I am going to try and grow these again. I tried in the past and they did not grow, but you are inspiring me to try again. I love your winter sowing videos.
Now I'm so excited because I just got a pack of the Parisian Carrots seeds from Baker Creek for free! I can't wait to jug sow and ws them! This is an awesome video Sheryl! Thanks and happy gardening! 🌱 🥕
I’ve been using an Aero Garden because I can’t seem to direct sow any seeds for beans. But I just transplanted a starter plant from the aero garden today. Transplanted three plants, a single carrot, a pickling cuke, and a Mammoth Russian Sunflower. The carrot transplanted ok so far, hoping the roots take on the other two plants. 🤞 Enjoyed seeing the Parisian carrots. I can imagine a larger carrot like you explained at the end of the video that would grow deeper even if taste wasn’t as good would tend to be the way most farmers would go as they can get more total food weight/volume. Super neat to see, and I’d definitely try them once if I saw the seeds at a store.
Hi Sheryl! Please do a video explaining all of the benefits to jug sowing in a warm climate. That would be so interesting! In some of your other videos, you’ve mentioned a few reasons why you use the jugs in Southern California. I’d love to see a video specifically about the benefits to jug sowing in a warm climate versus direct sowing. Thank you so much! I’m learning a lot from your videos! 😊
Nice carrot harvest. I winter sowed rainbow carrots, cosmic purple and purple dragon carrots. The transplant went well and they are growing beautifully. You inspired me so much. I transplanted them in clumps. I will do a carrot harvest video and share it in your winter sowing group in Facebook. Happy Gardening! 🌱 🥕
You are so enthusiastic! I love to listen to you exclaiming gleefully and enthusiastically as you harvest. I have never had any luck with carrots which I have tried direct sowing. This year might be my lucky year.
They would also be really good to stick in corners, between plants, anywhere there's a space! Thanks for the tip on purple carrots. Do you think they actually taste better or you just like the color? I have not grown them yet. :) Sheryl
Hello I found a video that was 2yrs ago on your tour and omg your orange lemon line trees are amazing! I have to ask you now that it's been 2yrs from that video are your trees doing the same in production now that are climate has changed?
Actually some are not I think because we didn't fertilize enough the first 2 years. Turns out they are heavy 2-3 x a year feeders. It's so different than Ohio where it's fertile and wet all the time. We had 8 months with no rain each yr now. So last month I fertilized the heck out of the trees and hope to see a bump next year. We are still totally getting good fruit, just not as much as year one. We think they heavily overfertilzed to sell the house. It worked!
I hope this year brings happiness and prosperity and love💕 to all american and to the worldwide🌍. I'm harry Thompson by name. where are you from if I may ask. hope you don't mind..??
I got the Parisian market carrots and I’ve started them in small pots. At what stage do I transplant them? I want a BIG harvest like you have! Thank you!
How deep of a container do you think would work well to grow these Parisian carrots? I plan to grow some this year but only have containers for my balcony. Super excited to start planting seeds soon!
@@JuicingGardener Oh, that's PERFECT! I have a window box that's 12" wide and 8" deep on each side and approx 6" deep in the middle. I should be able to plant 3 rows for these little marvels. Thanks so much! :))))

well, since we are coming in to 100-120 F degree heat for a few months, my choices are limited. I think I will do zucchini in them. I"ve done it before. Also I could add some basil. it's doing well in the heat. Any shallow growing heat lover will do. Oh and I could do beets in them too. We can grow them almost all year here in SoCal zone 9b :)

I appreciate that Sharon. I hope you enjoy nibbling on them. Most of mine never made it to the house :)
Thanks for the reminder. I do sow these carrots, but it has been a while. I will be sowing them this spring.

I watched this video last year, I finally have some parisian carrots of my own! So excited to try!!
That's great. I nibbled them right from the garden all season!

Good to see that they grow in containers 🥕🥕🥕👍
Very impressive!! I've never seen a Parisian carrot, but they look delicious. Great to see you Sheryl.

I love doing carrots😊 all colors. I do a big bed and my grand babies love pulling them
Thanks for letting us know carrots can be winter sown and transplanted!! Good stuff!
Thank you so much 🌱
Awesome harvest!!
All my black nebula every single one that sprouted went to seed, NorCal, direct sow in February
😱 nice
Gorgeous harvest!

The key with WS carrots is transplanting then with the big hunk of soil around the roots intact so they don't even know they've moved! Good luck :)
Oh that is so cute ...I. Going to try those
yeah, i have figured out that my limited garden space is best used for salad leaves, tomatoes, cucumbers & peppers.
I have a tray of those growing. Mine are a couple of weeks from harvest but now I'm excited to try them
Never tried these, should get some seeds, my favorites are purple carrots

I hope I catch your update video if it does go to seed ♡♡♡
I already harvested them all. but I will do other vids on letting carrots go to seed. I have a bunch in my earth bed growing now!

Hi I grew them in an 8 inch grow tub with 7 inches of soil. I think you could go down to no less than 5 inches of soil but that's a guess. Good luck!!

Please tell me with this small variety will they grow in 4 to 5 inches of soil? Thank you
Yes I believe they will. The roots didn't go that deep. Good luck!
They are so cute! That bigger one is almost turnip shaped. How fun! How long did they take to grow?
Also interesting that they don't always show their shoulders when mature.
I want to say 70 days til maturity when I started eating them but I left them in a lot longer so I could keep munching!

Is it necessary to thin carrots? I have carrots growing currently in a 5 gallon container.
It depends on how thickly you sowed your carrot seeds. They need room to grow so most likely yes, you'll need to thin.
I’m curious ...what are you going to grow in tray

Do you eat carrot tops also?
I personally don't eat them but I know many that do. :)
I've heard that you can xhop up and put in soup stock.
