Back in the day, Gospel queen Iris Stevenson said that V had a soulful voice and that people listen when he sings. She said bighit should keep him. V has a unique vocal tone but has the widest range in the group. He can hit the high notes the tenors sing but can go deep as well. Stigma showcases his range with the high notes. V IS the r&b, jazz , blues and soul singer of the group. Rm said that v is very good at being able to sing many genres and sound authentic. His layover album is a no skip, vibey slow jam album full of r&B and jazz. V wanted to use his first solo album as an introduction to him. Layover is him showing us the music he likes and it’s offers a soothing pause in your hectic day. You need to check out layover and his tiny desk and band sessions. Perry (british musician) & RM. both credited for songwriting (composing & lyrics) & producing based on LY tear album physical notes - in RM's behind the album, he said Charlie's the composer (melody) while he's the lyric writer also the lyrics are written like poetry including lots of very korean terminology.

For additional context, Singularity is the intro to the Love Yourself: Tear album. It is the 2nd album of the Love Yourself trilogy series, where each of the albums have themes that revolve around love and relationships. Love Yourself: Her is the beginning, which explores the first feelings and giddiness of love. Jimin’s solo song Serendipity is the intro of that album, and DNA the main track. LY: Tear is when relationships start to break down and this was the perfect song to introduce the transition to the 2nd album. The main track for this album is Fake Love, and you’ll see why masks are a common prop used for songs in this era. The last album of the trilogy is LY: Answer, where one eventually discovers that loving oneself is essential before we can love others. It starts out with JK’s Euphoria, and is peppered with members’ solo songs at different stages of love, the last of which is Jin’s Epiphany. BTS usually have themes for their albums so you get alot of context about lyrics from that as well, and if you see the albums in order you'll see they are related to each other kinda, especially the earlier albums. And also, BTS have had their own fictional story running through these albums in the beginning so many lyrics are based on that as well.
V is massive fan of jazz, r&b, soul, neo soul and that reflects in his voice

This song made me do a deep dive not only into V but BTS as a whole and the discovery was literally life changing for me. I’ve never seen a group with so much talent as seven individuals but then be amplified as a group of seven to the extent that there is absolutely no genre that these seven can not slay and dominate at this point. They are a once-in-a-lifetime experience of perfect synergy and synchronicity.

You can picture how, as a mom in the crowd at MetLife with her kids (flew 1200+ miles for that concert), I couldn't even side eye my 21 year old daughter when she screamed "Take it off" while he was dancing and acting like he was gonna remove the jacket. 😅

important context for this song: they were going through tremendously hard times back then, and thinking of disbanding. they only told us later on, once things got better. this song could be about romantic love. it could also definitely be about their relationship with being famous. that shit is layered haha. it was the intro to the tear album, fake love being the main track and outro:tear the conclusion. there's a whole story there, of trying to find a way to be yourself while trying to be what others want you to be. it's one of their best albums, for many fans. Every single song on it is amazing.

20:20 That's exactly what I said when I started getting into BTS which wasn't too long ago. You've got 7 superstars all of which are super talented, humble, charismatic, and each one of them has a very unique individual style and set of skills, but somehow they fit together perfectly and make it work. People call them the Avengers of the music industry. You never know what to expect or what you're gonna get with them. They're the most versatile artists I've ever seen and they never stop surprising me and that's why they appeal to millions of people of all age groups and with very different music tastes.

@@SS_642A lot of those comments you’re seeing are either from Kpoppies, shippers and other solos. There’s been a growth of that and their entitlement as soon as chapter 2 started, when members began their own solo careers… One fandom subculture which I discovered becoming an ARMY is the existence of these groups that do nothing but just project and project their hate. It could be coz they have some delusional idea of competition amongst members or that they’re repeating what they see and read in their circles… but there really isn’t a sensible reason for it at all.
I hope your experience has been wonderful so far! (And that you stay away from those spaces). Being an ARMY is really a wild experience and mostly a good one. Just please be cautious not to get sucked into those subgroups. They’re just loud and wrong.
@@snowflowerandwhatnots ahh yeah... I see many good army too. But the toxic solos and shippers are truly horrible. And most horrible ones are the ones who pretend to be fans or pretend to love all BTS members but are actually toxic solos who leave passive aggressive comments about other members.
I met some of these. One such toxic solo stan was actually jimin solo stan but I don't want any members name to be associated with these toxic Stans bcz they are not really the fans bcz rean fan would never hate the one whom their favs love. That toxic stan was just writing passive aggressive comments about v and also started arguing when I replied and instead called me a toxic V stan. That person really hates V bcz the way that person writes cryptic comments with passive aggressiveness towards V and calls him talentless and so many bad things but then portrays as if she is the ot7 and just dealing with V's toxic Stans.
Similarly few days back when someone was calling jimin bad names for being in the show AYS with jk and saying things like he is seducing jk and just too bad things to mention here. When I defended him in the replies, they called me toxic jikooker..
I just started exploring BTS but These toxic shippers and toxic Stans are a real headache. I'm ok with shippers who just ship them for their bond and not for their own fantasies and delusional assumptions but the delulu ones are so toxic. I just try to ignore them as much as possible and only reply when I feel the hate is just overflowing.
Fun fact about Taehyung is he's also an actor! Other kpop idols/trainees study his performances when learning about facial expressions, stage presence, movements, etc. He had to sit through one of their concerts because he was injured but man, that didn't stop his stage presence to ooze out in every performance. Just his facial expressions alone and the timbre of his voice made it seem like he was performing with the other members. It was a sight, there were lots of gifs and videos going around social media because he was still an amazing performer despite being seated.
For Jin, he has a song produced by Coldplay called The Astronaut and a fan favorite song, Epiphany. But personally, if you want to get a closer look at his range, I suggest you listen to Yours. It's an OST for a k-drama released in 2021. Jin's the funniest and wackiest in the group but his songs are a bit different to his off-screen persona. Hope you have fun discovering him too!

