Ikr. For me taehyung definetly has the most unique stage prescence in bts. Namjoon will forever be my number 1 in stage prescence but v definetly takes the cake for the most unique.

Never seen a bad performance from them, not even a slip. Love that for the best dancer / rapper / vocalist, best rapper / leader / songwriter and baritone legend vocalist / dancer / best performer of Kpop. The ultimate big 3 of Kpop if you ask me. What I notice the most about Taehyung though is that he doesn't have any title to do justice to his talent. Hoseok and Namjoon atleast have some positions and I love that for them but Taehyung is not the "main" anything (according to the positions given 8 years ago) even when he's the Idol who inspire most rookies. He's the standard they wish to achieve. He's the "main character" though and his brand power is unmatchable. He's not called "Idol of Idols" and "Worldwide IT boy" for nothing. Really want this boy to get more and more recognition. It's based on the Greek myth of Narcissis. So it is about self love, the wrong kind. (Like Narcissistic) He fell in love with his own reflection in a lake. He was cursed & turned into a flower. That's why you are seeing flowers & lake in the video.
He didn't turn into a flower. There was a man named Narcissus• who was very arrogant. One day he sat by a lake and looked upon his reflection. A nymph named echo saw Narcissus and fell in love. She asked him out but got rejected because Narcissus was too full of himself. Now there are 2 endings: 1. Echo prays to Nemisis (Goddess of Revenge) and he falls in love with his own reflection and since he could not date his own reflection he unalived himself. 2. Aphrodite (Goddess of Love) was enraged to see the poor nymph be rejected like that and cursed him to fall in love with his reflection and unalived himself because he couldn't date his reflection.
I heard that RM, (he wrote the lyrics for this song) in a live, said that he wrote 'Singularity' based on the book 'The Singularity is near' by Ray Kurzweil (which talks about how the combination of human and AI would be an irreversible change and would be an evolution and then humans finally realised that they are singular and unique). Singularity is basically about someone who woke up from a beautiful dream of perfect love (due to the sound of 'a crack in the lake') and realised how toxic it was for him and how he is unique and his own person. That's why there are some scenes which looked kinda dreamy. And now this realisation about how toxic this love is irreversible and evolutionary. I heard it also includes the concept of Narcissis, where he fell in love with himself way too much by looking at his reflection in the lake and it lead to his death (the scenes of that cloth hanger and whenever V looks at his reflection in the mv refers to this) and also the story of Ophelia, where she loved everyone else around her way too much that she died while picking flowers from the lake for them. So both stories include the concept of Lake and flowers.. (I don't know if every thing is correct . Just what I read somewhere)

OMG i remember when i first saw it i wasn't an army but i knew it was V i was just speechless the whole time and i zoned out during the whole video cuz even his voice was unreal and I'm still zoning out till this day 😅
One of the things that's often mentioned about V is that he has a very high ability to make his actions - particularly on stage, but you can see it in this MV as well - work with the camera. He is extremely aware of where the cameras are and how they capture images, and he makes that work for him to extraordinary effect. Going through your analysis of BTS MVs makes us realize how much the director worked on the deepest meaning of the songs in order to convey the emotions. Nothing is random. This is passion and it shows an awesome teamwork.
I think the contrary, Singularity is everything different, unique, singular and the personality of Taehyung is unique and different and of course the king of duality, a person very peculiar.

