This was a reenactment. I will attempt to address some questions I see posted. The cat used on the show was a lynx since no animal trainers had a bobcat that could be tamed and handled. It was a little taller than the actual bobcat and about 5 pounds heavier. The bobcat did have a small cut over it's eye as a result of breaking the window but did not require treatment. The bobcat was a lot more aggressive that the lynx used in the show. I am the Sergeant from animal control that responded.
LOL at the guy's response when he sees the Bobcat. I had to replay to over and over. You can just her the sheer shock/terror in his voice when he sees the Bobcat.
Same!!! I was just telling my kids about it the other day. I was probably 6 of 7 when this episode came out. I decided to listen to a playlist of this while I was showering and I heard "Bobcat" and couldn't stop laughing. Oh, to be a kid again.
Operator: 1-15, Can you ask [him] if he laid the phone on the floor? Police: That's affirmed Op: 10-4, I think he's eating it. P: The RP? Op: Negative, the cat. (muffled laughter) Lol
LOL I love, love, love, love, LOVE CATS! But a cat as big as that thing i'd be terrified! When Robert turned on the kitchen light and the way they revealed the cat on the counter behind him scared me more than when he screamed in surprised when he saw the cat! It was like right out of a horror film or something. In a way, i'm glad he didn't kill the cat or have to and this turned out to be a cute episode! This and the "mannequin burglar" are my favorite Rescue 911 segments.
I have four cat burglars. They stole my heart. Thank you for the 911 episodes. I have always loved this show. Thank you to all the people that helped make sure this beautiful cat made it back to the wild safely.
Most of them are re-enactments. If it's actual footage, Shatner will say so in the beginning, or a note will appear on the bottom of the screen (like the "Actual Call" indicator at 1:18)
This is something that a lot of Californians have to get used to out here (I live in the Bay Area)...we live in a state full of mountains and hills so there are many wild animals around (bears, bobcats, cougars, etc). The best thing to do is what the animal control guy said-leave them alone. Glad to see neither this man nor the cat were harmed and the cat went back to his natural habitat to roam free.
That bobcat was a literal version of a cat burglar! I wonder what he wanted to steal. I could be wrong, but I think San Clemente is near Huntington Beach. My sweet love, Johnny and I want to build a house near the ocean in Huntington Beach. Hopefully we won't be scared out of our minds by a bobcat!
I remember watching this episode years ago as a child then walking into the kitchen and my cat was sitting on the counter just looking at me! Scared the everloving shit out of me and she had never jumped up there before lol
That reminds me of years ago when I was in 4th grade, I was home, reading in my text book about earthquakes while sitting on a recliner we had when all of a sudden the recliner start shaking. That definitely scared me, but all it was was our cat on the back of it, scratching lol.
The Spencs Music Covers didn't you hear the glass? he jumped through the window. Guessing his thick fur coat prevented the glass from injury (broken glass cuts you up pretty badly)
According to the article about the incident, he was actually scared off by Mr. Morey's dogs and he ran inside to get away. The way he was looking at that toaster, though, I think he actually was hungry.

He might of thought his reflection was another bobcat wanting to have a fight with him. I know a story a deer jumped through a window for that reason. As far as we know the only species intelligent enough to recognize thier own reflection are humans chimpanzees and elephants. Other then that when animals see thier reflection in glass they don't know it.
@vickiormindyb Panther? But most panthers are actually just Jaguars or leopards that're melanistic and they don't purr. Maybe if it's a melanistic Puma, because Pumas purr.
He is cute but this cat is most likely hungry I don’t think he wants to attack but is protecting himself but oh yes I love cats and there cute no matter what size.
I think that Bobcats are more scared of us, then we are of them, Because We're bigger then they are, Heaven knows how many of them are left in the wild.
My Oma almost pet a bobcat when she was young. My great grandma (my omas mom) was watching her while she was going back to the house from the outhouse and my Oma thought she saw a little pet cat but her mom yelled saying get in the house because it was a bobcat. She she ran inside and it ran after her and so it just ran into the door when she closed it. XD it was funny when she told me

Robert Morey Jr. was under suspicion that someone broke into his house in San Clemente, CA and finds out that the intruder is a bobcat.

The Pet Bobcat was like: " Stay here with me, I won't hurt you. I'll just keep you company.

This is the funniest Rescue 911's I've ever seen!
Try watching the episode with the burglar who tried to come in through the chimney, and got stuck upside down; it's entitled CHIMNEY TRAPPED CROOK.
Then I guess you haven't seen the "Chimney Trapped Crook" yet.
mastergx1 Nah, the one where that stupid lady wanted the police to arrest a dummy is funnier.
I think "Laundry Chute Lad" is the funniest, although the part where the guy walks into the wall in "Plaster of Peril" gets me every time.

It feels good to see these episodes once again.
I'm sorry, but this is one of the few Rescue 911 episodes that made me laugh a bit XD.
Just a combo of the growling and the "I think he's eating it"
Of course, when the bobcat gets back into the wild and tries to tell his friends, they'll all think he's a liar or a nutter.
Lol

That's not a cat that would sit in your lap and purr, that type of cat would see a human as lunch.
@@scotthayes5933 an adult as lunch. No. A small child under 4 years old maybe. It's more so that cat would attack because it thinks it's being harmed
At least try to look as big as possible. No animal would dare attack something much bigger than itself.
I bet this is the first time ever, those cops told anyone to keep a gun in thier hand, rather then saying drop it.
@MusicManiac1315 That'll just cause the cat to give chase and attack, since running mimics the behaviors of their prey.

It goes to show how bobcats are desperate for food but this a 1st a bobcat getting through a window
You should go. Bobcats live in Virginia, too. Plus, I've been to three national parks in California and I never saw any wildcats.
Unbelievable that the dispatcher did not know the difference between a bobcat and a mountain lion. Pitiful.
In some states, Bobcats and Mountain Lions are in the same area
At the end of this segment, the home owner said he's dealt with Bobcats and Mountain Lions in his backyard.
Yep, actually he is in real estate, I looked up his name online.
