I loved when the dispatcher said "Good heavens" ! lol The dispatcher sounded like such a sweetheart, and the homeowner was pretty tough. Good for you, not letting them ruin your beautiful country home. The Good Guys win again ! :)
Whoever loads these episodes.... THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart!! You bring back SO many memories from when I was real little! This was my favorite show!!
I became a deputy sheriff in 2002 I was 23. I remember my probationary year how the adrenalin would surge wildly when calls like this came out. My very first call came out over the radio as a 10-80 intrusion with the occupant, a lone female hiding in her closet. I was the closest at 18 miles away and I'm hear to tell ya its a very unsettling feeling when you know someone is in a life or death situation and its up to you to help. Midnite on a Saturday in January rural northern Maine can be rough. I put my high speed driving skills to the test this night, and really broke in that new crown vic. Long story short, 3 miles from the residence dispatch tells me the intruder was scared off by the burglar alarm and took off in a red mustang, and within a mile he blew by me and the pursuit was on. Between help from state police spike strip and my PIT we shut him down 8 miles later. Homeowner was rattled but unharmed, bad guy had a few scrapes and I had to explain how I scuffed the fender of my brand new only 700 miles crown vic...ooops time to install the push bar.
not always , most of the time that alone scares them off , they most likely dont think people are home . but not having a gun is stupid if you are legal and responsible
Well it's kind of a trade-off. In a rural area there's a lot less of a chance that someone is going to break into your house in the first place, but if they do it's going to take longer for help to get there. I am currently living in the city after having lived on the outskirts of a small town, and I hear about way more break-ins on the news here in the city.
I am so glad I was able to find this show this was my favorite show when I was like 10 they need to put this on dvd or blu ray thank you so much for this person for uploading this is such a great show and a great host William shanter was great
30 years have passed since this happened. This happened on a Monday and the day before New Year's Eve. If a burglar is in my house, something tells me I would say “Go away” but on second thought, I shouldn’t say anything because who knows what he’ll do. I don’t want to think about it. I'm sure Carol said "Thank you" to Officer Montgomery and can never thank him enough.
That probably happens a lot more often near the city. This was rural area, but it probably wasn't too far outside of Knoxville (which is a fair sized city).
Thank god that cop made it there on time. I was holding my breath, lol. I'm glad it turned out ok. It's a beautiful home and I'm glad she's still enjoying it.
No, but I live very close to the state line (I could be in Tennessee in ten minutes). There are some days in the winter when it gets up into the 60's, but those are rare. It's usually in the 40's or below.
I live in Charlotte, North Carolina and there are no leaves on the trees but it’s a bit warm here at the moment. We’re in a La Niña but it’s going to weekend next week.
A lot of cops have tasers these days, but that's new in a lot of areas. I remember seeing a report on my local news just a couple of years ago about how cops in my area are starting to use them. The report said the cops have to be shot with the taser before they can use it, so they know how it feels.
my uncle told me she left stains on the inside of the toilet bowl after using the rest room that day which is a first for her. She never leaves stains on the bowl.
The Headless Horseman I hope your aunt is still doing well. I worked at Knox Co. 911 then and assisted Joyce on the call. I got to come out to the house to meet your aunt and uncle when this happened. She was a wonderful, sweet lady. We were scared to death for her that day for real!
It’s been 28 years since this happened. If something like this happened to me, I’d be scarred for a long time. If I heard an intruder trying to break into the room where I’m in, I’d say “Go away!”
I cry everytime i watch this.. when she runs out & hugs the officer . Then at the end when both her and her husband choke up . I am soo happy she wasn't harmed and that both suspects were arrested. What a Beautiful home .. I'd get me a couple Rottweiler's, Doberman's or German Shepherds and a gun or two!
This happened right in my hometown of Knoxville. Even Knoxville has to deal with break-ins. Thankfully, the part of Knoxville I live in doesn't have this problem very often. Though I can confirm that an oil spill happened there in 2002. My family had to be evacuated that year.
At the time this happened my family and I were living in Fountain Hills, Arizona. I was 9 in 3rd grade and my brother was 7 in 1st grade. This happened two years before I moved to Charlotte, North Carolina.
It’s been 33 years since this happened. If it was seven o’clock in Knoxville when this happened, it was five in the morning in Arizona because of the different time zones.
RULE #1: If you suspect someone is in your house FORCE-ABLY, do not scream out "WHO IS IT?" you might as well just say "hey I'm right here, kill me now!"
So glad they got a dog! With my experience...though never had no intruders...thank You Lord! But if I'm alone and someone delivers a package from Fed ex my dog' a small terrier...I just feel comforted knowing he is there!
I'm proud of the officer who took out the keys out of ignition besides who leaves their car unattended with the car doors open and the the keys in the ignition that's a No-No like breaking into that house or or a house for a matter or bank or store or anything
@Allgood2000 When I Was Home alone From School And When I To Start Call My Aunt Jana And Nobody is home And Somebody Just Broke My Front Door And I Called 911 For Help It Frighten me I Was Hiding In My Basement And I Grabbed My House Phone It Still Frighten me When I Ask Him To Stop
I have had several situations in my life that in which I was required to call the cops for help. I can honestly say I agree with this woman 100%. There is NOTHING that looks better than a police car pulling up to your house, or an officer standing at your door when you are terrified for your life!!
I totally agree with that point that is why we need the 2amendmen and is why I'm voting for DONALDJ TRUMP four years for PRESIDENT THANK you mr PRESIDENT sir
The cop reaffirmed why I've thought people become cops . . . to be thought of as heroes. Not to "give back to their community", not to serve others, but to be worshipped as heroes.

