Roy Weatherby and Showing Roy His African Safari Cartridge Choice), inspired the creation of both the 378, 416, and 460 Weatherby Magnum's! Also, note that of the 13 cartridges that I picked, 7 of my choices (or alternates) are based upon the 30-06 case! The two rifles that I want next, for hunting, will be the 280 AI and the 35 Whelen (both based off of the 30-06 case and are real practical choices)! 😁
So are we not allowed to have an opinion on a cartridge if we haven't shot it? Understandably having experience with the cartridge is preferred, but... it is just our opinion. Guess you have to take it with a grain of salt.
I have the following Weatherby Cartridges below, I would not mind if we could hook up for you to shoot some of them: 240 Weatherby Magnum 257.
