As someone who is roughly a Protestant, I would agree with both premises and the conclusion, but I don't know where Christ's sacrifice fits into the process if our sins are punished and cleansed in order for us to get to heaven...?
Wouldn’t the Protestants generally say that we are purified by Christ’s blood on the cross.... that his suffering purifies us.... so no need for Purgatory.
Yes but people still sin. Jesus did pay the price for your sins on the cross. The souls in Purgatory are already saved, but they need to be purified even further. So there is a need for purgatory. Thank you so much for these videos! I really appreciate them.

What is the consequence of accepting or rejecting this doctrine?

The Blood of Christ cleanses us from Eternal damnation.
But there are still temporary consequences.
If purgatory is instantaneous wouldn't that mean there's no reason to pray for the dead?
There is no time in eternity/ afterlife.
Prayers for the dead can affect the intencity of purgatory which is outside of time.
God exists outside of time, as he created it.
I pray that the pope cancels this idea of purgatory as i believe it will allow more people to wade on the edges of Christianity and go to hell!
