Casey, I'm going to nominate you for the community service award for your generosity.
I second that award to Casey
I have to give this fellow props for maintaining a sense of humor in a bad situation.
You're a good man Casey LaDelle, the world needs more people like you.👍👍👍
I think I'd vote for Casey LaDelle for President. His mindset and his core values and the good people he hangs with would be a much better environment to live in. His videos show love and kindness and "the pay it forward" approach that all humans should be doing.
@@scuss2As a Canadian, I agree with you 100%. Unlike the idiot that the USA voted into office, what a joke Trump is. I feel really bad for all the good people in the US, so much hardship is coming your way.
I Hate Casey LaDelle LOL
@@scuss2 they would knock him off, for doing good for the average person, here in Australia they sack them and say you voted for the party not the person 😂😅 saves bullets 😂 all the best to you all
@@petertom829 I sure in the heck did not vote for Trumpy Dumpy. What really bothers me is the children won't have the same freedoms as we had.
I've been on SSDI for 14 years and this year in January I turned 65. Bums me out that us Baby Boomers get handed this for our beginning retirement years, then to hear this Antichrist is going to take our health benefits away and reduce our ss payments by 33% in 6 years. I should start a Go Fund Me Page.
I live in Ohio, and I had winter tires with studs on my 2007 Volkswagon Beetle. I could drive anywhere, in fact I was on a country road and I plowed through about 8 inches of snow. The snow was being thrown off my front bumper and I didn't slow down. Even on ice, I would much rather have those studs. Thanks for your informative videos. I'm an 81 year old mother of five and grandmother of 14 and great gramma of six.
Ohio is all flat so new condition regular all season tires should work in snow
People suck so bad and those auto chains are amazing..... what a life/time saver
I spent ages thinking "why's he put that so far back, it looks ridiculous" then realised that meant more weight over the drives in the snow. Cunning!
Always a method to his madness lol
I'm not here to criticize your spelling, and you're not the only one on You Tube making comments, but hundreds of people spell realize or realized with an s.
As a response to your great comment remember Casey says, "he was never good at this".
@@scuss2 I also spell the round rubber things that he's talking about putting studs in "tyres" if that makes you feel better?
@@scuss2 Because realise and realised are equally correct, especially if you are from the UK, Australia, New Zealand and probably other former British colonial countries.
@@ecclesmilligan8712 That is one of the few where Canada doesn't follow the tradition. I really hate how "favour" for example is underlined as being spelled incorrectly.
You are correct Casey, studs simply work!
Casey to the rescue! Thank you for not adding insult to injury, I'm sure it's appreciated-- even more so when you just don't have the money and are truly trying. Thank you, Alex for your service. Safe travels and GOD bless
Agree with studs. I also like to sipe my tires. What a difference for me in the Northern Idaho Pan handle…. You are constantly buying the right tool for the job!
OK. I have to admit that I have no idea what "sipe my tires" means. I looked it up on line and I don't think their meaning has any thing to do with your comment. Online it means "Swimming-Induced Pulmonary Edema". That meaning would mean that they were very special tyres. LMAO. Can I ask what "sipe my tires" means?? Thank you and no offence intended.
Thanks for helping that person out.
Casey is absolutely right about studded tires. We have avoided several wrecks and insurance/ hospital bills because of them. We've also shuttled neighbors up our road when the 4wds. ( including my truck) couldn't make it.
I always install studded tires on my cars because of this particular issue.
The most serious truckers over here in Scandinavia are the timber truckers that run all winter on icy badly plowed small forest roads with full loads. They put on a new set of winter tires at the start of each winter all around the truck and then have zero issues all winter and then use them as summer tires until they are worn out when next winter comes. If they get into slippery situations it's common here to have auto sanders with rollers that activate when the drive wheels start slipping and then spread sand in-front of the drive tires when needed. Very rarely are chains used, it's mostly the plowtrucks who use chains in extreme ice situations.
Wonderful helping out people in need!!! And the community coming together to buy tires for him👍 How do you know it’s winter in Oregon: the shorts are longer!😂
😂😂😂 what a great pun!
Now this is my day better!
We run studded tires all the way around on our log trucks in Vermont. They work awesome
This video is award-worthy!
I agree with you about the studded tires, but I've found once the carbide insert wears out or falls out the advantage of the studs are mostly gone. They seem to last about a year, even with the high dollar Nokian studs.
Back in the 80s and early 90s my wife insisted on driving her 1970 Mustang as a daily driver, so I bought her a set of strictly winter tires for the rear end and had studs put in them. Who ever came up with studing tires was an absolute genius. 😊
In the 70s I worked in the mountains of northern California. I had a 1965 Ford Fairlane that I put studded tires on just the rear tires. I could plow through hood-high snow without a problem. Absolutely amazing.
