Today, the CRRNJ/Communipaw Terminal (closed since the opening of the Aldene Connection in 1967) is now a incorporate part of Liberty State Park in Jersey City.

The bridge shown at the beginning and later showing the mid-section being raised and lowered is in Bayonne and is called the Newark Bay Bridge. The video doesn't show the brick wall counter weights on the trestle that were used as to help raise and lower the bridge to accommodate river traffic. In 1958 a New York bound passenger train plunged into the bay while the span was in the up position. The counterweights weren’t in the down position yet. Forty-eight people lost their lives, including the uncle of a school classmate. I remember the incident because we had just moved into the house we still live in and it was a short walk from there to the site.
Our family took that train often to go to New York, down the shore or to visit relatives. We had no car. My parents never learned to drive. Sadly, the Central Line over the Newark Bay Bridge was eventually curtailed into a shuttle from Bayonne to Cranford. In 1978, service stopped altogether and few years later the bridge was removed because Port Newark was expanding and bridge would be a navigational hazard. I love train travel and miss that train. Such memories.

@Justin Roig In 2015, a very kind CN engineer let me up into the cab. I didn't even ask to do it either, I was literally just looking around. It was a 2500 series Dash 9. Albeit we weren't moving at the time. I talked to him until the other crew members came back after they had coupled the air hoses.

In actual naval parlance the phrase "The good ship ..." means that said ship has been wrecked or sunk. I don't know the current status of the shown ship.

This was released today. There is not a lot on the NY&LB, roughly 3 - 5 minutes at Woodbridge Junction, Matawan and Point Pleasant.
