Hello Nita. Working on an electric guitar body project. Doing a pour on top side which comes out perfect. I placed a fine strip of tape at the center along the side (sides) of the guitar all the way around. When side 1 was dry, I removed the tape. This left epoxy on the top half of guitar and sides up to where the tape was. Removing tape along side left a fine line separation. For the second side, I taped on top of the new epoxy leaving just a small section (about 1/8 inch) of the epoxy exposed. I then did a pour on the second side which came out perfect. It had flowed over the tape. I then removed the tape on the side, which left a small line of epoxy just a little taller than the top side pour. This meant I had to sand the side sections level with each other. This was very hard to do and I ended up sanding through to the wood in a few places. This meant I had to do a third pour to try and repair the side which now just left me with more over lapping sides. The goal is to try and get an awesome finish with epoxy instead of spraying lacquer which means a month or more of dry time. Due to the thick layer sprayed on a guitar. But a week wait for epoxy side 1, then a week for side 2, and now a week for the side, is not saving a lot of time. Was hoping to get it done in 2 weeks. Just pouring epoxy on the whole guitar at once just leaves an uneven surface and is just to hard and time consuming to level sand. So, wondering if you have any thoughts or ideas to improve the process! Thanks for your time.

Hey Girl I got my wood turned bowl coated with table top epoxy but it took 3 coats with 220 s-paper between each coat . So I'm happy with it & I'm sure my customer will be too. Thank YOU !

Wow , that is a deep pour . Do you glue the small rocks to keep them from floating ?

Can I ask , what temperature do you keep your shop at for pouring and curing? I have set up a place in my basement but struggling to keep it warm. Thank you Nita, you are so helpful😘

If it's deep pour then lower, about 66 degrees. If not about 68

Does the first colored layer need to fully cure or just get firm before you put the toplayer of deep pour epoxy of it? Do you sand between layers?

Hey Nita , how do you apply epoxy on round & vertical surface's ? I use Total Boat & I'm TRYING to get a nice clean application on the bowls I've turned but all I get is drips & run-offs.

    Hi
I use a dewalt dwe6423 sanding machine and I cannot remove the chain sanding marks on the epoxy. I think it is not possible to sand a surface for 3 hours (80-2000).
size of the piece is 16cmx9cmx3cm
What Path Should I Follow? Can you help me ?
