I ran Karambwan bots when OSRS first released. Karambwan at the time it wasn't a well known money maker so ban rates were ridiculously low. I had 2-3 accounts collecting, one cooking and one selling (before GE), I was only in high school and making sometimes close to $1600 a month. Now I work a 40hr/week job and after taxes make not much more than double that, sometimes I wish i had stayed in the gold farming business. Gold prices back then were also like 1.50/Mil.
Not realistically. You cannot make 10m a day on a level 1 account, unless it's a grand exchange merching bot on a personal bot engine / bot script. Otherwise any merching script on some shit public bot platform would get you instantly banned in 1 day and you'd lose the entire cash stack.
@@jenningsgardner2205 The average wage in venezuela is like 8 dollars a month. His and your definition of ''working salary'' are probably slightly different lol
holy shit, that bit at the end... always makes ya think...a game as simple as RS generating people more money than whole careers do in terms of cash each year is insane. i can see why some people do this sort of stuff (but it's probably short-term for them tbh, when looking at the big picture, I don't see places like RS staying around 30+ years haha)
OSRS Vera If this is true, he does not need to do for 30 years. If he does for atleast 5 years he will make more money than we would ever do in our lives.
If the people you're referring to are working common office jobs then yeah sure, but 8k a month X 12 = 96k salary/year is not uncommon for people in engineering and STEM related fields, healthcare, law, accounting, etc. In all honesty RWTing is just another form of entrepreneurship, which obviously if you are a successful entrepreneur you will make a lot of money. Your logic is the same as saying why not invest all of my time into making youtube videos for a living. Maybe I'll become the next Pewdiepie and make millions of dollars (sarcasm). First of all, you need to have strong connections to get into this underground market selling virtual gold especially if you want to make big profits. Secondly, it's a lot of time investment so unless you have a lot of free time and plan on doing this for a living it's not really worth it because like I said already 96k year salary is not uncommon for people in the aforementioned jobs. Notice in the video the guy said he was only doing this during the summer because he had free time. It would be very difficult to try and juggle a full load of college courses while doing this RWT gig and even then you wouldn't be making 8k a month because obviously you have less time to commit to your job. So your suggestion to do this for 5 years and quit isn't really a good idea because like I said it's not a lot of money in the long term. A lot of my engineering buddies with summer internships are making 4k a month and they haven't even graduated yet. And why would you neglect pursuing a real job that can make you even more money compared to a RWT gig that you can't even put on your resume? This RWT gig is nothing more than a gig. It's good for some spare cash as a part time job, but not worth it in the long term when you could have invested your time elsewhere. Unless you plan on being an entrepreneur, which not everyone aspires to be, then this isn't worth it. And don't even get me started on all the bullshit you have to take into consideration like IRS knocking down on your door, job security (what will happen when Runescape dies out), what if Jagex decided to pursue a lawsuit? So many things you have to consider and let me just say this if you take nothing else from my long ass comment. Usually karma comes back to bite you in the ass when you are involved in immoral things such as the underground/black market.
But then karma can't get you if you're dead, right? ;D Joking aside. I agree with your statement. It might be one of those random side job you pick up for fun to earn some cash, but it is not a long term career.
AkiraKeiKyo Exactly man. What I'm more interested in knowing though is that one guy really making 250k-300k a month? Not the guy being interviewed in this video. The other guy who I'm assuming is the CEO of these businesses or something? Now, that would be a different story altogether because even if it's a 1 year side gig that would be 3mil-3.6mil earned in that one year alone, which is a fucking substantial amount of money.
Loving the content man. You do some kick ass interviews, that keep me coming back. Along with the other videos you have done. Keep up the great work man!
My question is how does he report his earnings? I'm assuming he uses something like PayPal which if you make a certain amount, you have to report it or the IRS comes after you.