Honestly, the vibe that I get from this song is not quite loving and happy. It's more desperate and agonizing. As if he is trapped on the lake covered with ice looking at himself in the reflection. Behind the reflection there is his true self, but he can't break the ice. He is screaming, but can't seem to hear his voice, it's not coming through the ice either. Like he wants to love himself and accept his shadows and reflections, but can't seem to be able to do that yet. Also, knowing that this video was the Comeback trailer for Fake Love, where they talk about fake loving themselves, gives an idea for the message. This song and the video is so beautiful tho! It is amazing to me how you can catch the message of the video just by watching it 1-2 times! It really is art. So many thoughts are hidden behind every shot and picture. Also, the music is very slow, rnb soul genre, but the dancing is quite intense, which also shows contrast - maybe he is trying to stay calm on the outside, but everything inside him is screaming and shouting, unable to stand still? Anyways, I love how everything has a meaning, emphasizing the feel of the song. I love this whole experience so much! Ah! (btw, i just remembered that this video was first ever that I watched from bts and I was impressed by the visuals. I didn't really like the song, but something about this video - the tension that song and dancing had between each other, the production of the music that feels like something was left unsaid - made me rewatch it many times later. And this way I got into bts)
Wow when you said the dresses where probably duality my mind was blown away. I’ve never thought of it like that but it also makes so much sense, especially because the whole video is contrasting with other things in the video. Slow song, fast dancing, shadows, light, masking and unmasking ones self, blue, red, yellow/orange, purple. It just makes so much sense to me now and considering Taehyungs personally I’m pretty sure he’s struggled with many different parts of himself and all that keeps coming to mind is him absolutely *WORKING* them heels in that one video

There is a video for his song "Winter Bear" on BangtanTV, where V himself is listed as the director. A completely different style of course, with coarse-grained, flickering images, very raw. It seems very personal, in some parts it's a bit like his own travel-log for BTS' 2018 world tour. But there is more to it, it also tells the story of the song and every time I watch it I am very touched by it. I guess it cannot be compared to high end videos like this, so it might not be as technically interesting to you, but I love it so much, I wanted to at least draw your attention to its existence.
Sometimes I feel that the room where he sets in the corner, is his character's mind Like that true self is setting trapped in the corner in his mind where it's abandoned in a place that used to be like a florist and now the news papers are blocking the light and the tv is broken... it also looks like an integration room in some frames and that would correlate with the his character in the BU

I have been waiting for this review, and wow, it exceeded all expectations. This is a very unique song, in sound, vibe, and certainly visuals, from the "typical" BTS material. But it's 100% Tae (V). His voice is uniquely rich and soulful, and absolutely made for this sound. I love your approach to tying in the technical aspects of the videos to what the song and video portray, that the emotions we feel are greatly enhanced by the artistry and technical talents of the people making these videos. And your repeatedly noting the duality in the images seeming to contradict the song's title makes sense when you think of the mathematical/physical definition of singularity, a point where an object no longer follows established measures and loses definition, such as infinity. From Universe Today: "it is a point in which all physical laws are indistinguishable from one another, where space and time are no longer interrelated realities, but merge indistinguishably and cease to have any independent meaning."
This is true art. The way art should be seen. Art come alive. The song, the voice, the performance, the stage. So much beauty, so much emotion, so fluid. I love V and I love this.

I love watching bts videos with you because I learn so much more! I’m really intrigued whenever you talk about lighting because the absolute depth of meaning of great lighting is something I tragically haven’t thought over before! Watching your videos has totally opened my eyes to it, so thankyou!
To me this song is about “cognitive dissonance”. The sound of the song is very sultry and yet the lyric isn’t about anything romantic. Rather it’s about pain and anguish. The tempo is slow but the movements of the choreography is fast. It’s almost like “watching” a song but “hearing” a different story from a voice over (the song sung now almost becomes an inner voice). Thus, reflecting the whole notion of “dissonance” or internal struggle, the side that we would never let known on the surface. I also find that the song only offers the feeling of this cognitive dissonance without reaching a resolution. Maybe this is just life. We are all constantly living in this state and we just need to live with it. We cannot eliminate it entirely but acknowledging helps minimize it to a certain degree. It’s just my interpretation but BTS’s work is never short of genius.
That was also my first take on Singularity when it was unveiled. It is the constant dissonance. From the gritty but soft visuals to the sultry melody with monotone beats. The striking opposite ends of the color spectrum merging in slices of purple (because red & blue is purple), to the choreography that follows only the steady beat of the metronome instead of the music as a whole. The neo soul genre (primarily Black music) with the classic European aesthetics (rich warm tones). And a full 3:30 minutes of Kim Taehyung with nary a smile except for a total of 2 secs of a sneering smirk; first, before he pulled away from his own hand as he dances with the coat rack, his phantom hand trying to caress his face and another when he was walking towards the camera, background Blue, back up dancers dancing with their respective coat racks and Taehyung singing "pain is still the same". That blends it into a cohesive piece of art. And it is that dissonance that makes the multiple layer of art in this MV so palpable. If Actor Kim Taehyung is to be praised in this MV it is of the full use of his eyes, conveying the underlying emotions of what he is really singing about, from the time he opened his eyes till he covered them. Singularity in duality. This is why Namjoon said on his Live that Taehyung saved this song he wrote. Because all other 6 Bangtan believes Taehyung is one who has never changed his core but has changed the most to accommodate them. Namjoon thinks the song needs someone who is really singularly dual in real life to make it make sense.

