Reluctant to compare the two because they are very different people but Dave's "I'm my own man, I know the problems and will take it serious when I decide to take it serious" attitude to advice that people give him somehow reminds me of Eubank Jr and how cringeworthy it is when he comes out with the stuff about not needing a trainer. First and hopefully last time ever commenting on a UA-cam video, actually pissed off that Dave has motivated to write at this length
@Matthew Smith You're over-simplifying the situation with someone who is clearly a complex character and the fact your reply started with "whatever" shows you probably know it. Having said that you are maybe half right, by his own admission (at 4:20 in the video above) laziness has been a part of it but even after last nights performance I don't think he is going to wake up transformed. Clearly more than just a change in attitude (I will stop being lazy!) is needed if it is to be sustainable in the medium-long term, Dave talks about needing to keep himself busy and being part of a gym with other fighters could make the experience of training more enjoyable. Also investing trust in a trainer who has their own opinion about what is best for him, and is not willing to compromise on that depending on how he feels day to day, would be the biggest help. Those are the only points I was trying to make. Not sure where the self-pity comment comes from to be honest. Maybe the bit about having hard fights and being called in on short notice? I do not see any self-pity in the above video, as always he gives a very honest account of his performance, admits to under-estimating his opponent / over-estimating his own ability and says he shouldn't be on PPV. At 19:20 he says "people should never feel sorry for me", that he's living the dream and wants to go again. If your comment is made in reference to depression / gambling addiction stuff he has talked about then all I will say is I hope you extend greater empathy to your friends and family in real life. Talking about your own feelings and personal struggles is essential to working towards recovery from poor mental health / generally leading a healthy life and understanding other people. Sometimes rightly and sometimes wrongly this will come across as self-pity, but if you see self-pity as always unjustified or are incapable of understanding other people's depressed feelings as anything other than self-pity then you will not make a very good friend/father/brother/son. When so many men are killing themselves and suffering in silence with depression the fact that Dave is so open about his own feelings and personal struggles is something to be admired. The fact that such openness is not just a completely ordinary occurrence is quite sad really.
Eddie Hearn will continue to exploit this very troubled young man for his own financial gain until the boxing public stop him from doing so it’s simple
Like everyone else I find him entertaining and loveable. The problem is his poor conditioning and tactics. If he arrived in shape and used his gloves to absorb shots or slip them with movement then he wouldn't be in this situation. Dave needs to sort himself out. Running around with Monty getting into Donny slags is not the lifestyle that will get the British title. Every time he eats and drinks a non-athletes diet he needs to remember the likes of Dubois will be sipping a protein shake and clean carbs. The same in the morning when he is laying in bed while his rivals have done 5 miles of road running before breakfast. I hope Dave learns from this but I fear we will see this interview repeated several times over before retirement.
Very honest interview. Dave seriously needs some time out of the ring to train and get some proper rest. Come back in February time in better condition, would love to see him move to a new trainer and start to push on in his career.
i like Dave. For me , he should find a trainer away from his everyday life in a different city and just train without distractions and people he knows around him. lots a good fighters do that.
If I was Eddie Hearn, I wouldn't put Dave out again until he changes everything. This is a tragedy waiting to happen. I wouldn't want it on my conscience and Eddie doesn't need the money that much!
Correct he doesn’t but he’ll happily keep putting Dave on his shows & exploit his popularly to line his pockets a little bit more, absolute scumbag. Only the boxing fans can put a stop to this sick game
shane brennan spot on ! How can a promoter put a boxer in the ring (never mind ppv) knowing full well he isn’t training or eating correct! He should be monitored and stripped of he’s pro licence for he’s own sake until he starts acting as a pro ... Eddie is exploiting this guy to prop up he’s shit cards.. no conscience little rat He keeps brain washing he’s fighters with a pound note, but what good is a pound note when your brain is getting crushed. This poor bastard is getting he’s crushed once a month atm wtf? Crazy
Hearn has put this guy in with Ortiz, wrecked Brook by putting him in with GGG just to get one over the Eubanks - Hearn has no shame when it comes to the health of his fighters.
