- One of just one hundred and seven ES-355TD Mono's made in 1961. This guitar weighs just 8.70 lbs. and has a nut width of just under 1 11/16 inches and a standard Gibson scale length of 24 3/4 inches. Laminated maple body with semi-solid construction and maple central block, one-piece mahogany neck with a medium profile, and bound ebony fretboard with 22 wide jumbo frets and inlaid pearl block position markers. Headstock with inlaid pearl "Gibson" logo and pearl five-piece split-diamond inlay. Two original PAF humbucker pickups with black surrounds and outputs of 7.47k and 8.44k. ABR-1 Tune-O-Matic non-retainer bridge with metal saddles and Gibson 'Sideways Vibrola tailpiece. All hardware gold-plated. There is no fading whatsoever to the deep red cherry color. There is one very tiny area of surface loss on the back of the guitar (3/8 of an inch x 1/8 of an inch), some very fine finish checking, a few small surface marks on the side of the body and two small surface marks / indentations on the back of the neck behind the thirteenth fret. Housed in the original Gibson black hardshell case with four latches and orange plush lining (8.75).

These videos are 10 years old now and I still love watching. Phil X is a phenomenal player, love the energy! Very inspiring, and I just picked up a “DaVinci” 413, same amp as the Tonemaster and I’m really impressed at the range of tones that come from the amp. If I could only get to play as well as Phil does though then it’d sound great! Thanks for posting all those years ago but some of us guitar nerds are still diggin it man!!

I always wanted to have Phil’s manic energy and passion in front of an audience, and people always found ways to make me regret it later.
Phil is an amazing guitar player.

that moment when Phil X gets the almost perfect tone for Randy Rhodes...whilst playing on a 355
+hondansx1000 I know some session players who consider the 335/355 to be the most versatile guitar there is. I would never have thought so, but i've heard a few tell me that so maybe there's something to it.
It really is a wondrous thing, but the 345-based Lucille is even better, thanks to its higher resistance to feedback.
Is that really proven ? Some say the f hole difference is not condiserable soundwise, especially in high gain stuff. If you know how to control your feedback it's not worth getting a Lucille, a usual semi hollow will do.