The live version of both Stigma and Singularity are next level. I’ve rewatched these videos a gazillion times and I’m still stunned every single time. Taehyung has the widest range out of the vocal line. He often has to sing higher than his natural range in most BTS songs. "Sweet Night" was my entry into the BTS rabbit hole. His voice is like a warm cup of hot chocolate enjoyed by a fireplace. It touches the soul. I would definitely recommend watching Singularity live. IMO, each member grew and developed so much mostlu because of good leadership of RM by encouraging them to find their own color like by giving them a list of artists and songs to listen to pre-debut, to make their own songs within BTS albums, hyung line are producers too, so I think they collectively helped to shape each other to the artists they are now.. It's just great man, they are a collective. And your impressions man are on point!
V is the member that attracted me to BTS thanks to the fact that I fell in love with his voice and his face. I discovered BTS and I couldn't be more grateful. Their music is not commercial at all but it is incredible, I really loved the analogy you made about each member dreaming different colors that fill all the spaces, literally that is BTS and that's why when they get together one's head just goes crazy, in addition to the fact that that they make music in a totally different way like very few today and that is great because their entire discography seriously transmits something, it is not empty music, that is, all the production, the lyrics and the artistic concepts of the staging, everything. Iris Stevenson said it right when she said Taehyung has soul and when he sings people will *listen* to him. I can't wait for you to check out his live music. Iris Stevenson-McCullough, an American academic, public school teacher, and choir director, and the inspiration for the Sister Act 2 film, was in a series BTS did right after their first debut year, when they didn't get cancelled like so many groups, and went to LA to learn I guess, the original hip hop methods, called AMERICAN HUSTLE LIFE (2014).

Stigma live on the Wings Tour in 2017 is one of my favorite performances of V. It's older but you can FEEL his joy when he hits the high note, it's such a vibe.
Layover is a great album, all V solo material. But if you want a taste of his songwriting, check out Blue & Gray-it is a BTS track that was originally going to be one of his solo songs and it is beautiful.

You are not ready for our Visual and Vocal King V. If you love the video you are going to go crazy for the live performance. His voice always sounds better live like melted caramel. He is a mix of R&B, jazz and neo soul. Widest vocal range of the members his high and low notes are crazy good. And then there is his growl when he is rocking.

You haven’t even tipped the iceberg with V! One of his solo songs under BTS, Stigma, is a fusion of soul, R&B and jazz. He hits an F5 & a G5 back to back and opens the sound so skillfully at the top that you know in that instant the man doesn’t just sing…his voice is an instrument…he can sang! You KNOW what I mean! As a lover of neo soul who enjoyed Singularity, you NEED to hear Stigma!
V also did a collaboration with a soul singer named UMI. They co-wrote the song Wherever u r and it just landed them on the 2024 Billboard R&B Honor Roll. (RM also landed on that list for his new album.)
At the beginning of your reaction, you mentioned V’s album, Layover, but Singularity is not from V’s album. It’s one of 3 of his solos under BTS. It was written by RM and Charlie Perry ( the sole producer). V’s other 2 solo songs under BTS are written by V, including the aforementioned Stigma, and Inner Child, a gorgeous Brit pop track that has the potential of a stadium worthy anthem.
Moving on to Layover, I saw you already received recommendations of Tiny Desk, which is a performance of 3 Layover songs. Almost all the tracks from Layover can be found in an abundance of LIVE performances! Besides Tiny Desk, V also did First Take, IU’s Palette, MNET, Inkigayo, and NPOP, all of which are on UA-cam. Layover has 5 tracks all with cinematic MV’s which should be watched in the sequence of the album track list because they tell a story. There’s a chill, LoFi vibe throughout the whole album, V’s beautiful masculine voice is a mellow mixture of smooth soulfulness, yet thick, textured and sexy.
Finally, his most recent single, FRI(END)S, also has a fabulous MV that plays like a dark comedy. The song is very soulful with a gospel choir included in the build up at the end.
V, aka Kim Taehyung, is an actor. He won best actor for his role in Hwarang, a K Drama, and besides his own MV’s he just played the male lead in K singer IU’s dystopian MV, Love Wins All, which is really more a short film that plays like a full length movie in terms of storyline and character development. For a reaction video, it’s one to watch all the way through, then a second time to talk about it so you don’t miss a thing!

I think you need to give Layover a listen. Slow Dancing and Love You Again are gorgeous but my all time FAVORITE song of Tae's is STIGMA. It is breathtaking and his range!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He is my ALL TIME FAVORITE SINGER EVER which was occupied by George Michael my whole life and Kim Taehyung now shares that spot with him.