He needs to love training as much as he loves fighting - I love this guy and someone needs to get him by the scruff of the neck and get him properly prepared.
Dave, you can make us all laugh and make 20,000 people happy but you need to make yourself happy and not worry about us strangers - no matter how much we care for you. And you're not living your dream. You're living A dream but it cannot be yours or you'd not say you'd 'probably be dead without boxing'. You can't give your youth and life to being punched in the head - even if everyone does enjoy these tear-ups. You're much too unique and clever for that shit. X
Forget 60, you'll be punch drunk by 30 if he keeps going like this. It's not just this fight, he took a brutal beating against Tony Yoka just a few months back. And now he's going life and death with a clubfighter who had just fought 8 & 4 rounders in Argentina?... Someone needs to get him in touch with Tyson Fury, see if he's really interested in helping people with mental issues, 'cause I really think Dave might have a genuine death wish if he insists on fighting in december.
Rob deserves more views and more credit for his interviews. He asks the right questions. I do rate Ifl tv but there is an element there of acting matey and avoiding asking any questions or statements whereas Rob controls the questioning please or offend. Keep up the Great work!!
I've suffered with depression, and as much as I like Dave, he's kidding himself. He's massively depressed. He needs proper help. The adrenaline of fighting is a drug to him, and it's why he's constantly wanting to fight every month. He said it himself, the only other things he likes to do he shouldn't really do (gambling, drink, drugs) & in his mind he'd rather take a beating because he sees it as honest. I deal with my own depression and staying away from the above by working as much as I can, so I think I do understand him to a point, but I'm not taking punches to the head. I just hope his story doesn't have a bad ending because it's obvious deep down what a good heart he has.
just like everyone one else is saying dave needs to sort things out before he gets badly hurt get into a good gym and train and come back next year fit and challenge for a title. a good trainer and team around him good luck to him
dave is one of the most honest upfront men in boxing total respect dave and last night showed heart of a lion wish nothing but best for you GOD BLESS BROTHER 👍👍
It’s not going to end well for this guy,he shouldn’t be fighting hasn’t got the mental state to be any good, already sounding punch drunk,Eddie should not be giving him fights
I really like Dave Allen's style, he fights a little dirty - but all the best do. What sold me on him was how he gave his opponent a drink and even opened it for him, that's a good fella right there. Real quick things I noticed, good use of the head on the inside, no blatant butts. Good reflexes too, as soon as he popped that jab in the last round you were already leaning to the left coming with your overhand right (the one that opened the cut) - him vs Hughie Fury would be a good contest. Look, all of us cannot choose what we respect. Then, a small portion of that group feels they can only do the type of work they respect. Respect those that are capable. You don't know his past, you don't know what he's going through. The only reason you can say don't let him fight again in December is because you're on the internet. A boxer is remembered for his own actions and if significant enough, his own father is remembered and the seed is remembered as special. Warrior blood, then the progeny after has special clout. Silence is golden.
Why fight for the sake of it in December when you know you need to shake things up? You need to plan and prepare properly and leave yourself enough time to get everything in order so you don't put yourself at risk of losing a fight you should never lose. Contact me.
If any boxer ever needed to read a comment section it’s Dave Allen on this video as the penny isn’t dropping imo. Some really insightful and intelligent stuff being written here.
Don't wanna see Dave get hurt either but I can relate to what he's saying. Bit of a catch 22, without boxing he'd be dead but the way he's going boxing's going to be the death of him. Dave's clearly a very self aware and intelligent young man, hopefully he can continue to find his peace in boxing for many years to come. Like Dave said, we're here for a good time not a long time, let the good times roll.
He is crying out for help but won't admit it. Sad to see too many shots taken. He has potential but needs the right trainer who demands respect to guide him to British and could make European level.
