It's great how Reading Rainbow, as a kids show, does not "dumb it down" for the kids and makes it enjoyable for adults too. They treat the kids with respect like little adults.
Reading Rainbow and Mr. Rodgers Neighborhood. 2 shows that told the truth in a way that young minds could understand it. 2 shows that im glad i had the chance to see.
I remember watching this on Prime Video and I had to look at the production code on the clapboard which is how I found out that it was season 1, episode 22.
I remember when this episode came out. I loved RR and my daddy loved TNG. When they showed all the behind the scenes footage specifically the sparkles/beam up he just couldn’t take it. It was stealing the magic of the show and I couldn’t watch that episode with him 😂😂. We still tease him about that today.
I remember being in the other room doing whatever and my mom frantically telling me to run so I could see this episode! Then, during commercials, I would flip the channels over to where Next Gen was playing!
I can't believe some jerks tried to say he was brainwashing kids. I grew up watching Levar Burton on Reading Rainbow when I was a kid and I was even in the Reading Rainbow Readers Club. Plus, through reading you could earn free pizza at Pizza Hut. He is who kept me interested in reading as a child. He's such a wonderful human being.
Love this, but it was so weird seeing LeVar on the Bridge out of uniform and without his visor (I watched TNG with Mom when I was little and I'm rewatching it with Mom as an adult).
Before UA-cam or any of the current video editors today it was a lot more complex back then. Though I was exposed to it at a young age, my dad was a photographer and videographer for the news, it always strikes me as something so massive with so many running parts.
patrick was pushing 47 during tng season 1... in 1987. frakes was 35 spiner was 38 dorn was 35 sirtis was 32 mcfadden was 38 burton and crosby were both 30 wil wheaton being the baby on the show at age 15
Hope that film reel Levar has there wasn't actual footage they'd just shot as that isn't exactly the most delicate way to handle film negatives. Hope it's a duplicate at least so he can freely handle it like that😄Trying to get a good look at those negative frames on the film at 6:13.
Failing to give Burton and Dorn their own Star Trek series was one of the worst mistakes in TV history. Dorn in particular should have never been an alien. His natural personality is more similar to a captain.

For those wondering, the main scene showcased is from TNG S01E22: Symbiosis
Ah, Denise Crosby's last produced episode as it was actually filmed after "Skin of Evil" despite airing beforehand.

This was my favorite episode of Reading Rainbow because it was 2 of my favorite shows together
Mine too! He's the reason I got into trek. Loved having him in Picard season 3,well everyone but especially LeVar Burton
Levar is such a great host. Brings a lot of enthusiasm.
Dammit laforge how dare you break the fourth wall
That was hilarious when Michael Dorn said, stand aside! I take large steps.
That's stuck with me for 35 years and it's was a throw away joke for him
A funny thing happened on the way to the Alpha Quadrant...

The outtake bloopers of Star Trek. The next generation was my absolute number one favorite part in this episode of Reading Rainbow!

those were probably Romulans saying that about Levar ! 😊
I remembered this episode as a kid: in my mind, I was never gonna look at television the same way again after seeing this

Children of my hometown of Dallas seen the enterprise-d for a reading rainbow episode.
Ooof. I still get chills 😮
I love crossovers like this because it features the cast of Star Trek: The Next Generation
I know this episode which included a behind-the-scenes look at the TV series Star Trek: The Next Generation, in which Burton was a main cast member.

This was my favorite one and the one with cats the musical
Two amazing shows.
GRR! 2:41
I love the part when Michael Dorn just busts out of the makeup trailer so majestic then looks at the camera in a doofy way.

@@joeswanson733 OMG! Can't believe Frakes and Dorn were both my age. And I'm growing a beard like Frakes did between Seasons 1 and 2 lol
Patrick Stewart looks like he's been the same age for 75 years.
Cool 😎
Those old editing systems. Now it’s all digital. lol!
Does Mike from RLM know this episode of Reading Rainbow I mean Star Trek 🖖 ?