And I saw either a Blazer or a Bronco towing a semi up the mountain out of Burney. He must have had studs on all 4 wheels. Really amazing
Thank you for your service Alex.
Thank You!😊 I will never understand why people slash tires and ruin someone’s day.😢 So many people are barely surviving in this economy and the cost of tires is so expensive. You have a whole different perspective on tire costs😉 Thanks for everything that you do to help your community. Keep up the great work and stay safe out there!❤️🙏🇺🇸
Thanks for helping people in need. You have a big heart!! I’ll buy the red sled…
the rollback is his sled :)
Agree regarding studs. Usually here it is no use for studs in city where the roads are sprayed with salt-sand mixture. We use snow tires in winter. Those outside city sometimes choose to use studs as they might encounter icy roads more often.
I've had a situation where I lost traction at 10mph down a hill in a turn on an ice covered gravel road. Had I had studs, I would not end up spinning 360 and get stuck in snow bank. As it was really slow, it was enough with a pull by another car to get unstuck.
But this experience will not make me buy studded tires as I rarely encounter ice. They are way louder, studs wear off on dry tarmac that is how it is most of the time and in winter anyway you must adjust the driving style according to road conditions.
People are the worst! Thank you for being a good person!
"Homedwellers are the worst." FTFY
Sadly I can't help feeling the insanity is just getting started
I'm amazed there was no blood and a finger with those tires air pressure is no joke and slashing tires is how you win the good old darwin award and a one way ticket to hell expiring in 1 day and no choice to not use it
@@toyotacorollaaltis8613 They're passenger car tires, not semi-truck tires. they were likely to be at 35 psi at most. Probably less due to the cold weather.
@@Regolith86 Thats more than enough to lose a hand maybe not your life but blood loss can be very bad and I don't think many people will be helping you if you got that wound from vandalizing someone elses property
Great that you could help make a bad situation a little better! Take care an God bless.
Great work again CASEY Hand of -GOD MAGIC AGAIN
Grew up in Yosemite, studs work wonders, much better than chains on chains off all winter
Studs plus awd is a winning combination!
I like watching your videos. You're an honest person.👍👍
Hey Casey, I’ve been keeping an eye on the weather up there. I got family up there too. Be safe. Stay warm. It looks like you guys are going to get hammered pretty hard.
I had a 1959 wagon with a 327 back in the 70s. I had a lot of fun with it!
Just realized we live in the same town… small world! Keep up the good work sir! I’m sure I’ll see you around over the next couple of days!
I agree with you on studded tires. I had an extra set for an older Honda civic. I used them only for a short time each year and got 10 years out of the set.
Its awesome the way you help people out in need...pity theres not many like you in this world....Stay safe Casey and see you soon
That’s a clean Discovery 2!
Thanks for the updates and tire slashing story. Lots going on. Man would I love to have that Wrangler Blazer. I am obsessed with the Ultimate Adventure.
I grew up in Norther OH. I had a set of studded tires on a Honda CB200 motorcycle. I rode with those in the winter, November to March. Studs work for what they are intended for.
Casey, I totally agree with you on studded tires! Eddie
Again I say, Casey you have a good heart. God Bless you and your
Automated chains 🤩 , would be cool have those…. Currently waiting for I-5 north of Redding to open up….
Great job guys. Thank you 😊
I love studded tires in the winter!!! I can go when others can’t!!!😂❤
Casey is absolutely right about studs. Especially in the Northwest. Most large population areas are in that freezing, thawing situation. Nothing is slicker that an overpass that was wet at 2pm and frozen at 6pm. I use studded winter tires, the last 2 sets have lasted me. 12 years, and 10 years each. I buy them mounted on steel wheels, I can change in an hour.
I have to agree about the studded tires. I have a set on steel wheels that I can swap to if the ice gets too bad, but I put Toyo Celsius tires on both cars, and they work fine most of the time, good traction in bad conditions. Not too worried about my vehicles, but other folks haven't gone to the trouble, or just can't afford Winter tires.
Studs are great in ice. They’re also great at chewing up dry roads. I live in the Willamette Valley where we get two or three icy days each winter, but there are tons of cars with studs and I’d be willing to bet that more than half never trek over the pass all winter long.
I think that there should be an annual studded tire permit required for valley residents to offset the damage done to the roads. For those of you east of the Cascades, I get it. Have the studded tires with no extra fees.
I have many years of central oregon winters under my belt and have ran both studs and studless. I feel with my small light cars the studless tires are fine but in heavier SUVs or pickups the studs help a lot.
This kind of crap never used to happen here in Central Oregon...