Crazy how many people think it’s down to Eddie to find him a trainer etc etc. It ain’t, yeah he could probably get him in touch with who he needs but Dave has to do it for himself. Hatton, Peter Fury or Jamie Moore need to get with Dave and make him see, he has what it takes to be a British legend. He already has the fans, he has the talk, the humour, the likability. He has a granite chin, a massive right hand, now he just needs to focus on dropping down to 16.9-17-5 and start smashing people up! Great interview.
Dave Allen is way more intelligent than people give him credit for. His ability to self assess in a truly honest way is very very rare. What a shame he takes so many shots
@@givenright No, mate, being able to impartially assess your own situation is rare because we all hold biases that blurr our ability to do so. Th fact that he knows his own reality means he actually has the means to do the right thing. Whether he does it is something else.

Huge respect to Rob. Shows real care and proper consideration. Please Dave, take a break and get on a proper camp / fight schedule. You're a really good fighter but need the time to peak and rest.

He should fight next on AJs April card, rest up until the new year then get in a proper camp with a new trainer. Charles Martin is back active and would be a good match up as he is a name with a half decent record who is coming off a loss. He isn't a complete, bum, and Dave wouldn't think he can get away without training.
Good shout that, not heard that fight suggested but it's a top idea. Whether eddie would pay the money for Martin to come and fight Allen is a different matter
I think we all love Dave. We don't know the boxing game better than those in it but from an outside looking in; he needs a manager to say no to fights. He needs time for full training camps and needs some structure. Dave would be amazing with some guidance.
This interview alone should ring enough alarm bells to make sure Eddie dont put him in a fight any time soon. Dave clearly needs to be protected from himself, very sad situation !!
Dave if you like to be busy get your arse in the gym everyday and get busy. You're not busy in the ring, you're lazy and taking too many shots. Don't waste your talent. Get busy.
Proper love this guy... Consensus is the same all around though. Get a proper camp and team and protect yourself more. Even doing that he'll still get hit, just a little less and then can do what he loves for LONGER.
Dave , you ARE ' a good honest man ' ..... be honest with yourself ...... YOU NEED A COUPLE OF MONTHS OFF and then a good training camp before your next fight .... DO IT LAD !! Good interview from both sides .
I'm not worried about Dave, I don't feel sorry for him either. It's clear that he'll live his life his way which I fully respect. Some people can't or won't see the woods for the trees and thrive/feed off the fuss that is created around them for the wrong reasons. I am fan and I wish him well, with real structure in his life he could be winning belts! I'd happily pay to see him fight for a title, go on Dave.

if i was dave id get myself a driver and travel to manchester to hattons gym..dave wont be fighting this year because eddie has already said no..even uysk said at the press conference he didnt have enough time to fully recover before starting a training camp 30 days after winning a world title..so hearn wont be so stupid as to let dave fight agin before 22nd. 22nd is ok..he just hasnt had time for the body to heal..eddie just needs to slow him down.
People saying it’s not fair that he took the fight on short notice.. Dave could be given 15 weeks notice and he would still turn up out of shape.. also what does his trainer and team actually do? He needs someone to look after him and not allow him to eat Chinese takeaways when he’s in camp
What goes through his head thinking he doesnt need to train before fights, you only need to see the media workout before the fight ,i know its for the fans and the fighters probably see it as a chore but fucking about in a ring with a young kid shows he has no routine or direction..if he doesnt change trainers, his current trainer needs to let him go

The interveiwer said it all.listen to the people around you.
He’s gonna be punch drunk soon, the signs are showing - hate seeing it!
And for the record this is my new favourite channel! Love the honest questioning, putting them on the spot
Dave Caldwell to be his new trainer.
Eddie is exploiting this guy to prop up he’s shit cards.. no conscience little rat
He keeps brain washing he’s fighters with a pound note, but what good is a pound note when your brain is getting crushed.
Just a great kid wish nothing but the best for the white Rhino😁😁
This fella is very vulnerable. Need's help but ultimately he has to help himself.
Dave has so much potential. His chin is made of concrete just needs to be more fit
David needs help no a trainer! He has mental issues. These are the first sign in boxers after taking a lot of punches.
