VOM has been establishing standards for the progressive metal genre since The Common Man's Collapse. So stoked to see that Marc can continue to write riffs that hold true to their original driving prog-feel while blending melodic rhythms to allow for clean vocals.
They stand out and have a different “style” than typical metalcore bands is because they’re not really “metalcore” they have quite a bit of progressive influence. Their song structures are really standard, however (which they do extremely well). so I can understand the mistake with genres.
i can tell you didn't like the pre-chorus at all lmao but i think it's the perfect leadup to the chorus. Jumping straight into choruses from heavy riffs is super awkward sometimes. You need that short bridge leading into it, and Lukas' cleans are perfect for it.
Heyo, love the reactions! So happy to see you reacted to this! Would you consider reacting to The Fallout by Crown The Empire if you haven't heard it already? It has one of my favorite breakdowns ever!
If there's anything from the past, it's their album The Common Man's Collapse. That was back when they were more Tech/Deathcore. No singing and Marc's riffs were insane. It's Not Safe To Swim is a classic from them.
Can you do the rest of the songs from the new Trivium album that you haven't already done? I know you did the whole new 5FDP record so figured I'd ask. If that's too much, then I'd request you listen to "The Ones We Leave Behind" and "The Defiant" from it, although many songs are definitely worth the listen (it's only 8 tracks and an intro track so I'm pretty sure theres only 6 you haven't heard)
Hey buddy There is an Egyptian band called catharsis. They just released a track called Point Perfection Depression. Would be lovely if you would react to it !!
Honestly, this is probably the least original they've sounded. Their first 3 albums with the old vocalist are unmistakeably Veil Of Maya. The closest they sounded to themselves in this song was the breakdown after the first chorus.

The energy of this song is unbeatable. Honestly.
@Rahul Sharma it beats fracture
I’ll see your bet and raise you a Polaris - Hypermania
That’s a good one too.
And then they released Viscera 🥵🥵
It's almost, "unbreakable"
Veil of Maya - Mikasa next!
YES
I like how no one talks about how this mans literally screamed for 12 seconds there
Yep that was legendary
Music nerd me is sad that no one talks about that "groove of the chorus". That's a fucking waltz, my dude. It's a heavy metal waltz.
Now that sir is how you do Metalcore!! Thanks for this one!!
One of the best guitarist out there. Always blown away by his sound
When I was first introduced to them, I thought it was two guitarists. Marc is a legend
Such a sick song. The vocals in the chorus are so damn powerful.
Arguably song of the year this, it’s damn good !!
Its not safe to swim today - Veil of Maya
VEIL OF MAYA - Members only || VAIL OF MAYA - Mikasa... both are great songs
The Common Mans Collapse is their most grassroots album. their guitarist has always been insane and progressive. id album also has some bangers
Id is soooo good
My favorite album😍😍😍😍😍
Dude I love how honest all your reactions are
you should listen to unprocessed - abandoned
Devout Indomie Cultist YES
The chorus is gold🤟🤟

What!?!?😂 I almost like the prechorus more than the actual chorus.. the melody is so cool and has some of those odd harmonic features in it
I know everyone else is gonna say it already, but SERIOUSLY... check out their other song Mikasa. Its phenomenal
im here to suggest After The Burial with the song Behold the Crown, the vid its fcking hilarious.
