you failed to mention why Jamaica is 60% African American before it became so diverse...and the building of houses for African American soldiers returning from the Korean war, why they were called "soldier" houses is because they were all lined up like soldiers...a most important part of Jamaica's history...
I noticed that too when I moved here to New York City I couldn't tell who was African-American and who was it I live in BK I used to live in Jamaica Queens to sometimes I think NYC isn't a city for us real African Americans just way too many immigrants and not always so pleasant when you meet them
Overall Jamaica is alright at best, never had much of a problem there but it depends on which part you’re in. Very Bad Parts: South Jamaica, Sutphin BLVD Bad parts: South Ozone Park (Certain parts), Guy R Brewer, Foch Blvd, Farmers, Linden, Hollis Ave, (MAINLY AT NIGHT GO HOME lol, daytime you won’t get bothered be aware of surroundings though) Ok parts: Springfield Blvd, Francis Lewis Blvd, Brookville Blvd, St Albans, Jamaica Ave (only when high schoolers aren’t relatively around) Ozone Park and South Ozone Park (certain parts), Rochdale, Springfield Gardens, Laurelton, & Hollis Good Parts: Queens Village, Hillside, Cambria Heights, Rosedale Very Good and relatively safe parts: Jamaica Estates, Jamaica Hills, and Hollis Hills (very expensive parts though make sure you have (money money 😭)
I’m 50 years old, and I was born in Jamaica hospital. I think change is good but this has been in the making for 30 years. And it’s happening, I just hope there is a place for us! When this kind of thing happens we get moved out every time.
