- Super Rugby Pacific 2024 | Rebels v Brumbies | Round 1 Highlights
Despite plenty of excitement around some of the Melbourne Rebels’ off-season recruits, it was the ACT Brumbies who made a hot start to 2024 at AAMI Park.

“He virtually wasn’t untouched.”
Terrific sentence construction from someone who is employed to commentate.
The kick and the pace of the number 8 WOW!!
Big crowd to kick off the season
Where.?
@@davelucas7337 they were wearing green
Dress like a seat night boys
😂😢 Be saying goodbye to the Rebels at the end of the season at this rate
At this rate they may have to invite back the Japanese teams.
What a shame the stadium wasn't even half full. Rugby union is not in a good place in Aus.
Now the Brumbies is what I would expect to see the Australian side do more of, what they are bloody good at, grubber kicks through and that mongrel about them. I am expecting Australia to rise under the Management of JS.
Watching these highlights right after Chiefs-Crusaders is a shocking drop off. Australian rugby is not in a great place.
Sell out at AAMI park 😂. Seriously, though, it's going to be a long, hard season for the Rebels
Australian Rugby has become a lack lustre showdown
English rose isn’t always delivering these days either though let’s be fair
@@morris9337they don’t play the best looking rugby, but certainly better then aus. England did almost beat the boks to make it to another final, got third in the rwc
@@funkmastaflash1yes by beating a boks team not playing at 100% and having the easiest pool and the easiest quarter final. Both their six nations games they were also worst then their opponents. England fans rlly need to take their heads out of the air and look at themselves, they're not top quality anymore, but it's like they're pretending they are. At least Aus are doing smth.
@@funkmastaflash1exactly, Best Springboks team couldnt do damage on the English team
@@funkmastaflash1 lad they had a cake walk to the semis. Played a fantastic game against SA, but Australia beat the boks under rennie not too long ago as well!
Im sure Australian rugby union can be saved. But its going to take a revolution
The crowd booing the decision for holding back is so funny. Like it was the most obvious penalty
Less goo that's my team brumbies will take it 💪🏾😎
Will take what? An early holiday towards the end of the season?
Attendance record by The Rebels
Australian rugby
The unrelenting pursuit of mediocrity
Brumbies and Reds to fly the AU flag this season even though the former was always the benchmark, and the Rebels are screwed yet again with the same chronic issue of star players and no firepower at all. Very grim indeed for a team that will be liquidated after this season sorely needing a benefactor like the Force.
Rebels given up before the games even started.
Only nice thing about this game is that pink boots😆
Crowd is bigger for a third division in France LOL
Not funny watching our game die though is it
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂❤
@@morris9337 No, it's not funny. I started playing in the early 2000s and you were a reference (larkham, eales, horan..). Now beating Protugal or Georgia with the bonus is already complicated. From other sea we don't understand this loss of levels....
what this highlights to me is.... only the English and French have a sustainable league structure. (and england lost how many teams recently ??) ..and no i dont include the Irish... 4 teams dont make a league.. . from a Welsh supporter....
What hurts is that Japan and the USA are STILL not viable leagues long term for what is needed. Honestly, world rugby has a HUGE club rugby problem. Too few NPCs work, too few can make money. Australia not having a viable NPC is the biggest one, in my opinion.
Going to be a very long season for the Rebels
Business as usual.
Why are there no fans, i thought covid restrictions ended a few years back
the state of Australian Rugby at the moment. No interest from the public. Niche sport at best
Why is Corey Toole no longer getting selected by the AU 7s team? If I'm not mistaken wasn't he was one of their star players?
He’s chosen to play the 15 man game. They don’t play both.
@@jamescaldwell7396 yeah but why did he? Wasn’t he 7s player of the year not to mention a phenomenal try scorer?
@@lightningpower927 Make more money playing 15s. Also less travelling, less fitness work etc
@@lightningpower927Why is this such a shock to you? Most 7s player would rather try and play for the countries in 15s. He clearly thinks there’s a chance he can be a wallabie.
'Toole just virtually wasn't untouched" ok
The biggest capitulation was the rebels 7 intentional knock on with a penalty advantage. That simply is not the aussie rugby i grew up with. Pick and go, throw a wild pass, crossfield kick, something, especially down by 17? Youre riaking nothing?
