I cannot explain how MAD I was when I opened up the remaster and the music was all different. HALF the reason why I got it was to hear this again playing it for the first time. I understand there were legal issues but I know I’m not the only one who was disappointed.
It was because the person who made the supposedly made the sound track didn't he stole it from someone and passed it off as his own there was a big case over it when it came out they should of just paid the original creator double to have the music still in it
I remember watching this for the first time back in the day. I couldn’t believe how amazing it looked lol. Funcoland we’re giving out DVD’s with this intro if you reserved the game. I got one and I would watch it over and over. Man I miss Onimusha. Capcom needs to remaster this series asap!
hehe it's onee of the hardest lessons I've learnt in life :> Never go back and see how 'amazing' older games still look hehe :> still looks good in some parts, but for some reason in particular oda nubunga looks dated hehe.
this is my favorite game of all time.. they really need to remaster the game and add HD content so that you can play it on xbox 360,PS3, xbox one, And the PS4, i would really like to get this game for my xbox 360.. best game of all time :D
I'm not normally one for cutscenes but the economy of Onimusha's intro is quite brilliant. It was staggering at the time and while the visuals have dated I think it retains a certain beauty. Some of the music is astounding e.g the opening flautist and the woodwind when the moth is ablaze - far too accomplished for a cheesy albeit highly enjoyable Action/Survival Horror game.
@@Grandmastergav86 I liked the game honestly. I was not old enough to play the old version on PS2 but for me it felt like an authentic experience. To be honest, it was kind of an expensive purchase considering that this is a pc port with a new soundtrack score.
This cutscene is one I never skipped on PS2. Onimusha 3 was the same, I don't remember 2's, and Shadow of the Colossus was another. I know there are more, but none come to mind.
when first saw this game i hadnt seen the opening cutscene so when finally did i thought nobunagas army was fighting the demon army, most notable the grunt soldiers
I played parts of this game but with all the craziness and grusome monsters that were around scared the hell outta me as a kid i didn't get a chance to finish the game cause the joy sticks made me mess on fighting different enemies where i had turn side ways it was hard but it was fun while it lasted kinda.
Me when I'm looking tough but evil if i need to remind others to not piss me off or mess with me or they'll be consequential repercussions against them...4:35.
It's a terribly awful shame this extraordinary track was plagiarized by the so called original "music composer" and was actually ghost written by a person far more talented than he could ever be. Additionally it's a terrible shame that in the remastered 2019 version they had to change the entire game soundtrack to preserve some of Capcom's supposed semblance of imagined integrity over their creativity and it seriously ruined my immersion in the first 5 minutes of the game. All was well after the initial shock passed, I researched what happened and came to accept that this gem of a powerfully poignant moment from my childhood was in essence a lie. The world turns and time moves on. It's still a great game that brings nostalgic memories of better days. All things considered it's a good HD remaster tribute, but still a let down and a shame anyway I look at it though. Oh well, now, off to slay Oda Nobunaga.
Cloud Someone either copied someone else's composition or the original composer wasn't properly credited in the ending credits crawl. Apparently there was a lawsuit filed or some type of legal action and Capcom, being the multi-billion dollar electronics entity they are tried to save face by changing the music all together in the opening scene, therefore ruining the experience for anyone who has played the game back in the PS2 days who were getting all amped up, expecting this version instead of what the remastered version passed off on us.
Cloud I'm not saying it's not worth getting for the achievements/trophies, just don't go in expecting to get pumped over Samanosuke's Theme you remember from PS2 is all. Disappointing yes. A deal breaker, not for me no. It's up to you however good sir if you want to spend the 19.99 on it.
Cloud Although if I were you and if you have 30 bucks to blow I'd pick up Hollow Knight. It's Metroid-vania style action platformer with rpg elements with nods to Souls-like rouge type games and it's difficulty isn't anything to sniff at. I just picked up the physical copy last week and have put well over 40hours on it just exploring around, collecting items, money, lore and whatnot on top of killing a few bosses I stumbled across quite on accident. I highly recommend it if you're looking for something to sink your teeth into that's new but has an old feel to it. Ya dig?
I believe what Oda Nobunaga said was "I just want one head - the head of Yoshimoto (the name of the enemy warlord)". It was not some random words but he called upon all his force to focus on killing the general, nothing else.
Imagine being Oda Nobunaga As he is on the verge of ruling Japan (it’s gotta be a slow yet steady process to conquer Japan) after crushing Imagawa Yoshimoto at the Battle of Okehazama, Oda Nobunaga gets whacked and being the highly ambitious and ruthless individual that he is, refuses to die just yet and he’s willing to forsake his humanity just so that he can fulfill his ambition of ruling Japan and the world.
I think it was because the guy who composed the soundtrack for some of the Capcom games was fired because he lied about his hearing disability. So this game had to have a new soundtrack.
Some games lose their charm over time because of nostalgia, etc. 2023 and this intro is beautifully epic, ESPECIALLY the original score. Don’t make’em like these no more
Samanosuke: Nobunaga has finally engaged the enemy *smiles* Could somebody please explain to me wtf he meant by that? I was always under the impression they were enemies obviously from their later battles, but I was always confused where Samanosuke's loyalty lied prior to Nobunaga becoming a demon. Was he a friend to Nobunaga or a foe?
I've always assumed he was happy because it was finally his chance to defeat Nobunaga. Hell, maybe he was the one that shot the arrow that killed him or took some part in planning the right moment for that.
Cloud What’s really weird though is despite him saying that quote, it doesn’t explain WHY he was fighting foot soldiers from Nobunaga’s forces. It’s like he was happy they were battling with “the enemy” yet still had to defend himself from said invading force.
the references to oda nobunaga are not familiar, yet not alienatingly foreign to western audiences - however, a great deal of background information on the historical setting is missing for most westerners, who thus miss out on a part of the experience, sadly.
PS2 era was such a golden age of gaming. The developers and companies really had balls to try new things
Legendary era in gaming
This was gaming at its best! Miss these days....
So we're all here just binging the openings in anticipation of Onimusha Way of the Sword?

Thank you! I knew I wasn't imagining it.
They changed it but I thought they did a pretty good job regardless. Admittedly the original OST was phenomenal.
It was because the person who made the supposedly made the sound track didn't he stole it from someone and passed it off as his own there was a big case over it when it came out they should of just paid the original creator double to have the music still in it

Such a classic game. Blew my mind the first time I played it.

What a great game...That was a special time in gaming...
Onimusha’s story is basically the grittier samurai era rendition of “Super Mario Bros.”

Flop Flip same here, this was the first game I brought for it.
My girlfriend wanted me to buy this when it came out and she wasn't even a gamer.
i loved this game. my favorite of the whole series by far. such great atmosphere and well paced gameplay.
This will always be one of my favorite Ps2 it was truly a head of it time .
my fav thing about these games was collecting all the spirits and using them to upgrade your weapons, there was like an infinite amount of weapons.
Bout time I found a quality Onimusha 1 intro, thanks a bunch! :)
The PS2s first real hit. A lot of players took a chance on this one and Capcom did not let them dow.
Its coming
The best early ps2 game ever!

Plus the designs of the characters and the set pieces are pretty to this day. The music was astounding and I argue it made the game.
I'm sad that nobody even recognizes this masterpiece game
