Very attractive rugby from both sides. Great start for the Aussies!
its not the oldest derby in world rugby, Edinburgh v Glasgow play for the 1872 cup because that was when the first derby was played. 10 years before Queensland v NSW
Well if you want to get into it, Nelson vs Wellington in NZ predates that by 2 years, in 1870. So.....
Shouldn't a derby be between teams from the same city?
that’s not a derby because glasgow & edinburgh are two different cities
@@meeshnozigqwaba8972 arent the reds from brisbane and the waratahs from sydney?
@@McDJNomi yeah i figured queensland & new south wales are different provinces/states too so all of this sounds wrong
That tackle was simultaneous - harsh call on the yellow card
I still hope to see one day a full house stadium on a rugby union match in Australia
Oof! That call on the penalty try, I guess that is the correct call, but from the tacklers point of view how was he supposed to know that he hadn't quite collected the ball? He was tackling from behind and the ball was for all intents and purposes gathered when he made the decision to tackle.
I have no horse in this race, I'm not from Aus or NZ or the Pacific, but the margin between try saving tackle and penalty try there was a big interpretation call. Schrödinger's tackle.
It’s technically just how it goes. If they didn’t have replay that call wouldn’t have been made. There is a lot of controversial calls that happen now strictly because of the reviews.
If you're in a position where you can't see if they have possession or not then you've just gotta gamble or give up a try. There's no reason it should be fair if you're already beaten to the ball. Even watching it live it looked early to me
Penalty try is fair enough but a yellow to go with it is ridiculous
Ignoring the typical comments on how dead the crowd was and that aus rugby is going backwards, this was honestly some entertaining footy to watch!
Yet your the one who said Aus rugby is dead on another video. How can you be such a hypocrite 🤡
They switched the stadium from football field to rugby in a day whoa 😳
Reds look clinical, but time will tell how good they actually are when they meet kiwi teams.
Love the way the Reds are playing this season.....
It’s been 1 game.
@Fred93Eng what do you think now.
#Redsss
@@deubaboy3357 that you’re very sad 😂👍🏼
@Fred93Eng haahhahahha actually I'm fuckn happyyyy
@@deubaboy3357 good. Likewise
Genuinely didn't even know the Rugby was back on. Marketing pigeon is back at it again
More empty seats than fans. They should look to reduce ticket prices to entice more people to come to the games.
No. They should look to make Aus teams more competitive so people GAF
@MarcOConnor-nv6lx yeah right. More people rather watch tv at home or going pub, nowday TV quality are so much better than seat in stadium
I thought Nawaqanitawase was going to the NRL. Did that not work out or did he change his mind? (UK resident here!)
after this season
@@muzwell thank you!
A few very good tries here
I can see why this maybe Coleman's last season in charge of the Waratahs, and it's only round 1.
But yeah RA still isn't recognizing the elephant in the room as to why crowd attendance is average besides the clubs just needing to beat the kiwi teams and being competitive.
Grassroots, affordable prices on food/drink, tickets, merchandise, games in smaller stadiums for bigger crowds in the heartlands, and above all better marketing and advertising just doesn't seem to ring a bell for the NSW old boys in charge of RA.
Could at least try to get involved with the Japanese L1 comp to mirror the Champions Cup, especially with the Jaguares returning in 2026 and get Kanaloa Hawaii reconsidered too to crack into the US market that they're trying to do.
Didn't realise that marky mark was still available for the Tahs 😅
wasn’t he joining nrl?
@@starwarsjk99 that's what I thought too.
has one more season with the tahs
It feels like state of origin in super rugby 😂😂
Attendace looking sad in Australia. Not looking forward for the future
better than it was until the 90s
14.5k crowd isn't terrible for a union game in aus nowadays. This game had the second best attendance of the round. It only really looked dire because they played at suncorp, if it was at ballymore then a completely different picture would've been painted
Petaia is the Stockdale of Australia
This is the lightweight league.
Why no crowds? It’s Queensland v NSW. 😮
yea I was expecting to see atleast a third full Suncorp
@karloshamiton Dude its rugby union not league
@@alexrobinson2103 that’s a shame. Rugby in Australia needs a boost. I know league is massive, but a world without Australia as a rugby powerhouse isn’t great.
GO reds!!
Wow, rugby union state of origin
mmm good game, shame the wallabies will be like 90% tahs again...
Nawaqanitawhate?
still waiting to be snapped up..
If you are upright in the rolling maul you are useless, no matter how many times you flap your arms.
Excuse my ignorance, how is the yellow card against Waratahs even a yellow card, when red had control of the ball and knocked it on in the in goal area? Shouldnt it be a 22m drop to Waratahs?
In slo-mo Blue 15 makes contact a split second before Red 15 touches the ball, so ref called it early tackle (penalty) and since no one else was around it was YC+penalty try. Harsh call.
A Derby is played by two local teams... these are NOT local
Folau curse continues
That penalty try is a joke
More spectators at a high school game in South Africa vs what I saw in the stands in this game. What does a ticket cost for a super rugby game in Aus?
not that much its just no one cares lol. even at its peak it really wasnt as largr in australia as people like to remember, kinda laughable that people think this is new
Pfft you seen a currie cup game lately. Or half of the URC home games. Aussies don't like being shit at things. They've been terrible in super rugby and the bledisloe for over 20yrs, that to me looked like one of their biggest crowds for a while actually. If they start winning, watch the crowds come back. It wasn't too long ago that stadium was packed every weekend when the reds won in 2012 ish.
Rugbys also dying in NZ aswell, even though media and people will lead you to belive the opposite. People just don't care anymore.
@@andr3wr89 that's the result of a shite super rugby. No competition dilutes interest. You think rugby is dying, you should see rugby league numbers declining. It's the opposite of what you say, media are doing everything they can to prop up the warriors and bring union down. Did you see the last Kiwis crowd in NZ... No one. The warriors current saga is a bandwagon thing. Outside of them there is no interest in rugby league. There isn't even a domestic comp anymore.
NRL is a better product
And kiwis love it and want more
Now the NRL is venturing the U S and i know they will love it, this is a worrying sign of things to come for rugby
If it is a success
The NRL truly engages and connects with it audiences and fanbase
On all media platforms
They doing a better job than union in promoting the brand.
Large majority of NZers don't wanna watch URC/english premiership/ 6nations many kiwis aren't drawn to N.H. rugby
NZ have always had a love for league, and ever since the warriors season last year
It's no surprise a pre season game in Christchurch sold out
Warriors second pre season game at Mt smart yesterday was Amazing the atmosphere incredible
It's simple and easy to pick up, you get it, you understand it,
easy to watch free flowing and fast
No bullshit.
This dupont law has just added to the many problems and issues we are seeing in rugby
its terrible for the game many don't want to see it
It's unattractive absolute turnoff
Rugby has become a joke with all these laws and interpretations
It's made it unbearable to watch
Rugby is killing itself
S R is trying to maintain and promote running footy by stopping this kick tennis farce
trying to keep the flow of the game moving
So they've done something right
Rubbish refrees as always😂😂
Crowds just aren’t there, people in Aus aren’t interested. If the Lions don’t create some momentum I can see the RWC being pulled and sent back to Japan where there is a growing love of the game. It may sound harsh, but persist when not enough people care (to make it viable).
Shocking penalty-try by the way…
