I am crying right now 🥺 I have been to Neurologist, physically therapy, brain scans, etc.
I suggested that it might be Thoracic outlet syndrome and they told me no.
The constant tingling, numbness, burning and sometimes weakness was so bad that I started getting depressed 😔
I just followed your routine and I feel 100th percent better.
I am a hair stylist and photographer, so it's a double whammy.

Thank you so much Adam, i am eternally grateful to you brother.
21 years of constant pain and crackling in my neck every time i turn right associated with continuous nasty headaches on a daily basis, lethargy, brain fog, forgetfulness and a prominent 24/7 vein on my right temporal area.
I might have an Atlas problem but your technique really brought a unmatched relief of the pain.
I began rubbing heated castor oil ( throw some salt and some olive oil)
To break up the deep adhesions and fascia restrictions , ⚠️ This is very vital for you guys.

I’m a therapist with 12 yrs exp everything he is saying is accurate. One thing I like to do that the patient hates is isolating the muscle with my fingers and gliding them down the muscles as the patient stretches in the opposite direction. It’s called active release technique and it works every time. Patient hates you for a few minutes but then loves you forever 24 hrs later. I always make them ice afterwards. They always request it if it flares up again.

How common is this? Why has none of the physiotherapists and doctors I have been to never ever said anything about it to me? This is the pain I have been living with for at least 10 years and without realising it, I had been doing some of the massaging techniques you describes myself. It was the only stuff that helped relieve some of the discomfort and pain. I have ever had a full body scan done, including bone scan, because the doctors could not figure out what was causing my pain. So upset now about the lost time and resources :/

As the trigger points become less intense, one can gradually use a back knob tool to work on the upper back. This approach has been instrumental in alleviating my jaw problems.

I’m desperate and tired of being in so much pain. I was told my pregnancy most likely caused it. I feel like my ribs are being stabbed constantly. Hurts to sleep on my back and sides it’s miserable. First, holy sh#t! When I tell you I feel 100% better after the massages, I am speaking nothing but the truth! After months of watching UA-cam vids, going to a chiropractor and having acupuncture, this video alone has created such a sense of relief, instantly! This is the first video that popped up in my recommendations that specifically mentioned Thoratic Outlet Syndrome. I wasn’t sure if I should watch but I am glad I did!
I work from home on a computer everyday and my neck issue has been giving me the blues since last year. Neither of my chiropractors have mentioned these massages first before stretching. I kinda feel that’s a no-brainer and probably my bad for not asking, but I just can’t get over the relief I’m feeling! Like someone else mentioned in the comments, I was beginning to get very depressed. I was experiencing brain fog, occasional double vision, tingling in my fingers and arms, and almost questioning if I was able to adequately take on my workload to any degree of success. I can go on but wow! This is such a relief! My only question is how often should the massages and stretched be done a day? It felt so good I wouldn’t mind doing it multiple times a day! Thank you again!

Yes, you're right on point with all those muscles that trigger so much pain. But my problem isn't bad posture, though I could always work on that. My problem was a seat belt impact from a car accident years ago, and there's so many more muscles that also hurt. What I'm trying to figure out is, if my "tennis elbow" pain (also from repetitive grocery job and ceramic art) will dissipate by stretching these muscle groups and doing strengthening exercises?? I'm gotta admit the pain doesn't inspire me to exercise right now, but I do want to stay strong to do ceramics for many years. Any information is welcome. Thank you for putting out these videos.

(Age 55, able to do lots of physical stuff and i live for outdoors) I think people jump to surgery way too fast, potentially complicating things, instead of reversing the causes. A lot is within our ability to improve, for free, and at home. Of course, i couldn't remove my own appendix so grateful there were very fine surgeons for that : )

My man! Thank you... I've been to the VA and I've expressed that my neck has been clicking, popping, and getting stuck around my throat for over a year now. I had an HNT exam with a scope down my throat just to make sure it wasn't cancer. I never even heard of this (TOS) and I've been researching Hodgkins Lymphoma syndromes due to my lack of confidence in my PC. I did this while watching and I felt instant relief and all the misalignment I've been feeling disappeared almost instantly. I will still keep with my due diligence and request my PC to send me to PT for this. Thank you!

