Just bought a 2008 Corsa 1.4 design five door 59k miles for £3000. I would think I slightly overpaid but after a few weeks intensely looking and travelling long distances to view cars I had to bite the bullet. Picking it up in two days so can't give my opinion on it yet but upgrading from my written off Peugeout 207 which was only 75bhp. Although as a courtesy car I had a 1.8 diesel 67 plate Astra SRI, my God I fell in love with that car!
Astra is MUCH better than a Corsa, but you can't compare the cars, made for a different market/ place where they're supposed to drive (had a 2014 Astra 1.7 diesel. a total rocket, now a 2015 1.4 non turbo petrol Corsa, a big come down, but I don't drive a lot anymore working from home.)
I just bought my first car 3 weeks ago Vauxhall Corsa SE 1.4 2012 automatic petrol. Don't know much about cars but I like it - small, comfy, easy to park. I think is a good choice for a first car 😊
I paid only £1050 for a 2008 "58" Vauxhall Corsa Active, 109k miles with the 1.3 CDTi 75bhp. Doesn't seem that slow - definitely has some poke to it! Great little car, I only bought the thing because I didnt have a car at the time after giving back my PCP vehicle!
Just bought one Dec 2021. Done 49k on a '63 plate. Happy so far. Like the looks of car. Only a 1.2 so no poke but suits me as an 'old guy'. Cheap insurance good fuel economy. Just got rid of a disatrous Citroen C3. Nice little car problems with overheating engine.
I bought a 2011 Corsa 5 door for 3000 euros its very very nice. I don't have controls on the steering wheel, this doesn't botter me, what botters me its the absence of the fookin aux output and that's it. It have just 85k km but I already made 2k km with it. Very comfortable
How is the fuel consumption on it. I am considering buying one for my wife. She is driving a Tata Indica now, also 1.4 engine but the fuel consumption of the Tata is working on my nerves. It's high I feel for a 1.4
I am gonna go look at a 1.0l petrol this week. I love cars in general and I don't really want something slow but for now that's not my priority. I want something economical, easy and cheap to fix and reliable.
In regards to your comment about auctions, my dad bought loads of cars in the auctions. He once bought a K10 Micra for £20 about 20 years ago! Another time he bought a Rover 400 J reg for £50. These days, he's going a bit more upmarket but nonetheless, a bargain can be had in the auctions.
I would love to try an Auction TBH< but the closest One to me seems to have a pretty bad reputation for selling old dogs that fall apart after a week lol
I've got a 58plate 13.ecoflex since new. now on 108.340 miles never let me down .quite nice to drive I get around 63 mpg around town driving all I have done is brakes and back silencerand rear suspension .although my spanner light is on been told it's the glow plugs ? .when the back seats are folded down there is lots of space for luggage ect
I always use this guy's methods for these things, as they seem to work best Just use the search function on his page - good luck :) ua-cam.com/channels/KFY2Gz_8geBtPg8JmOFNmA.html
Would you still recommend one of these now? I'll be driving withing the next 3 months, and are looking at the 2008-2009 Corsa's, which appear to be best on insurance/price.
@@TheShotsboy123 hi mate I’m 17 years old and recently picked up a 1.4 2009 corsa sxi and it was 100% a great decision, also been quoted 1.6k on next years insurance which isn’t terrible
Can't say much about the MPG as I didn't have it long enough to take it on a good run, but I imagine if you drive it sensible then the MPG should be pretty good, my lastest car (1.6 Astra Petrol) is awesome on fuel!
I don't know how you can call it painfully slow. 0-60 in 11.8 secs isn't painfully slow. The 1.2 or 1.3 75hp diesel of the same year are pretty slow though. If you'd got a 2010 model, the 1.4 engine was uprated to 100bhp and 0-60 in 11.3 and at 50 mpg that's pretty good. Maybe yours is just knackered.
While reviewing the boot you said "it's a nice place to be". If you're into kidnapping lol. How about piano black vinyl wrap over that central console, ties in with door handles, may reflect less on windscreen? Funny how a 1.4 litre these days feels so underpowered, yet a 1.3 from the 70's/80's went like stink. What happened?
Yeah I often sleep in the boot, that's why I mentioned it - but seriously I think it was a slight slip in the script lol - I agree wrapping the centre console to match the doors is a nice idea BTW. and I remember smaller engines from the 80's being a lot faster than this little thing, or maybe I just used to drive them harder haha - thanks for the comments mate :)
@@ToddSocks Yes. I bought a 5 year old corsa (a 2008 model) a few years ago with 30,000 miles. When i bought it it needed a water pump, timing chain (sounded like a tractor), and a new clutch, which was odd for a car of that mileage. At 35,000 miles the head gasket went. Got that fixed and at 45,000 miles the head gasket went again, and the timing chain was noisy again, got them fixed again and at 70,000 miles the head gasket went again along with something else I forgot about (it was a control module of some sort as the car's horns became erratic and would either turn itself on or kept staying on when the battery was connected) and gave up on the car. The car broke down a 7 or 8 times in my ownership. Along the way things which were meant to last a lifetime failed on the car such as the ABS pump. The radiator also kept leaking. Ended up selling it for £150. the car must've cost me excess of £5,000 in repairs for the five years I've had it. And before you say, I do look after and service my cars every 6 months. I'd never touch a Vauxhall again. I drive an older Mazda with more miles than the Corsa which I've had for the past few years and never missed a beat or broken down. I'll be sticking to Japanese cars from now on.
Highran56 damn sounds like yours rolled out on a Friday. Mines a 2010 and I’ve only ever needed to replace the brake pads and tires. It’s got about 140,000 miles so not bad for the mileage. Yeah a Mazda is always gonna be less of a risk than Vauxhall. I’m glad you’re happier with your new car, shame bout the 5k but hey ho.
@@ToddSocks with used cars its just luck sometimes. It was quite blatant that the previous owner didn't look after the car but I couldn't test it as I bought it from the auction.
I might be a little small and inderpowered for delivery work? It depends what you are delivering, bear in mind the added weight! I think you may be better getting a 1.6 Diesel?
Yeah that's my guess, it does look as though it was pushed in a bit, but no evidence of it under the car at all? not blowing, and not bent outta shape, so I still have no clue lol
Servicing matters as much in my opinion, if it's been driven like a F1 car for the last 10 Years and nobody has changed the oil, then that's a problem, even if it's only done 50.000 Miles, but a car that's been well serviced and looked after, which has done 100.000 Miles can often be the better option. Remember though that after 80.000 Miles you need to consider things such as clutch and cam chain replacement, ,plus suspension components, not always, but worth considering with higher Mileage cars.
Pound Beats it doesn’t no. You have to buy a stereo off amazon for about £20 and a kit off ebay to change it. Pretty simple tbh if you UA-cam it. Hope this helps!:)