Just like my hubby when he first heard and saw Singularity MV. He said Taehyung's voice is beautiful (has a characteristic) and the music is good. Overall all very good. And Singularity became his favourite.
V has won multiple #1Most Handsome Man in the World with different agencies that gave him this title. He was Hall of Famer in the #1 Most Heartthrob Man in the World since he was 3 yrs in a row winner. They did not include him in the most recent voting because he reached the total wins for this title. Please check some other agencies that gave him all the titles in different categories. He is the only member that gathered a lot of titles. Japan, UK, Germany etc had proclaimed that V is the Most Handsome/Beautiful Face in the Whole Universe! I believe it them. what I like about BTS' productions is that they even try to send the message not just with the MV but in the live performances too. In the live performance he uses the black cloth, the masks around him, the flowers etc. it's beautiful

i think it's other way around. in the purple room he seem very miserable sitting in the corner, the roses are the love that he has chosen over himself. and one the lake's ice, that has been hiding his true self, has melted, he is standing firmly on the water that's left, in a colorless room with dead roses that he burned, dead love. it's like you have to sacrifice one to have another: either love or yourself. that's the theme of an album and Singularity was an opening song

Honestly, the vibe that I get from this song is not quite loving and happy. It's more desperate and agonizing. As if he is trapped on the lake covered with ice looking at himself in the reflection. Behind the reflection there is his true self, but he can't break the ice. He is screaming, but can't seem to hear his voice, it's not coming through the ice either. Like he wants to love himself and accept his shadows and reflections, but can't seem to be able to do that yet.
Also, knowing that this video was the Comeback trailer for Fake Love, where they talk about fake loving themselves, gives an idea for the message.
This song and the video is so beautiful tho! It is amazing to me how you can catch the message of the video just by watching it 1-2 times! It really is art. So many thoughts are hidden behind every shot and picture.
Also, the music is very slow, rnb soul genre, but the dancing is quite intense, which also shows contrast - maybe he is trying to stay calm on the outside, but everything inside him is screaming and shouting, unable to stand still? Anyways, I love how everything has a meaning, emphasizing the feel of the song. I love this whole experience so much! Ah!
(btw, i just remembered that this video was first ever that I watched from bts and I was impressed by the visuals. I didn't really like the song, but something about this video - the tension that song and dancing had between each other, the production of the music that feels like something was left unsaid - made me rewatch it many times later. And this way I got into bts)
Wow when you said the dresses where probably duality my mind was blown away. I’ve never thought of it like that but it also makes so much sense, especially because the whole video is contrasting with other things in the video. Slow song, fast dancing, shadows, light, masking and unmasking ones self, blue, red, yellow/orange, purple. It just makes so much sense to me now and considering Taehyungs personally I’m pretty sure he’s struggled with many different parts of himself and all that keeps coming to mind is him absolutely *WORKING* them heels in that one video

There is a video for his song "Winter Bear" on BangtanTV, where V himself is listed as the director. A completely different style of course, with coarse-grained, flickering images, very raw. It seems very personal, in some parts it's a bit like his own travel-log for BTS' 2018 world tour. But there is more to it, it also tells the story of the song and every time I watch it I am very touched by it. I guess it cannot be compared to high end videos like this, so it might not be as technically interesting to you, but I love it so much, I wanted to at least draw your attention to its existence.