It wasn't that many years ago that people used to leave their keys
in their vehicles all the time, and nobody locked up their houses here.
I like to think that things are the same as they were back in the 70's,
but I'm only fooling myself...
We got about 2 inches of snow where I live on the very south west
side of Bend. We live right on the imaginary line for weather. We have gotten
8-10 inches of snow at our house, and I can drive a 1/2 mile towards town,
and there will literally be an inch of snow...
Kudos for helping out those in need Casey. I know it's not the first time
you have helped people. For some people just dealing with day to day life
is all they can manage, but when something like this happens, it can be devastating.
Fortunately there are other people and organizations that help too.
You are a good man Casey
I have to agree with you Casey on the studded tires. They did make a big difference in the winter driving when you hit the black ice or any ice for that matter. However, here in Ontario they're illegal. I don't know about the rest of Canada but they were banned here in the mid to late 70's I think it was. I remember putting studs in tires when I worked for my dad at his garage as a kid. What a pain in the ass job that was. They weren't hard to install just time consuming and boring. I took a new set of tires to a friends garage in town to have studs put in for my own car just so I wouldn't have to do them myself. Guess who wound up putting the studs in the tires. I must have been really hated back then. LMAO
I used to have a 2wd truck. I drove through 12 inches of snow with studded mud grips. I got stuck on a hill because of the other drivers. If it wasn't for the studs, I would have stayed stuck. As you can see I appreciate studded tires.
My Daughter and I like going through the comments and only reading the ones you reply too. Your return comments are as funny and truthful as your video's. "why do I have to pull further forward if I don't have to?":), I have stage 3 tonsil cancer and have spent many days this year in the hospital and when my daughter tells mom she wants to take off school and sit with me through chemo. The first thing she asks is "does Casey have a new funny video telling stupid people off." Her and I love your funny/helping videos and it helps us pass the bad times together. "I didn't say I was good at this" Thank You!
Casey and the Sunshine band. Why ? Cause you and yours always bring some sunshine to someone's rainy day. Kudos to you and yours !!
I like that small Ford Tow truck You have I would love to Have it but It's probably out of my price range.
Make him an offer, everything is for sale
In Canada you can only use studs in certain provinces. Here in Saskatchewan they are legal and they work amazingly. Anyone who says otherwise has never had studs
I totally agree with you on the studs. Here in NW oregon we get Ice or wet snow that freezes into ice at night. I drove newspapers for 23 years and never used chains even in the hills.
Where I am in northeastern Ontario Canada it can be below -40F every night for a month at a time . The streets are covered in hard packed snow and ice every day , all day, all winter . " Winter wheels " with studded snow tires are the way to go .
Glad the community got together to help this guy, never fun when a scub bag comes by and ruins your day like that. Also Versatube! I've seen them around a lot, give us your thoughts when you start putting it together.
I'm a die hard stud fan. The only winter tire I'll ever run! Yes, people argue with me too.
Outstanding Work and Great Content
Thanx for sharing your Great experience 👍
I just threw my winter tires back on, I don't have studs because they're illegal in my state. nothing like being at a red light at the line in RWD and taking off as soon as the light turns green and with a push of a button I have 4X4 high. I bought winter tires for cornering, braking and avoiding other idiots on the road, I also visit areas in the winter where losing control could mean breaking through the ice and into a lake.
Soft compound, siped and studded, is the ticket on ice. I ran studs all the way around on my 93 TA in Anchorage AK. Found the tallest tire that still allowed for clearance. Posi rear 3:40 gears and a T-56... The perfect winter daily driver until the snow got too deep. I miss that car.
On ice, studded tires are great, on wet pavement they increase braking distances, on dry pavement they are destructive, but on ice they are great.
I enjoy your videos and all the good deeds that you do. Thanks for sharing.
Nice job! The versa tube kit is a very well made system and goes up pretty easy!
Snow is not my cup of tea. But taking care of your tires is important. I enjoy your channel and your videos! Thank you for sharing!😊
Another great video I’m going to share this video because it has a great review of the auto chains.
Goooood morning Casey!!
Live in Southern BC Canada and 3-4 months it’s often melting in the day and freezing at night down in the valley. Retired now so I can usually pick my driving times but back in the day when I had to drive 20 miles to work in any weather and drove up icy steep logging roads for hunting and snow mobiling I always had studded tires and if I towed a trailer with snowmobiles I would chain the trucks rear axle. Generally though studded tires make a massive difference.
Since Washington State outlawed steel studs... only can use aluminum.
I went with walnut shell impregnated into the tread. Though not as good as studs, but far better than none.