Cut the Rebels and Force, and have the three remaining, improved teams play home and away to generate local interest and so that they still play four games against ausy teams.
this will not work
Where's the hype? Rugby in Aussie looks as good as dead
The old superrugby of 1996 to 2014 will never return. that was golden years. Rugby has changed so much. the level of competitiveness in this past season 2023 is poor. every year it's the same teams performing only a few. rugby in a poor state
😆 🤣 😂 go Rebels, will be interesting if they'll be in the competition next year, if it was a top kiwi team playing them tonight it would have been a 70 point margin!
They need someone like that billionaire sponsor from the Force to keep them afloat 😂
Rebel needed to be relocated to another city. the stadium was at 15%
Rebels looked woeful
Wow super rugby might as well drop the Aussie teams no disrespect but no excitement..miss the physicality as well in super rugby
I bet you're a kiwi. Not every Aussie team is doomed.
Highlanders have their run of losses too
Wrong team names 😭
Melbourne Rebels jeez, fullback doesn't pass when moves are on wingers not running onto the ball and to top it off forwards that believe they can get away with dumb stuff when there are multiple camera's recording the entire game as well as the crowd phones! The early season Rubble mania, come on fellas sharpen up!
Why r these Aussie teams playing like the Panthers n Broncos. Bumbles n Bak doors lol❤❤❤
Just seems like these people don’t even enjoy playing rugby.
Gosh, the Rebels look like that they don't want to be there. Very sad.
You feel they could have let people sit in the two main stands given the lack of crowd at least instead of sending them high into the end stands. Sport looks like its dying in Australia and even those that support it get a crap experience.
Wow. Rebels' defence is astonishingly bad.
Rebels need to fold. Distribute the players amongst the other teams. If they get beaten by the Force at Home this weekend, just cut your losses and withdraw. Teams will welcome to bye week
Really, Portugal x Belgica on the last week was better than this. Aussie Rugby union arghhhhh
Am I the only one who actually thought the Brumbies played quite well? The Rebels will be gone next year anyway….
Brumbies will win the league
Stop wasting time, and get the Rebels into liquidation.
Corry toole the fastest in super rugby.
Brum,s and red,s to beat all mate,s.kiwi rugby is rapid demise.😂😂😂😂😂
This aged well aye kiwi rugby hater boy.
The commentary is soooo bad and they have no energy or excitement
can you blame them?
@@majorowe Yes, that first try should've been way better commentated
Look at those crowds 😂😂 Australian Rugby Union is a joke and that’s coming from someone who played for Australian Schoolboys
tackling not big in Aus..pathetic
We need to bin the Force and Rebels from the competition and consolidate what's left of the ARU talent pool split among the Tahs Reds and Brumbies. This would help ARU by improving the quality of our sides and would in turn increase peoples interest in the sport. When Australia had 3 teams there were very competitive with NZ teams. I think we need to bring in 3 SA teams back into the comp and bin the Moana Pacifica and 5 Aus team experiment to save this competition and make it more competitive to play for an Australian side.
Seriously, Oz rugby is terrible. after watched crusaders game..How wallabies can back with those qualities team
Aussie rugby would benefit more without the Rebels!
Australian rugby is absolutely pathetic. Get ready to get knocked out of your own World Cup in the group stage
So many commenting about crowds. I didn’t realise crowd watching was a new sport. Possibly reason so many don’t understand rules.
Here’s an idea….dont watch if you don’t like it
Australian rugby union is dead!
Aussie rugby in the bin, no wonder the fan base is so damn small. Must be so far down the pecking order in terms of popularity compared to aussie rules and thugby league
A Stadium way to big for this low number of spectators makes a very trist atmosphere. 4.000 quiet people in a 30.000 bowl are ridiculous. 🥲
The tries to make Super Rugby popular in Melbourne are failed and a so called SuperRound year by year won't change anything.
A Hometeam usually just fights to avoid a wooden spoon......year by year.
I really do not see any (positive) development of the Rebels.
Really, kick them out and bring back the Sunwolves. They at least have enthusiastic fans. 🐺
Way better for the competition.
Really, those last few remaining fans must be some kind of masochists.
Even better than the Sunwolves, a "Champions Cup" style comp with League One if RA is keen on it with JRFU since they're desperate to fix rugby down under despite new people in charge.