I have been waiting for this review, and wow, it exceeded all expectations. This is a very unique song, in sound, vibe, and certainly visuals, from the "typical" BTS material. But it's 100% Tae (V). His voice is uniquely rich and soulful, and absolutely made for this sound. I love your approach to tying in the technical aspects of the videos to what the song and video portray, that the emotions we feel are greatly enhanced by the artistry and technical talents of the people making these videos. And your repeatedly noting the duality in the images seeming to contradict the song's title makes sense when you think of the mathematical/physical definition of singularity, a point where an object no longer follows established measures and loses definition, such as infinity. From Universe Today: "it is a point in which all physical laws are indistinguishable from one another, where space and time are no longer interrelated realities, but merge indistinguishably and cease to have any independent meaning."

I got goosebump every time I watch this MV. it’s sooo beautiful indeed
To me this song is about “cognitive dissonance”. The sound of the song is very sultry and yet the lyric isn’t about anything romantic. Rather it’s about pain and anguish. The tempo is slow but the movements of the choreography is fast. It’s almost like “watching” a song but “hearing” a different story from a voice over (the song sung now almost becomes an inner voice). Thus, reflecting the whole notion of “dissonance” or internal struggle, the side that we would never let known on the surface. I also find that the song only offers the feeling of this cognitive dissonance without reaching a resolution. Maybe this is just life. We are all constantly living in this state and we just need to live with it. We cannot eliminate it entirely but acknowledging helps minimize it to a certain degree. It’s just my interpretation but BTS’s work is never short of genius.
I don't know why but they always make sad songs in a very SEXY way...
That was also my first take on Singularity when it was unveiled.
It is the constant dissonance.
From the gritty but soft visuals to the sultry melody with monotone beats. The striking opposite ends of the color spectrum merging in slices of purple (because red & blue is purple), to the choreography that follows only the steady beat of the metronome instead of the music as a whole.
The neo soul genre (primarily Black music) with the classic European aesthetics (rich warm tones).
And a full 3:30 minutes of Kim Taehyung with nary a smile except for a total of 2 secs of a sneering smirk; first, before he pulled away from his own hand as he dances with the coat rack, his phantom hand trying to caress his face and another when he was walking towards the camera, background Blue, back up dancers dancing with their respective coat racks and Taehyung singing "pain is still the same".
That blends it into a cohesive piece of art.
And it is that dissonance that makes the multiple layer of art in this MV so palpable.
If Actor Kim Taehyung is to be praised in this MV it is of the full use of his eyes, conveying the underlying emotions of what he is really singing about, from the time he opened his eyes till he covered them.
Singularity in duality.
This is why Namjoon said on his Live that Taehyung saved this song he wrote.
Because all other 6 Bangtan believes Taehyung is one who has never changed his core but has changed the most to accommodate them.
Namjoon thinks the song needs someone who is really singularly dual in real life to make it make sense.

Just like my hubby when he first heard and saw Singularity MV. He said Taehyung's voice is beautiful (has a characteristic) and the music is good. Overall all very good. And Singularity became his favourite.

i think it's other way around. in the purple room he seem very miserable sitting in the corner, the roses are the love that he has chosen over himself. and one the lake's ice, that has been hiding his true self, has melted, he is standing firmly on the water that's left, in a colorless room with dead roses that he burned, dead love. it's like you have to sacrifice one to have another: either love or yourself. that's the theme of an album and Singularity was an opening song

WOW! This is truly a video showing great artistry in it. The entire music video is a work of art itself. I admired the collaboration of the artist, the set designer, director and those who worked so hard to come up with a very beautiful music video. I truly appreciated the entire concept. V is truly a breath of fresh air in this video. He has an exceptional way of projecting beautifully in each frame. All the scenes that V did was fascinating, mesmerizing and enticing!
