If that's what you're referring to then yes... I would say the same. But keep in mind that if it wasn't for the Nissan L-Series Engines and the Technology of the VG Engines then there wouldn't be any 1JZs or 2JZs... Do some research for yourself and you'll see that the VG Engines are not "Inferior" LoL

Craig you should do a video of your foxbody! I know people don't look at them as a value like the Supra or Skyline but the value on foxbodys are going up especially the 93 Cobra.

Thanks Craig. Fantastic insight of a Supra. You must've had a blast doing all of that. I bought my Supra not because of F&F. I liked the Supra a lot. Was never imported to South Africa where I live. I had the opportunity of working in Japan permanently in 2003. I bought my Supra as company car there. Now back in South Africa and I still have her. I'm thinking of wrapping it in Yellow. Anyway. Thanks for sharing your story. I'm watching Supra on just driven too. Thank you.
Hey Craig, I just want to say thank you for everything, fast and furious made a huge impact in my life, some of my best memories of my 20's were going to watch the movie then going to cars meet, modifying my em1 civic si. Man good old times...

In the video of the "back lot of universal" clippet, there's a white R34 GTR already in the background and this is 1999 before FF1??? So someone there - especially you HAD to have seen that. Why it was never cast in the movie as a brand spanking new car that Japan itself only had available to purchase off a showroom dealer for mere months and yet sitting there in California is really worthy of investigation.
Timestamp? If it were cast it'd be only relegated to a similar role as Big Bird anycase

The supra was already a big name in the car scene so not sure how you or anyone could take that claim from Toyota. It's like the LFA it was an instant unicorn and the supra has always been such.
Bro calm your tits down, he never said anything about being the "very reason" why the supra is popular, Hollywood on the other hand. In fact Paul Walker wasn't even a tuner he was into muscle cars, the first FF will forever be cemented in tuner culture as one of the greatest car movie ever.

We were dealing with Legends Imports I remember it brother Toyota Supras rx7s skyline's were in Japan but they were popular 3,000 GT 300ZX mr2's the best import tuners of the time
The only thing the fast and the furious did was make the Supra Worth a lot more. The car was already ahead of its time by decades. wether the engineers made it like that on purpose or not, the supra will for ever be legendary.

Those cars are still badass in my opinion. The Supra and the eclipse are pretty until this day . The same dudes that were hating when you pulled up in that Supra definitely couldn’t afford one I’m sure of it! More than likely a bunch of hoopty civics with engine swaps calling it JDM ! Short for I can’t afford put bones etc on my shit😂 anyway much love to all enthusiasts with clean builds body kits whatever ,FF paved the period gotta love it .

poor hector is going to be the laughing stock at race wars when he pushes boost from t66 turbos through a fully N/A built high compression circuit purpose engine and the engine grenades.the cost of a spoon engine that are rated in the 200hp range he could had bought and built a few engines that put out 4x the power

The new MK5 BMW Supra’s looks & proportions annoy me compared to the lovely MK4 Supra looks. I just find the MK5 Supra too short & small in size / length being based on on the Z4 platform. I wish the new MK5 looked more muscular / broader like the MK4 does. Maybe the new BMW supra should of been based on the M4 platform with a wing?

Man, this is so awesome! I simply love to hear about it and see photos of that era, it is so special to me. I was born in 2001 and grew up watching F&F movies and playing Need for Speed... for me the 90's and 2000's were the best years of the automotive culture, period. A era where everyone was building their cars for theirselves and not for clout on social media...The cars, the parts, the events, the magazines, everything was so special. Thank you Craig for sharing these things and for telling the actual stories behind the movies!
hopefully those cars are preserved for the next gen as piece of car culture history
i think craig has earned his spot among the legends. he went through the OG stage, then got mainstreamed by hollywood.. had been on the receiving end of the good and the bad about this scene.. for as much as tuner world was concerned, he was a part of it.. and if he decided to build a new supra for himself, its just about as legit as the movie car.. because he owned that car you see in the movies

Why don’t you ask same manufacturers to source the stuff now? I am sure many of them would be at least interested. More to do with finding similarly passionated employee inside the companies who want to help and want to see the car again.
nope. Bigger people have tried. especially when a lot of those manufacturers don't have an english speaker readily available and are mostly out of business with many of the employees being long since retired or moved on from that very job or business on top of that. There are probably less than you can count on one hand worth of employees at ANY company still working there, 25 years later. The dude you are on the phone with is some zoomer who has no clue 99% of the time or showed up in the last 5 years, not of the glory days. especially the administrators/new upper management.
Exactly right. We love the original as cheesy as it may have been but it’s been 22 years since the film came out and 23 years since it was filmed. Lot of guys have retired since then or sadly have passed on. Also too quite a few companies went under after the scenes bubble burst somewhat
I REALLY wish they used the MK3 1986.5-1992 Supra like he suggested. You can transform that baby to look like anything and IMO it's way cooler.

First time riding along a modded+tuned turbo JDM could make one looks stupid.
In my case, that was this mildly modded gtst r32 of friend's. Yah, still rb20det, but all these noises of turbo spools, wastegate and bov, and the acceleration combined gave me the experience... And the feeling of squeeze right up at the seat upon acceleration for the first time is a memory itself xD. So i can understand what a tuned 2jz can do to someone of first time
Modded 2jz did indeed made me looks stupid even tho I've been on good amount of tuned jdm, both ridden along+owning acouple myself. And my first jz exp happened to be on this blue 2jz tt r32 gtst(yeah, my country got too much gtst in here lol). Even tho auto trans that thing squeeze me hard! Even with huge nitto tires trying their best gripping the thing, thing still sway right and left hard! 2jz definitely are on another level of their own

Huh so it was a bone stock Supra without a turbo and you basically fitted a Vintage 80's 930 Widowmaker like single turbo to it and that's what made the impression, that sudden shock of boost at probably about 5,500 rpm, also they found the right director for the style of the film, that guy was one of the guys who made Miami Vice's most famous episode back in the 80's, Definitely Miami, which was just full of style
also what happened to the F355, is it still around? and it didnt get sold to Kansas did it, as their was a guy down there, famous youtuber who lost a black one to an engine fire and it looks close to it.

My friend must be very grateful for this movie, he purchased a low mileage mint condition twin turbo manual Supra for £8000 about 17 years ago. He still has it and its insured for £50,000 (approx $70,000)

I love how they cut corners in post production in the theater version, in the motorcycle chase scene you can see the jumps on the hills and the stunt rider slaming into the curb breaking his leg, you can't see any of this on the DVD release

Why? Other than majorly cashing in when its collectability went thru the roof, its pretty clear why he sold it and was more than happy to see it go when it did, he clearly wasnt that attached to it. The guy was in his mid 30s with young kids at the time, he openly admitted to feeling out of place amongst the teen boy ricer crowd which i can totally understand tbh.
@@joshbrookes6439yep my buddy had a 3000 GT back in ‘01 we had a blast rolling in that but then he sold it about 4 years later when he got a family going to get a crew cab truck, he picked up a 1999 Civic Si for a good deal the same day he got the truck due to it being on a salvage title to cruise around in and when he would go to meets even in his late 20s he said he felt out of place, oldest guys were almost 10 years younger than him just in a different headspace, single or dating a girl and had no family commitments and were always drawing attention from cops because they couldn’t control themselves. Couldn’t even imagine either the dudes that probably hassled Craig always wanting to race his Supra which by his own admission here wasn’t a practical drag race type setup, if he’s getting almost $200k being a young family guy a ton of guys unless they’re outright rich are gonna take that offer
