I love gear where you can assign LFOs to the decay or sample start/end points. Instant movement and groove. I've been doing this very thing with my Elektron Machinedrum, which has a bunch of assignable LFOs (per drum!).
Using syntakt or rytm with alternating open/closed hats )made with noise + a ring modded square or sine) and manually “motion sequencing p locks like on the attack and decay of the amp and filter make it really move and breathe
Nice to see that you got a Nord Drum now. For me, it's way more accessible and direct than the Erica LXR2 and it sounds a lot better than a Roland TR9. I was missing volume faders (that's why I tried the LXR2 and was considering a Roland TR-8S) but I am using a AtoVproject 16N fader now with a MIDI Solutions Event Processor plus for that. To volume control each of the 6 pads or just drop the kick when sequencing it, I assigned CC 71-76 to the faders as they're unused in the Nord Drum and then have the Event Processor translate CC71 to CC70 with value 0-22 to select pad 1 and then at the same time do a volume change CC7 with the original fader value from CC71. Don't know if you can do complex rules like that with Ableton, I'm dawless. But these volume faders now make the Nord Drum even more awesome 😍 For better access of the most common Nord Drum settings, I am using a Faderfox EC4 to either control stuff like click, noise, tone or effects or to change the preset with Bank Select and Program Change from my desk a few meters away.
Your content is great! Thank you for also using hardware examples! (I've never touched a DAW😬 and don't have any interest. It feels like I'm doing my taxes or something, not making art) but I LOVE my hardware gear.
Right there at 3:52 how did you bring your clip into the timeline from the Session View without recoding it in? I'm still fairly new to Ableton. Thanks for all the helpful videos.
You can drag & drop or copy & paste clips from the session view into the arrangement view. It might take some practise to get used to it - make sure you are dragging the clip to its corresponding channel in the session view to its right channel in the arrangement view, or else you'll get unexpected results. Just practice it'll get easier! 😊
@@kristianTV1974 Just wanted to say thank you. This helps so much with my workflow. I don't know why I didn't even think of copy/pasting to see if it works. I just assumed we had to record it in. 😀
5:23 When you record the 16 bars, the recording wraps around to the beginning. Is it better to let it continue over the edge and then cut out 16 bars or is there a special way to keep the first "round" and skip the overwriting at the beginning? Or did it just not matter for this kind of sound?

I'm a simple man. I see a new techno video from Underdog. I quickly play it, comment, and like it.
Yup, and there are far to many simpletones arround.
❤ I love how you‘re always dancing/vibing along. Great videos, always! Thanks
Great video. Would love to see Oscar put up a dancing course.

Bitwig really is great for that kind of thing.
I do this too. You can hear Bonobo doing it all the time in this music. Makes such a difference
Subliminal modulation is the key to any hypnotic tune.
You know what ... I've used my grain samples to make hats, also, much fun!

Brilliant! Thank you Oscar
Electribes' Motion Sequencing is wonderful for this kind of thing.
That pulsar23 sounded nice

Nice seeing you use dawless gear 👍
love you! thanks for the samples
Thanks, Oscar!
Omg! U just gave me an idea to use a pegboard for a gear. 🤯
Thx bro
Kdoe dit ook al jaren maar blijf nieuwe maken bij elke track
This is excellent, should cure my boring hat problem
Nice tips, thanks Oscar!
Awesome thank you!! Appreciate the out-of-the-box examples.
Thanks a lot for the inspiration! 🤟
Damn, it's like you read my mind! I was looking for something along these lines... and you just made a video! 🤯 Dank U well!

we came to a point where brosito is making more inspiring waves than most of the contemporary techno circus
7:05 had me doing the same reaction 😂 super nice
❤
My man
Legend!
Awesome plug-in suggestion? Check. Mind-opening compositional techniques? Check. Super helpful workflow tips? Check. Another incredible video Oscar. Thank you!
I normally do this by opening and closing the hats and adding reverb and delay when needed...
I have been working on getting my hi hats better so I really appreciate this upload ❤
Have watched the other upload that he has done on writing better hihats? If not you need to because it's a great lesson.
How about dealing with latency when recording external gear in?
🙏🏻🙏🏻
Is the kick from Drumazon?
How dare you ignore that Analog Rytm, the DADDEEEE!
Were those the standard ableton grooves
Dan eens de Perkons gebruiken 😍

It doesnt actually overwrite it, you can just re-extend the clip to nearly be the 16bars :) the ‘overwriting’ thing is non-destructive 👌
@@OscarUnderdog Ah, ok. As a beginner, I thought, it'd overwrite and so I always started before what I wanted to record and ended after it. Thanks!
Could you tell me what your midi controller with the sliders is at 02:40 ? I’m looking for something similar but not sure what search terms to use
Thats a faderfox!
Faderfox UC4 - PS: ChatGPT is scary/awesome because I have no clue of Midi Controllers and just did an image search with it based on a screenshot :O
aaaand replied at the same time as the man himself. props Oscar :)
Thank you both!
Fanks Oscar 🌺
he is cute
I think this guy is secretly SNTS who else believes this?
NOONE!
