Ummm... UCF won the national championship in 2017 and are co national champions with Alabama. It's in the official NCAA record books 😉
You missed one thing with these numbers Mark, Tier 3 Rights in the Big 12 belong to the universities. So when you see a team getting 39 million you can add an additional usually 8-10 million on that for Tier 3...... The Big 12 is not out financially as much as people think I really believe that Yormark will do something to even all that up in the next several years.
This guy honestly seems to have a real anti-Big 12 bias.
Yormark is going to find $40M per school per year. Wrong.
To be fair, Tier 3 rights might not be that affected by the loss of TX/OK, since those games likely never dropped to the Tier 3 level since there is no BIG12 network or The CW equivalent.
It's my understanding that each ACC member has to appear a minimum number of times on the ACCN and The CW. Such an arrangement was unlikely for the BIG12 with its current arrangement, but there may be something like that under the BIG12's new deal.
2011 OK St won a natty, 2017 UCF won a natty
Once the Acc is dead and the Big12 adds schools like: ND, UNC, Clemson, Miami, UVA, VT, Louisville & Pitt the Big12 is going to make a lot more
LOL... After what feasible chain of events ends with ND, UNC, CLEMSON, MIAMI, UVA or VATECH in the new BIG12?
Delusional....
When that happens, if that happens, yes things will be different.
Mark... I can see easing back some to not be overly harsh on the BIG12, but still... Measured by the 4-team playoff and the Final Four over the past ~10 years, the BIG12 is now dead last in football (PAC is gone) and #3 in basketball. I do agree that men's basketball is the best path for the new BIG12 to brand and to retain some national relevance. The ACC will likely lose ground in basketball from depletion, and the SEC and B1G are currently #5 and #4 (respectively) in hoops per that same measurement:
Football Playoff Appearances, 1st Rd Wins, Nattys (per Wiki 2015-2024)
ACC: 8-4-2 (Includes 1 of 2 ND appearances)
B12: 2-1-0 (Excludes OK; includes Cincy)
B1G: 12-5-2 (Includes Oregon & Washington)
PAC: 0-0-0 (Excludes Oregon & Washington)
SEC: 17-10-6 (Includes OK & TEXAS)
Final Four Appearances, 1st Rd Wins, Nattys (per Wiki 2015-2024. 2020 N/A)
ACC: 9-5-3
B12: 5-3-2 (Excludes OK; includes Houston)
BIGEAST: 6-4-4
SEC: 5-0-0 (Includes OK)
B1G: 7-3-0 (Includes Oregon & UCLA)
Nah
B10 and SEC a will get TV time and playoff berths ( look at who got the playoff spot between Bama ( one loss and not regarded as a strong SEC champ) and FSU who was undefeated
Committee will favor B10 and SEC teams for playoff spots if things are close
The watered down products you referred to in the Big 12 (Iowa State and Texas Tech) has done more on the field then Indiana and Vanderbilt ever could.
Competitive sports results in bottom feeders in every league. It’s inevitable. Every league finishes with a .500 record.
"Ever could"?
Comments like yours often remind me of a proverbial question... What does one call the person who finishes last in med school?
A: Doctor
Best part is the big12 contract will come up for renewal 2x before the Acc contract ends
Why try for an undefeated season? Look how Florida St. was screwed last year.
Big 12 isn't doing a good job at either winning or making $$$ compared to their competitors.
Who pissed in your wheaties, Mark? Big12 won’t make as much, sure. Big12 won’t have has much viewership, sure. But there is no question competitively the Big12 competes on the field and court with those conferences. If you were the Big12 Commish, what fabulous words would you have for the media when sharing revenue #s?
Take a shower and wash the arrogance off please. My words are harsh, perhaps a little crass, but it mirrors your take in this video.
Can't say I disagree with that!
On the field? No
If football could compete without Tier 1 revenue, the PAC wouldn't have scattered and the ACC wouldn't be in such distress.
The effect on the Tier 1 consolidation on men's basketball is an open question.
@@Mike-sp7zv TCU 51 Michigan 45, Kansas 34 Illinois 23, Iowa St 10 Iowa 7, Oklahoma St 31 Tx A&M 23, BYU 38 Ark 31, TX Tech 42 Miss 25, K St 40 Missouri 12, K St 42 LSU 20. Just a few examples. Like I said they can compete.
And yet everything I stated was the truth.
Best part is the big12 contract will come up for renewal 2x before the Acc contract ends another anti big12 guy.
Or the worst part. Next round could easily be lower, especially for a Tier 2 like the BIG12.
💯
Texas & OU got $0 this year
Depending on how that was accounted for, that could mean that the per team numbers are artificially inflated.
To expand, if TX/OK got $0, that was a withholding for their exit fees, which means that the BIG12 distribution is inflated from a one-off increase.