Love watching your channel!! You ALWAYS have "stuff" going on. 😁 Tire studs... yup! I agree. I had a 65 Dodge Polara 2dr hard top back in the day and I had studded snow tires on it. Southeast Nebraska in the winter... you get everything. I could go anywhere with those tires!!
Tks Casey
Great job Casey!
Another great video, helping out some person trying to make it in this world. Glad to see you getting rid of that blazer/jeep/whatever it is vehicle. Alex is a good wingman on your videos.
I've run studded snows for many years on all my vehicles, the only way to go. Fortunately I've been able to source a second set of rims and now days tpms sensors so mine are bolt and go. I do wish someone would come out with a set of the auto chains for 1/2 ton pickups.
Love on-spot chains!👍🏽😊❤️🇺🇸
I once used them in reverse to break while moving forward down and iced over street. It worked.
Nice Land Rover. Definitely built for your location
Studded tires are best on ice. My issue is all the people over here in the Willamette Valley that put studded tires on November 1st and take them off in April for the 3 or 4 days the roads are icy.
I usually leave them on until well into May. I even drove all the way to Utah and went wheeling at Sand Hollow with sky studded tires still on
I've driven a Subaru with studded snow tires and it was so much fun. I envy your property up there. Space to park your stuff and do what you want with it.
Dont envy just make it a goal to get your own.
Haven't heard of tire slashing for quite some time. Let's not get this started 😮
Had studded tires for my 08 trailblazer loved them was worth every penny.
Nice job Casey!!!! Don't worry Casey after all, it is central oregon, and bendits are just getting their snow legs. Slide offs are soon to come. Former ODOT employee be safe out there!
When I drove Towncars for a living the company bought 2 new GMC Denali XL SUVs in December. They went straight to Les Schwab for certified winter tires and studs on all tires. We learned to be fearless with those vehicles. The tow company that owned our Towncar company had trucks stuck all over town, but our SUVs went everywhere without any difficulty at all. You are right. Studs work great, even when worn they are still surprisingly good.
Love the videos where you’re improving your property oddly satisfying 😀😀😀
Goodbye Alex 😅😅😅😅 ooh memories of say goodnight gracie lol
Studs are freaking amazing 100000% agree
You got to Love a landrover, as I have them as my daily drivers for the last 15 years now, sadly you dont get the turbo diesel versions in the USA as they are more common here in the UK and Europe. thanks for the vieo Casey.
I'm driving a 34 year old Range Rover almost daily, but my commute is only 3 miles.
I agree studded tires are great. In Minnesota where I live they are illegal to use on the roads.
I live in the snowbelt of western NY, Studs kick butt, way better than just plain snow tires !
Greetings...thanks for the update. 😊
Studs.. ya depending on the driving you do. I just got the wife a set of Studded winters, but typically she drives icy city streets. Myself, while I do drive the same icy city streets, I also tend to do more deeper snow and bare highway driving, and dragging people out of ditches etc so I think I'd toast studs quite quick. I will say it was funny the other day at a light, Ford Cargo van for a plumping company next to me with studded tires...and I was still on my motorcycle.
Speaking of studded tires, I once studded Michelin tires with 245 Ice racing studs & took 1st place with them on in Our Winter Car Racing Event. They were more pointed than Your normal studs as well as most tires only have 125 studs.
I grew up in the NW. Studded tires are really great in the winter. I had 2 sets of tires for all the daily drivers.
Moved to Texas and every winter tire didn't make it through a single warm spring. Winter tires really don't like mid 90's temperatures...
Have you considered getting a big tarp from Harbor Freight and put it over the bed of your rollback, tie it off to something and if it snows, just drive out from under it. Clean deck every time.
Worked at Timberline Lodge Mt Hood Oregon 20+ years studs where the only way to go on ice covered mountain roads.
Lots of projects 🤙😎
For Land Rovers and especially Smart Cars, I've heard the fast way is to remove a headlight/tail light and feed 12v. That will give enough power to use the power locks, and you're in.
Nice weather for shorts, keep those knees in the breeze!
That snow looks almost light enough to remove with a leaf blower.
great as always great content very entertaining good job
Shorts with snow on the ground. My kind a dude.
Minnesota outlawed them after first trying a seasonal allowance. Problem is they tear up the roads. You could actually see the grooves it was wearing into concrete roadways. A good set of winter tires do amazing. Most folks try to get by with all seasons or off road tires on their 4x4 or AWD vehicles. Anything I wanted to use as a daily driver had two sets of tires/rims. A rear wheel drive with good winter tires are better than a AWD with all seasons.
Same issues with road wear in Oregon, studs still allowed during winter months. They are noisy and increase braking distance on wet pavement, but if you regularly get ice, get studs.