Eddie Hearn is Dave’s mentor, he lines Eddie’s pocket & in return feeds Daves addiction to be wanted by the fans for free.
He’s keeps saying “ I shouldn’t be on ppv “ his fight was the only other fight apart from the main event that I really wanted to see.
You're a pussy. Eres senora.
A prime example of the saying "failing to prepare is preparing to fail" - don't let it happen again Dave, we all want you to do well.
Rob deserves more views and more credit for his interviews. He asks the right questions. I do rate Ifl tv but there is an element there of acting matey and avoiding asking any questions or statements whereas Rob controls the questioning please or offend. Keep up the Great work!!
In most sports athletes have people who work with them in a psychological capacity, usually in boxing it’s the coach. But if that’s not working...
Gypsy king please speak to this top young man.. 🙏🙏🙏🙏
I like you Dave. I was there last night, you were diabolical.
Why has no one uploaded Dave Allen's latest fight on UA-cam
Dave's a nice fella, Rob always does great interviews and I think we've learnt Dave enjoys being around boxing more than fighting?
Take some time off and take care of your self!
It’s not going to end well for this guy,he shouldn’t be fighting hasn’t got the mental state to be any good, already sounding punch drunk,Eddie should not be giving him fights
Damn Dave... give the man a Oscar I'm almost close to tears
He's not an athlete but he's a fucking boxer, a brawler and a warrior. That's why we love Dave Allen.
if there was ever a guy given a chance and keeps blowing it, its this guy
Like him but if he can't say he will train he shouldn't get licenced
Nice guy very humble. Had good hands. In shape and proper training he could be a power at the top
-Chico Lopez -
Why fight for the sake of it in December when you know you need to shake things up? You need to plan and prepare properly and leave yourself enough time to get everything in order so you don't put yourself at risk of losing a fight you should never lose. Contact me.
Rob Tebbutt is clearly god.
If any boxer ever needed to read a comment section it’s Dave Allen on this video as the penny isn’t dropping imo. Some really insightful and intelligent stuff being written here.
This guy is real, refreshing and has a good heart
Can fight as well, very tough
I love this man good fighter and humble man indeed..he has a power and strong chin..good luck bro..
Fitness/Stamina is always the 1 thing you must have. Dont be lazy, put the time and effort in.
I don't just say this about any sports person, but I want nothing but the best for dave.
Dave needs to be protected from himself. He is a top man but has issues that need to be addressed before something tragic happens to him.
This is the white rhino he’ll never change his boxing style now. He’s a slugger and will be in more of these wars. Hope he stays healthy
Dave Allen is way more intelligent than people give him credit for. His ability to self assess in a truly honest way is very very rare. What a shame he takes so many shots
he wont be intelligent for long if he doesnt sort it out.
whats the point of self assessment if no changes are made
Anybody can self assess mate. Execution is key.
@@dru-chambers Agreed
@@givenright No, mate, being able to impartially assess your own situation is rare because we all hold biases that blurr our ability to do so. Th fact that he knows his own reality means he actually has the means to do the right thing. Whether he does it is something else.
BRAVE!!!! and honest man !! rare thing indeed in ... brutal boxing world as it is today!!
hope you stay,,fit and strong, would be a great shame ,,to see a punch-drunk Dave Allen
IN THE YEARS TO COME!!
He needs to go train with Joshua for a few weeks, see how it's done right
Good shout there
great boxing joournalist
Dave, with genuine sincerity, get some mental health support mate. You could and would be so much better for it. Love and respect.
That was a great fight and a unexpected step up lol,.... The white rihnoe will get over it ,!! All good experience for him well done mate ,.. Lets see how he bounces back but might be a bit much in December we'll see good luck Dave !! Solider on kiddo !!
