@@mindfulofmaya I lived there for the last 6 months. currently away until december. it is great, you just need to know Spanish and be careful of those that will try to take advantage of your money.

@@LunaSoleil hey, I’ve been here 2 years now without leaving but I’ve bought a place here 5 years ago now. Before that it was vacations here. I guess you can say I’m on a perma-vacation. Sure beats NYC especially for the cost and the climate. There are still so many places here I’ve yet to explore ..like the untouched beaches past playa moron out East like playa Onda y Ermanito. I want to get a boat to take me there. Locally I really like playa Coson where a river meets the ocean, it’s a great spot to swim as you have a choice between river and the ocean, or just rinse off the salt after the ocean in the river! I think I remember you now you posted your business in local FB group when you moved here. I live up the mountains just behind las terrenas on the way to sanchez about 5 min out of town. It’s very quiet here, I like the peace and quiet. I like your video when you moved here. I could really feel all the emotions you must have been going through coming here. Congrads with your big move. You envisioned it in your heart and mind and you made it real. A similar thing happened for me. So yea I’m really likening it here even more so with all the drama back home. This is a safer place to ride out the storm. I emailed you. And how close do you want to be to civilization, neighbors and such, Do you like looking out your window and seeing tourists going by or look out and see the nature and nothing else? Luna, for your information and everybody else's, in the Dominican Republic YOU DO NOT PAY NOT EVEN ONE PENNY for a cat, don't ask me why, it's just the way it is, the culture with cats is when they are born people give them out as a gift to whoever needs one, most of them are people who need cats to catch mouses, no many people in DR have a cat as a regular pet, they have them to kill rats and mouses...

im considering moving too, also to LT. May I ask if you ended up doing it and quality schools did you find for your 7yr old?
@@mrslucysalas we ended up staying for a month and although we loved it, we weren’t ready to leave our comforts from America. There are a few good schools there though. Sorry I cannot be of much more help beyond that.

Hi! Great channel and enjoyable. I recently visited After 25yrs since my last visit. Now I’m making my 2nd trip. I forgot how much I love this island. I stayed in the campo in el cibao and a day in samana. I’m also seriously considering purchasing an apartment or even a shack near any beach. Preferably in las terrenas since we didn’t get go during my visit.

Try joining some Facebook groups, lots of great info there. Also, plan a trip so you can get a feel for the town before you make the move

How dependable and fast is the internet?
It just depends where you live and what type you have. My internet isn’t the best at my house but a lot of people have fiber optic. I’ll make a video on it

It is ok. This town is small, and very backwards. It is not the paradise as most UA-cam show. It is gorgeous but because the expat population and local population keep to their circle of people. I feel alone. So were off to another country soon, hopefully.

No. But we got a teaching job here in Cabrera, so we came here. We will visit there soon, hopefully next month.

Saludo!! You mentioned that you were homeschooling your little one. I wanted to ask how the schools are there? This is my biggest worry with moving to the DR. I want my kid to get a good education there.
They have American schools, but are private and more expensive. My son went to an American school and his High School diploma was valid in the US and he was able to transfer his credits to his college here in the US without any issues.

Hey! I’m not relying on making income here. It’s hard to find jobs and businesses are slow bc of COVID. I create income online from my art business and I’m working on other income streams 🙌🏽 If you work remotely, you’re good to go here 👌🏽

I have been to Punta Cana a couple times and was considering moving there, but from your videos and others Las Terrenas looks more like my vibe! How did your little girl adjust to the move? Is she speaking spanish?
It’s been 1.5 years now so she is adjusting well. The first few weeks were hard for us both. She understands and can speak a little bit she gets nervous at times

Hey! :) quick question how did you get a permanent visa to live in DR?
Find an immigration lawyer and get it done. It's not a hard process but having a lawyer to handle it is much easier.
The process is cheap and so are legal fees. But make sure you that you ask a couple of lawyers to compare prices.

I am renting. The cost of living is much lower than in most parts of the U.S.