@CombatSportFan if you are going to shoot someone you shoot to kill them. If you wound them they could sue you. If you lose you are paying their medical bills for life. If you shoot them, the most the family can sue for is the cost of a one time funeral.
Deputy Montgomery passed in 2017 aged 60 and 911 operator Joyce Estes in 2020 at age 78. May the both rest in peace 🙏
How sad.
Aww may they indeed Rest In Peace there both heroes for saving her life they did there job like they should incredible people.
Rest in peace to two beautiful angels
I saw that deputy Montgomery passed away
Carol's husband Stephen died last Thanksgiving

That dispatcher is such a sweet doll
The dispatcher is such a great lady what a sweetheart trying her best to keep the caller calm it’s not easy what a scary situation.
I thought so too. I just googled her name and sadly she passed away a couple months ago. You could tell she was a genuinely good person.
@@travel4fun003 oh no am sorry to hear that may she Rest In Peace I think she lived a great life thank you for letting me know.🙏🏻
That 911 call was just too cute! I hope those two became friends!
I love the dispatcher! I also love how the officer held her. That was touching!
I love her to so kind patient and so caring we need more dispatcher like Joyce.
Yelling “who is it“ when you hear knocking/banging, knowing full well that your house is being burglarized…
Yeah, real smart.
@Chris Bradley you don’t respond if someone breaks in now if it was the police the 911 dispatcher would tell her that a cop is at your house
I love that operator lol "good heavens"

Never ever let a burglar know you're there
@Temple Garbage Trucks What if thay have a gun then what would you do
I won’t.
Usually if they see someone is home or a light on if it’s at night they’ll leave
I will let them see my shotgun and then they will see Jesus or hell
not always , most of the time that alone scares them off , they most likely dont think people are home . but not having a gun is stupid if you are legal and responsible

Im blown away by how calm she was!
Pretty sure the dispatcher played a huge great part it by keeping her calm and relaxed.
As a grown up man, I cried, beautiful!!
8:31, it's like a mother hugging her son.
+Jessy Leppert I started to tear up... :D
Ferbs me too
I just saw that the dispatcher Joyce Estes passed away at the age of 78 on December 10, 2020.
And Deputy Terry Montgomery died in 2017
Aww 😢😢
That probably happens a lot more often near the city. This was rural area, but it probably wasn't too far outside of Knoxville (which is a fair sized city).
Terry Montgomery, Joyce Estees and Stephen Tokay have all since passed away.
7:30 seeing the cup push the punk down on his face gave me a chuckle 😅
Thank god that cop made it there on time. I was holding my breath, lol. I'm glad it turned out ok. It's a beautiful home and I'm glad she's still enjoying it.
I love this dispatcher ❤
The preview of the segment that comes after this one looks interesting I hope you post it soon. Thanks for posting these!

allgood2000 i live right outside of knowxville
she yells who is it then goes back to whispering. If you don't want them to hear you, don't yell who is it
That was so dumb on her part.
Did anyone notice that the incident took place in the middle of winter, but the re-enactment was obviously filmed in the summer?
allgood2000 this is Tennessee our weather is bipolar
@@raeannajenkins5921 It is here in Alabama too.

That 911 dispatcher was so nice!
They re-enacted it in the summer of 1993. Also note that it's supposed to be December, but there are leaves on the trees.

Yes, thank you so much! I missed getting to watch this show!
love that dispatcher "good heavens" . she hoped that the victim had a gun or something , today they just tell you not to use one just hope essentially
see THIS is why i keep a knife hidden near when i sleep, and i have a special motion sensor outside my bedroom door, which is on.
This happens to be my aunt and I just wanted to verify that she did go to the rest room ;)
how is she doing?? does she still live at this house??
shes doing good. She went to the bathroom for a long time after the cops left her
my uncle told me she left stains on the inside of the toilet bowl after using the rest room that day which is a first for her. She never leaves stains on the bowl.

I really! Feel like it's a miracle that this woman survived a house robbery❤

It's good to see that the people didn't let the one incident keep them from staying and otherwise having a good life in the country.
2:03 everytime my dog comes in the house I end up calling 911 because he kicks the door in
Not in Tennessee. The leaves would also be off the trees in December.
allgood2000 it's a reenactment
Sweetest 911 operator ever!
I live in Knoxville. Born there and still live there.
Sad just looked up the officer. Terry. He passed away in 2017 at age 60.
That's sad. He was a great cop.
😪
So young. He was how all cops should be.
I guess they assume everyone is at work and no one will see them.
I've never heard of a bathroom without a lock.
I think I've only lived in a few houses over the years that did have a lock on the bathroom door 🙃
Glad she eas okay. God Bless the police that got there just in time. Amen.
God bless to the dispatcher Joyce and the officer for saving her life the caller called right away glad she survived to.
Gotta love those classic lightbar close-ups

Officer Montgomery died in 2017 at age 60
Sad.
Why would you yell "who is it"? Just shut up, stay quiet and get out if you can.
That officer is very smart taken the keys from the criminal car increíble thinking.
Especially in the county where response times can be dramatically increased.
the 911 operator call her " honey " l guess they known each other pretty dam good ! lol, lol

If you're in a bathroom, you have a weapon. The back lid of the toilet works great. Grab it, be ready, and strike as soon as they come in.

How did the second suspect turn himself in?
Sadly "Rocky" the dog is no longer with us, in fact most of the older people you see in these episodes are dead and gone!
raterus The 911 dispatcher is still alive and doing well.
:(
that's true

The woman handled it well.
Why in the hell would you yell who is it?
