I tore some part of my shoulder in martial arts years ago (actually heard a rip) and developed a motor issue much later. I hope these stretches can help and I really liked how you explained everything, thank you 🙏
I often wake up in the middle of the night with numbness in my right hand... almost like pins & needles... probably how I sleep with an arm tucked under me or something, but I will try these and see if they make a difference. Thanks!
I've had brachial plexus injury since birth but my case is not severe. My right arm can not extend fully (it's never straight) and motion is a bit restricted. I'll be trying these exercises to improve motion but are there any exercises to straighten my arm? (FYI: instead of a 180 degree my arm can reach max about 150ish and it looks odd when i'm standing up right, as one arm is straight and normal while the other is not)
To give you an accurate plan, I need to know if the block of full extension is a hard end feel, meaning it feels like a bony block or a soft end feel, like a tissue or stretch block? Unfortunately, since you’ve had this your whole life, it might be a bony block. That can’t be helped without hands on work and maybe not at all. If it’s tissue, we have something we can work with. 😊
@@ginahoegh I'm honestly not too sure but i think it might be a bony block :( just in case it isn't, what would you suggest to do if it were a tissue block?
Natasha S prolonged stretching would be a good place to start. Lie down on your back with your arm at your side. Place a rolled up towel just above the elbow. Hold a weight in your hand (palm up)for around 10 minutes. Start with around 3# and work up as tolerated. A good assessment from a physical therapist or chiropractor would give you the answers you need.
Only slightly. It helps to remove some of the tightness and tension on the front of the shoulder, but scapular winging requires strengthening of the scapular muscles in the back. I don’t have any videos for that in particular. But I would type in fixing scapular winging and you’ll find a ton of videos that will give you some suggestions.

@@ginahoegh yeah the dogleash over the shoulder n under ur butt ain’t wkg for me lol They tried about 20 min and couldn’t get either side to move much at all. So many trigger points in my muscles. Gonna take awhile and then need to go to keep it in place. It was very painful too n then felt like a truck had run over me later. I have much more pain ahead.
Hello how can u specify if the injury is severe? Mine i cant lift my arm but i can move.my wrist and fingers. I can shrig my shoulders too. Pls advice me

I would agree that it is likely the way you are sleeping on that shoulder. The stretches will hopefully make a difference for you.
Gina great presentation. Do you have the strengthening side to this issue? Sorry if I missed it. Thanks.
Thank you Scott. Unfortunately, I do not have a strength video for this issue.
@@ginahoegh ok well I’ll work on the scapula push-ups until then...

Why flip the palms over for biceps?
After you have someone assist you to do this stretch, the question will be answered.

The subclavian what?
Subclavian area. Subclavius muscle and the subclavian vein.
1st rib mobilization
Ask ur PT to do this
It will change ur world
I’ve had mine adjusted in the past. And I do my own mobilization as well. My background is PT. It is needed at times for sure.

With the type of injury you are referring to, you would need physical therapy. These are stretches for tightness in the area, not a nerve injury.
