    This is amazing, can't wait to try this. My 4 dogs and I love carrots, I have the perfect spot to build this , bug free, no weeding and the dogs won't be able to dig them up. Thank you

    It’s a super method, look how long and straight they are, no forking or club roots. I love your channel ❤

    Cold weather growing is great! My carrots over-winter better than spring carrots. I moved to cooler climate and hope to have better results. Love this method! Nice share!

    You can also do a vertical garden and I watched a very easy video on how to do it, but I love this video. I stopped throwing away my bottles to do this.

    Great idea….it seems warm weather stunts the bottom half; I love carrots for fermenting veggies…. non-organic store bought carrots are apparently soaked in chlorinated water, these are so healthy and non-contaminated looking ! ; )

    I'm not sure about needing to cut the bottles open once it's time to harvest them since you probably can't use them more than once, and it doesn't seem like the carrots are able to grow as much as they potentially would. Maybe it would work better by making it a proper tube, if that's even necessary and you can't just use something like a piece of a pool noodle to hold the plant in place.

    Open question and opinions from anyone does anyone think those long cardboard waxed lined wine bottles the juice boxes will work for this method? Since the bottles are basically food grade, I wouldn’t be concerned about them contaminating the carrots and they should hold up to the liquids of the hydroponics , even with the holes put through them.

    That's a cool experiment. It seems like you could get more out of a planter of the same size though, like twice s much. Maybe a flood drain setup would be better? or a bottom wicking container filled with the substrate?

      I am going to do this in a 7"deep under a bed container I have, use cheap foam poster board instead of cutting the lid. The bottles will still be in nutes, just the bottles sticking out more. I would love to use many of the bottles we use from spring water.

    • @lunarminx
      @lunarminx 3 місяці тому +1

      @@Wisdomseeker_777 I would not as coco coir and perlite is a hydroponic medium. Peat would be too soggy from sitting in the nutes.

    Good method but better to use different materials. Micro and Nano Plastics in your food is not a good result.

      Of course you’re right but there may come a day when it’s the difference between starving and filling your belly. There are no fussy eaters in war zones or food deserts . ❤️

    • @rmm9676
      @rmm9676 6 місяців тому

      @@Katya-zj7ni Of course you are right. But nothing in the video set this in a survival context. The harm of Nano Plastics is likely similar to Lead being added into auto gas. Only decades from now will the science catch up and the truth come out.

      I left mine out all Winter and just pulled them when I needed them, too dressing with mulch helps keep them a bit warmer. My grandfather didn’t lift his turnips or carrots until they got a first frost. Makes them sweeter

    Micro plastics enter the soil and food .growing in plastic?

    • @talyn3932
      @talyn3932 6 місяців тому +2

      That is why you always use food grade plastics for hydroponics. It's another reason to protect your containers from UV light.

      I use a lot of hydrogen peroxide and use those for prepped water as they are safe, I do reuse all glass also, I got off point, those brown bottles are fully safe and dark already. I know if the top is cut off farther down, a 3 inch net cup fits, little higher for 2 inch net cup fits. They'd also be perfect for carrots.
      I grow kratky leafy greens for my bearded dragons.

    It seems to me that your bottles don't give the carrots enough space to grow on the first harvest.
    If you use any type of media to grow vegetables, then it is not Hydroponics or Kratky!
    It is a good way to do it, but hydroponics and krakty use only water!