They would have to convert a certain % of membership income to keep up money running in game and people should all have a fun game where playing actually can make them money, imagine each iron ore, each yew log's in game value worth same in real life, 142gp to 142 dogecoins, bytecoins, bitcoins, whatever, then use the bitcoins for more membership or convert it to and fiat $ or what ever you want to do with it. sorry if this has bin done, i havnt learned about it yet for a game like world of warcraft or runescape
I can see why people farm gold in RuneScape. I come from a relatively privileged background and live where the cost of living is higher (Canada), so using my time to farm/trade gold would be a waste when I can just develop my career. If you're not even making a dollar a day, then gold farming is a viable strategy.
He's like the top of the top in the RuneScape business, I'm one of his competitors and it's a hell of a lot of work to get to that 2k a week, and 2k a week isn't even a lot if you find a real job.
My brother delivers alcohol in NYC and makes 2k a week. Didn't need college or anything, now he has full benefits and makes over 100k/yr. He didn't need to spend 5 years building a business to make 100k/yr.
As appealing as the money is for something like this, people tend to forget it's only a short term solution. Sure you make a lot of money in a month but you have no benefits, no insurance, and it's not exactly something a bank will take as a career on a loan. While Runescape has been one of the most successful MMOs ever, it won't last forever. It's the same with the Twitch streamers riding whatever hype train is going on. At some point it won't be viable income anymore. Sure the train might have lasted 10 years but what do you do when you're 30 with no real viable career skills that society looks for and you're no longer making money? You would be surprised how fast you burn cash when you have no income. Let's not forget that this is also a violation of Jagex's terms of service. While unlikely they do have the right to take you to court. I recall Jagex shutting down a botting website and they were forced to give out emails to Jagex, who then in-turn would go after the largest offenders they could find. So yes going to school or practicing a trade skill is still an important thing to do. These kinds of internet media trends are only great as a side gig in your free time.
A bank WILL take it as a career on a loan as long as you claim taxes on it, people own small businesses and there is no way to show how much they make because they don’t get pay stubs. My father has to show loaners his taxes from last year for his A/C business since all profits go to him. The part about job skills is true tho
Lmao nobody elects to pay an extra 50$ per month for job benefits. You're speaking to an audience of mostly 20-year old men, not 60-year olds with prostate cancer and hemorrhoids looking to retire in a few years.

One thing that stuck out to me was your belief you'd be stuck at a 96k yearly income for the entirety of your career as a CS Major. You need to aim higher with your goals, your worth is what you make it at the end of the day. If you're stuck at that price cap, you need to definitely relocate, and re-asses.
@@YEET-yh6qc They can't compete, because they're dealing with profit margins, trying to make money, periodic small losses, directly tied to trading gold. Jagex isn't, their revenue all revolves around subscriptions. Thus, they would probably hurt their subscription revenue by dropping the value of gold low enough, but so would they by stopping botters, so that's a bit of a moot point. Point is, Jagex can lower the price lower than the sites can, and keep it there, and still stay in business, though Jagex has more to lose.
Yeah it would be impossible for a gold buyer to really know where it comes from too, and judging by the amount of pishing it's a big problem. All Liam said is because gold sellers don't buy in bulk anymore it makes it harder for them to operate

"Places such as NYC, San Francisco, etc. that's not much to live on." Yea, that's a steaming pile of BS. When you're not paying taxes on it, that's enough to live comfortably (not luxuriously, comfortably) in most of NYC and San Francisco.

Jeffrey Pell his point is still factual therefore valid.
lots of people just dont care about getting banned much
i know people who buy an account + buy a chunk of gold and just chill playing for fun and usually bot all me menial tasks as well on top of that.
its not the end of the world for them to get banned if they even do. some dont even though they break so many rules so severely.
8$ for rs3 bond 10$ for 40-50m
but it isn't becasue bonds qre 4.6m+ right now
I ran Karambwan bots when OSRS first released.
Why you dont start it again
Mod MMG sounded like it was a state of emergency :P
"Buy a bond from the Runescape website, it's practically the same price" LOL $11 for a bond vs. $3.3
It's an inside job I bet too, even some mods sell gold id be willing to wager.

doubt it i can make 10m+/day botting on 1 decent level account
Not realistically. You cannot make 10m a day on a level 1 account, unless it's a grand exchange merching bot on a personal bot engine / bot script. Otherwise any merching script on some shit public bot platform would get you instantly banned in 1 day and you'd lose the entire cash stack.

