  • THESE RIBS WERE AWESOME!!!!!
I'd like to give a huge thank you to Noah and Amber over at Pit Barrel Cooker Co. for allowing our Channel the opportunity to evaluate this product and bring it to our viewers! Thanks so much! After using the cooker, I am sold on it being very worthy of consumer attention. It was easy to use and produced some AWESOME food for us three times now! I will list our Pit Barrel Cooker Co. amzn.to/2nTgLQ8
    Ingredients Used in this Recipe:
    - I used 2 slabs of Pork Back Ribs
    - Your favorite Rubs/Sauces. I used Franks Red Hot Seasoning on one and Pit Barrel Cooker All Purpose Seasoning on the other. I also used Heinz Bold and Spicy on one rack, no sauce on the other.
    Directions:
    - WASH YOUR HANDS!
    - Unpackage, rinse and pat dry Ribs
    - Remove hanging fat and membrane from back area
    - Apply Rub
    - Preheat your coals then get them into the cooker. If you're using a Pit Barrel Cooker, fill the coal basket so that it's full even to the top. Then, remove around 30 coals and place those into a warmer. Heat those 30 coals until hot. Place the basket with unlit coals into the bottom of the cooker then dump the lit coals evenly on top. You may now add wood if you like. Place the hanger bars in place, hang the Ribs and close the lid! Total cook time should be between 3.5-5 hours depending on temps. You may add sauce for the last 15-30 minutes if you like.
    - ENJOY!!!!!

Thanks, Silvio! I definitely will be doing that and more. The coals appear to hold for roughly 6-8 hours at cooking temps. I’m sure there’s ways to tweak things which PBC doesn’t encourage. They like to keep the cook process simple lol. Blessings and cheers to you 🍻.

Woow Mike, that ribs looked Super. That barrelcooker seems like it did a hell of a job. But i think i missed some of the cookingtemp? What did u say?? 270 a 300 Fahrenheit? Greetings from The Dutch Peter

    • @EverydayBBQ
      @EverydayBBQ  6 років тому

Thanks for watching and commenting, Peter! The Pit Barrel Cooker has a very simple system for cooking. You simply set the bottom vent according to your elevation and the cooker handles the rest as long as you follow the rest of the instructions for coal lighting. If everything is done correctly it will run between 275 to 325°F for roughly 6 to 8 hours sometimes even more.

Actually my comment got screwed up. Should have said seasonings not sauce. I was talking about the beginning. Sorry about that was not criticizing the cook. Sorry spell check got me I guess. The cook was great

Ok so I'm not gonna ask about the ribs (although they looked great!) I am gonna ask all about the cooker. You only cooked to racks of ribs did you have to use a whole pan of charcoal and was that the whole bag? Does it have to be Kingsford briquettes? I use lump charcoal not briquettes and wanted to know if that may damage the cooker. How long did it hold the heat? I didn't see a thermometer so I would like to know what kind of heat it produces. Did that pan last you till next day? How did the rub taste? And do they sell more on the site? (I guess I could look but I wanted another question on this insane long post) And lastly, can you cook a pizza on it? (that is gonna be a hard one to answer since it looks like it is made solely for smoking and not baking) Great video and I look forward to seeing the nest one. (I can't promise I won't make another insane long post on the next post but, I will try)

Lol, Lurl! No problem! I will try to answer all of your questions here. First off? You can cook up to eight racks of ribs at one time and I’ve even heard of some guys doing 10. Pit barrel cooker company recommends Kingsford blue charcoal and so that’s what I have been using. You can use lump coal if you choose just keep in mind that lump coal will burn hotter. The charcoal basket is designed to be filled every time you use it in order to achieve and maintain temperatures. Typically, this cooker will run between 275 and 325° but there are variables to this so many in fact that I cannot list them all here. Mostly, it’s that people do not follow the instructions and therefore are on able to maintain that temperature range. As far as Pizza goes, my experience has been that Pizza likes to be cooked at high temperatures. Therefore, although I have not tried it yet, I would think there are probably better ways to do pizza. Both rubs that I used were absolutely outstanding and the pit barrel cooker all purpose rub can be purchased on their website. I hope I covered everything thanks for watching and commenting!

Brother, let me say answering goofballs like me is a full time position! THANK YOU! I knew those temps were too low for pizza. (Pizza needs to cook at 500+ degrees to get that crust going) I've said it before I'll say it again, You keep making videos and I'll keep watching! That is a promise you can take to the bank!

I have cooked a lot of ribs in my barrel and I never use a full basket of charcoal your just wasting it they cooked same temperature full of charcoal as they did with half a basket

I’ve been experimenting with this and there’s definitely some truth to it. Haven’t found the exact right amount just yet.