First of all, THANK YOU for this video. I've been struggling with nerve pain and circulation issues in my arms and hands, PT was kind of helpful for incorporating some TOS stretches but not enough. This helped me discover that EXTREMELY tight scalenes are probably the culprit.
Question, though (and for anyone else who wants to answer): when I do the first stretch, I feel blood rush to the affected side but also a lot of tingling and sometimes heaviness. Is this ok or should I avoid this stretch, and if so what might be the cause?

Fantastic video, very few others address the scalenes, subclavius, and pec minor. I had what was suspected to be TOS a couple of years ago, which presented as constant pain on the edge of my scap, and pain/tingling down my arm into my fingers. My massage therapist originally started on the infraspinatus, but then suggested the scalenes which were, in his words, "like piano wires" 🙂. I stay on top of it now with self myofascial release and do my own cupping.

    • @TrainandMassage
      @TrainandMassage  2 роки тому +3

tight muscles creating pain isnt normal. Try holding that tension and paying attention the pain. See if it gets worse or better. It is very possible to get worse before it gets better. it could take 30s up to 2 minutes. and It might take multiple attempts to get it to release.
A tight chest can pull the clavicle down, which in turn pulls the neck forward. So it might be a reason for it. It might also be the subclavius or the suboccipital creating more tension. My TOS Challenge addresses a lot of these issues and teach you how to properly release them.

I went to physio therapy because of dislocated discs at L4/L5 and from the physio (i think it was the butterfly machine) i got such nerve pain, started deep below the right trapezius and went the neck up to my ear/teeth. Got several injections that did nothing.
Its hard to find anything because its all hard as a rock

If its hard then chances are you need to work it even more. Muscles shouldnt be hard as rocks.

5 year TOS sufferer and looking forward to starting your routines as soon as I'm done typing this! I have a couple of questions. (1) Which posture brace would you recommend? I'm not a spring chicken and need as much help as I can correcting my lifetime of poor posture. 2) I get great relief when I get migraines from massaging and pressing down on my upper trapezius. Can you recommend some self massage techniques?

I really do hope it helps! There's also a program in the description for a TOS challenge on sale right now. If this is helpful then you might want to consider it.
      1. Not a fan of posture braces so I can't recommended one. Sorry
      2. Try this video for the traps. What you're describing is a common trigger point issue. (this doesn't mean it cant be something else though) ua-cam.com/video/ilFAgUeXHeo/v-deo.html

Thank you! My scalenes(really knotty), scm, subclavius, and pec minor on my left side were brutal to massage. I can actually move my neck and shoulders freely now! Will keep releasing these areas, stretching, and strengthening so I can create permanent change!

Hey guys, is it normal to get intense tingling down the arm while you’re massaging these areas. (For me it’s the scalenes and subclavian) I just don’t know if I’m overdoing it or it’s to be expected? It forces me to take a break because of how intense it is.

try again but go at it with a gentle hand. It could be normal feeling tingling in the beginning.

    This really helped.
Part of my problem is exasperated by the fact that I'm a side/stomach sleeper. It's extremely difficult to get to sleep on my back; so, when I wake up, it's generally to a numb hand on the bottom side... Or both if I wake up on my stomach.
I just hope that this also helps me to painlessly sleep on my side again; so, I don't have to try for 4 hours to sleep on my back, or I turn over and give into the fact that I'm causing more damage just to go to sleep already.

Love how you talked about the separating the tissues and massage first. I did notice a difference when I did that first. I’ve had dorsal scap nerve damage for years and now of course ToS and CostoChondritis thanks for this!

Thank you! This is so helpful! Two questions, though.
    1) Does it make sense that TOS would create a tingly-fiery pain in my ear?
    2) When I attempt to manipulate the pec minor, I get a searing pain, not just a sore spot. Might that indicate an injury rather than just tightness? I don't want to do an exercise that might make it worse.

    • @TrainandMassage
      @TrainandMassage  Рік тому +1

Trigger point and fascia pain can create both of those feelings. With that said, start off slow and see how it feels a day or 2 after. It’s normal to be sore after esp if you never did this before.

I've been doing SCM stretches every day for 6 months with a teeny bit of help. And on top of that getting massages weekly (feels a bit better for a day or two.) BUT YOUR treatment for TOS has REALLY helped me (and left those muscles sore! lol). Thanks so much. I think I'm on to something now!