Dave has an honest vulnerability about him it's very endearing. Fan's only care and want him to be the best he can be and not be self destructive. I'd hate to see him go out on his shield cause he gassed out. Im just pleased the Argentinean had the same level of stamina which give this fight a level playing field and right hard battle. Welldone Dave lad top man 👍🏼
top interview from Rob and great honesty from Dave-lets have it right Dave can do very well when living the right life and that Argie was a tough lump so a good win 4 Dave-just make it your last 1 without the proper prep and start living the right life for a top boxer and see how far your skills and toughness can take u then Dave.U r still just a pup in the game so imagine what u can do this time next year with a solid year of prep behind u not when u 60 odd etc-just 1 year down the line mate as i feel u can go far.Only box on December 22nd if uv had a good month in u but realistically it probably better to heal up from that tough scrap Saturday and just work on your cardio and diet and start sparring again at the start of next year as ul b better off for it-u dont have to down tools if u aint fighting on December 22nd.U r a smart geezer so do what u would advise who u train and u will go far.I wouldnt normally type this much but u feel like a brother from another mother-watched so many of your interviews and they r all great.Love ya mate Cmonnnnnn Davey Boy this is your time
Has a heart and chin . But he’s going to end up hurt unless he stops acting like a fool having excuses and gets a professional team around him .same shit every time excuses . I like David but he’s going to end up hurt .
Huge respect to Rob. Shows real care and proper consideration. Please Dave, take a break and get on a proper camp / fight schedule. You're a really good fighter but need the time to peak and rest.
I don't believe Dave is lazy, he's just become content. His need to make people happy must come from the fact he knows what it feels like to be sad and alone. Come on Dave, give yourself the chance to be great👊🏼
fight for free music to hearns ears he still need media training i hope dave has a successful career he needs a family think it will make him a smarter fighter
Dave is one tough Lad, has the abilty to rise to the Top, He just needs to really Believe he can do it, WE DO!!!
You just have to love Big Dave ....fkn love the guy with everything I have .....
Respect to the interviewer! 💪👍
Damn!!!! Rob tebbutt is good at what he does.Second to none
I'd love to see him team up with Adam booth..
I think we all love Dave. We don't know the boxing game better than those in it but from an outside looking in; he needs a manager to say no to fights. He needs time for full training camps and needs some structure. Dave would be amazing with some guidance.
I think he should be taking boxing a bit more seriously
This interview alone should ring enough alarm bells to make sure Eddie dont put him in a fight any time soon. Dave clearly needs to be protected from himself, very sad situation !!
Gotta give him respect. He's honest.
He needs to start taking boxing more seriously . He was knackered after 1 round . Badly underestimated his opponent
Dave Allen you can fight everyday in the gym sparring!! speak to someone and get focused, not many get the chances you have got. Gratitude my friend
Dave if you like to be busy get your arse in the gym everyday and get busy. You're not busy in the ring, you're lazy and taking too many shots. Don't waste your talent. Get busy.
God bless you kid, stay happy
Please start training proper mate cos your exciting to watch and seem like a sound lad and could be a really good boxer
Dave is a pure legend
He’s at a crossroads in his career. If he becomes dedicated, then he can get to world level, if he dosnt he ends up as just another journeyman.
I'd happily pay to see him fight for a title, go on Dave.
great guy ,needs the right people around him
eddie will defo step in after this performance..eddie has more compassion than you think
need to get in shape like u was for the aj undercard fight that fell threw uv dne it before dave tick over for rest of year come bk in shape early 2019
if i was dave id get myself a driver and travel to manchester to hattons gym..dave wont be fighting this year because eddie has already said no..even uysk said at the press conference he didnt have enough time to fully recover before starting a training camp 30 days after winning a world title..so hearn wont be so stupid as to let dave fight agin before 22nd. 22nd is ok..he just hasnt had time for the body to heal..eddie just needs to slow him down.
He’s going with Adam booth 🤞
People saying it’s not fair that he took the fight on short notice.. Dave could be given 15 weeks notice and he would still turn up out of shape.. also what does his trainer and team actually do? He needs someone to look after him and not allow him to eat Chinese takeaways when he’s in camp
If he is not going to put the effort in he needs to retire, do not want to see the guy with CTE
