  • Second time getting the Lister going after putting things back together. Got a few clips of it coming together but not really enough to make it worth it. Just enjoy us fiddling with it, seeing and hearing it run.
Next Job is to build a load for it. I'm thinking an alternator to a battery and a 500w mains invertor.
    1953 Lister DH
    1.5 hp @ 700rpm
    11.2 lb-ft @ 700rpm
    350cc - 3" x 3" Bore & Stroke
(it could make more torque and power if allowed to rev out, the 2hp model allowed that)
    2 hp @ 1000rpm
    11.5 lb-ft @ 850rpm

Never let a Lister D idle too slow because it will starve the big end of oil.

Not new to me. When dad built it back up 15 years ago he got it new then. This time it just got sanded back and some £5 Wilko BBQ paint. Just finished mounting an alternator to it, needs a tensioner and electrics sorting out yet. I'll hopefully have a more detailed video after that is finished

It stopped at the end as it had run out of fuel. Choke it out and you can suck enough fuel through to get it running again. Might have to do a basic starting trouble shooting on it in the next video. I find they are most sensitive to fuelling. Make sure your 'jet' is clear of crap and that your fuel screw will wind all the way in. See your float bowl is keeping a nice level inside while its running. If fuel is dripping out the intake your jet isn't seating right with the adjuster and not atomising the fuel properly while running. If that's in good order, make sure you only use 3/4 turn to start and about 1/2 to 3/4 for running when it's warmed up. If that's alright, then see the spark timing is somewhere between 20 - 5 degrees before TDC. Make sure that spark is consistent and strong. Clean up you points in the magneto well. To do a good job they need to come out and be refitted.
Oh smoke means too much fuel

Sillyhatday thanks for the reply I’ll have to go through what you have suggested we’ll try anyway I can do somethings not to keen on talking the carb apart in case I mess it up I think it’s something to do with the air valve thing

Something could be stuck in the fuel line or the float could be stuck