Glad you like them! Plenty more on the way
holy shit, that bit at the end... always makes ya think...a game as simple as RS generating people more money than whole careers do in terms of cash each year is insane. i can see why some people do this sort of stuff (but it's probably short-term for them tbh, when looking at the big picture, I don't see places like RS staying around 30+ years haha)
Yeah very true! With the release of EOC I'm sure a lot of these websites took a huge hit. The UA-camrs at the time like SilentC0re sure did.

If this is true, he does not need to do for 30 years.
But then karma can't get you if you're dead, right? ;D
Joking aside. I agree with your statement. It might be one of those random side job you pick up for fun to earn some cash, but it is not a long term career.
AkiraKeiKyo
Exactly man. What I'm more interested in knowing though is that one guy really making 250k-300k a month? Not the guy being interviewed in this video. The other guy who I'm assuming is the CEO of these businesses or something? Now, that would be a different story altogether because even if it's a 1 year side gig that would be 3mil-3.6mil earned in that one year alone, which is a fucking substantial amount of money.
since ive been playing since 02 you learn a lot. you make a lot of friends and fun fact JAGEX owns At least 2 gold farms
Pay sites are a very gray area for taxation. It all depends on how detailed the transactions become.

Wish Runescape or someone would come out with a game where the in game gold is 1-1 matched with a Crypto currency in real life. You can pay in crypto or real$/credit card for membership, and everything you do in game to make gold can be withdrawn at in game bank to your Crypto wallet.
The idea is there the only problem is basically laziness and possibly an even more toxic game if that's even possible, but the idea is there, yeah.
I can see why people farm gold in RuneScape. I come from a relatively privileged background and live where the cost of living is higher (Canada), so using my time to farm/trade gold would be a waste when I can just develop my career. If you're not even making a dollar a day, then gold farming is a viable strategy.
You pronounce 'Account Phishing' as 'Account Fishing' not 'Account Pishing' like you done at 9:03 KEK, you had me dying when you said account pishing

PCLearnerGuy 2k a week isnt alot you say????
My brother delivers alcohol in NYC and makes 2k a week. Didn't need college or anything, now he has full benefits and makes over 100k/yr. He didn't need to spend 5 years building a business to make 100k/yr.
But you know the minimum wage around most of the world isnt great and earning 2k a week is a difference to 300-400 a week in a daily job

Buying a bond for gp is twice as expensive as buying gp from a gold website. I dont do either of them but I have looked around out of curiosity.
You know that is very true. If you end up ten years down the road with no experience life is going to be really hard
It's actually pretty easy. step 1: Get money (1,000 min preferably) Step2: Invest in low risk stocks with 3-5% yearly returns. step3: PROFIT???

One thing that stuck out to me was your belief you'd be stuck at a 96k yearly income for the entirety of your career as a CS Major. You need to aim higher with your goals, your worth is what you make it at the end of the day. If you're stuck at that price cap, you need to definitely relocate, and re-asses.
oh yeah, how much do you make a year
If rs just sold gp for the price they sell it on internet all the sites will be down in an sec.
And then back up 2min after they've adjusted the price
@@YEET-yh6qc They can't compete, because they're dealing with profit margins, trying to make money, periodic small losses, directly tied to trading gold. Jagex isn't, their revenue all revolves around subscriptions. Thus, they would probably hurt their subscription revenue by dropping the value of gold low enough, but so would they by stopping botters, so that's a bit of a moot point. Point is, Jagex can lower the price lower than the sites can, and keep it there, and still stay in business, though Jagex has more to lose.

Very true, most people think you have to go to college to get a job and make money but if you think outside of the box and try to find alternatives, active or passive incomes, you can end up even more successfull with maybe less effort or atleast less time wasted of your life in college.
Definitely can't do a lot of high paying jobs without a degree, though. Still, I definitely agree that there are a ton more different avenues to make a living than there was 30 years ago.
