Never noticed before, listened to this song multiple times now; at about 5:40 as the bridge(?) ends, you can hear a backing growl track lagging behind the cleans, now I understand why the chorus sounds more damn powerful than his normal cleans
This side of VoM kinda makes me think of Periphery, but if they were less huge prog-nerds.
veil sounds like veil is like the realist thing, they always bring back rifts either similar or the same as their old albums, and its like my favorite way that a band has progressed, cause im always like oh damn this sounds like their earlier rifts, which was always awesome

I had [id] and A Common Mans Collapse on repeat for days at a time when I first heard about them. Head bobbin and stank face on the entire way through those. Songs hit different when there aren't cleans, let alone entire albums. Veil had a very distinct sound to them that I preferred so I couldn't get into their Matriarch album. I guess wish they would have just changed the name of the band when Lucas joined because I can't just tie the same memories to this Veil of Maya.
I've been bottling that one up for a while.

My wife is not a metalhead, but she went with me to Veil of Maya and Periphery. The only thing she could say about Veil of Maya was how Lukas had BDE. Lol So good.
I would LOVE To see your all’s reaction to Nightwish and tool. They don’t fit in with most of the stuff you react to, but I think it’d be a cool change of pace. If you do choose either do Nightwish “ghost love score” the official live performance....If ya do Tool listen to “the grudge”. I’m so curious to see if Wyatt likes Dany Carey. The dudes style and technicality is, well I think he sold his soul to do some shit he does. I mean as a drummer myself for 20 years, he can play 4 different poly-rhythms on each limb, completely fighting against eachother, and just be flawless and clean. All while lookin like “hmmm maybe I should stop at the grocery after this, I’m outta eggs”
