I had no idea you can run GarageBand on the phone...that's really good to know !! I love your positive energy and the way you're covering all these things especially from a traveling/mobile musician's perspective vs. home studio. I am totally in your camp, MAC BOOK PRO computers are great...yes invest in RAM. I used to work for Apple a few years ago (non-Engineering) and a friend of mine (Mike) I met while riding the bus to Apple designed certain aspects of the MAC Book Pro motherboard...so I am sure he would appreciate what you're saying...I don't buy Windows computers anymore and I only buy Apple because of their quality....though I do have friends who work at Microsoft too. I do run Office365 and am a big SharePoint fan....so both companies offer me something.

I took advantage of all my unemployment money and finally bought the home studio I’ve always wanted. 16 in MacBook Pro, Neumann TLM 102, the newest gen of Scarlett Solo, and vocal booth to top it all off. This is my first time ever working on a Mac and I’m absolutely loving it. I used to try and make shit on Audacity and it was just a total chore.
My setup: - iPad with GarageBand -wireless headphones for recording vocals Just a question, how do u get good quality vocals without a mic on an iPad? Also, I make rap if that changes any tips u have
You can connect edit the audio file in garage band to make the vocals sound better, the newest iPads pro have a studio quality built in microphone but you can always try to record yourself in a couch surrounded by objects to absorb the sound, that will help to reduce the noise and improve the quality vocals
Get a professional quality mic. iPad mics are better than previously but still not recommended for studio quality vocals. You can easily hook up an audio interface to the iPad via usb c and use an XLR Condenser mic.
If not, there’s not really a good way to get good vocals. They’re always going to sound like they’re recorded on a mobile device. Tube sounding and very trebly. There’s no way around that. Not even EQ can take that out. It can help but it will still not sound the best.

Seagate is the brand of the HDD I lost all my data on! Managed to recover it back but paid dearly through the nose for it 😩 SSD only like you recommended before, investing a lil more up front will save your arse, sanity & bank in the longer run 🙏🏽✨
Honestly YES because one of the silver hard drives on my desk is an old seagate that I lost my entire life on when it randomly died. Western Digital as well 😒 this is why I try to use ONLY SSD when I can but in those in between stages when I have like way too many files and not enough storage on an SSD I turn to the traditional HDDs just to hold me off and store my stuff until I can get a larger capacity SSD. I really wanna get my hands on a 8TB cuz I have so much crap to store but that thing is worth almost as much as my MacBook 😂😂🤣 your boy gotta put in some WORK!
@@IAMLXGEND But having limitations really gets you creative, I make the beats and other intruments needed in fl studio mobile and I use the laptop to record vocals on Audacity, and then I mix it in Adobe Audition 1.5 (I can't even run that properly) hopefully I can finish the track soon even with all the drawbacks I faced. I don't even know how I can put my music on streaming platforms, but hey I've reached this far so it's useless to give up now.
I have a MacBook, M-audio microphone(FOAM POP FILTER) with white desk mount, and rode and the M-Audio 192|4 AIR (the mic and audio interface Came in a bundle I think it also came with headphones yeah it did but I choose to use my beats headphones) I think it came with a mixing board and Also for the speaker I use the: ROKT5 i think that’s what it’s called
Thanks for your video. I started just with iPhone and it’s earphones. For now, it’s quiet good. Recently got condensed mic, really good one, but can’t use it🤷🏼♀️ It is catching the sound even from the aquarium far away with noise filter on. Tried to record with comp and cubase, same story((( I guess, I need soundproof environment. But you didn’t mention anything about it. Appreciate, if you point where is my mistake✌🏻
IAMLXGEND True but some prefer the quick handson feel. And for me I can imagine it’s nice for podcasting EQ the sound so no need for post-processing. My main fear is less soundquality.... To your knowledge: are in software effects better sounding than external mixer’s effects? Thnx for the video and response!
in my experience the companies have gotten so good and emulating, the difference is negligible. Of course hardware will sound the best but by how much of a margin... it’s very minute. And yea some do prefer the hands on feel. I’m not one of those people because I’ve never owned hardware aside from a single preamp which never messed with once I set it once. So everything I’ve ever done was through a screen.
I drilled a hole in the top of my shelf and put the cord of my mic through the hole and attached the mic with a bunch of acoustic sound pads inside the shelf highly recommended
I really love you content, first time seeing it, I've always inspired to create beautiful music, but all this are hell out of my budget and it seem discouraging, I'm hustling up to get some basic stream of income. I just hope everyone dreams come true, cause mine will definitely do! Love y'all
Great video! Rip tho I have a MacBook Air. What would you say is the downfall with that? I’ve had it for a few years and it’s still got a lot of life in it so I’m loth to replace it just yet...
Not necessarily a downfall but you're gonna be extremely limited in what all you can do. If you keep your projects really simple, not many plugins or VSTs and effects you should be kind of ok...but I personally would upgrade if I were you.
My setup: Hp Pavillion g4 Maschine mk2 Akai mpk mini II Usb Mic (worst decision ever do not get a usb mic you beginners) Audio technica atx-20s I think Now I’m saving up for a better mic and an audio interface so I can have better recordings just started like 5 months ago not the greatest at making beats but getting there
I’m so hyped for this Christmas cuz welp imma say I looked at my moms amazon account and on her orders I saw a MIDI keyboard, interface, studio monitors , but then I looked at her text and my sister texted her not to buy studio headphones and not to buy a mic cuz she bought one so ya xd
My home setup: MBP 2019 16" i9 Apollo Twin X interface Krk Rokit 8's Blue baby bottle SL microphone Beyerdynamic DT 770 Headphones Lacie 2TB SSD FL Studio signature bundle And hella UA and WAVES plugins and Omnisphere that I bought for no damn reason smh.
Hey @IAMLXGEND not to object on your opinion on not to get Macbook Air but the 2018/2020 Macbook Airs are pretty okay to me ...I use the 2018 model and it runs smoothly I use logic and Reason 11 Propeller and the bounce my music pretty fine but I still wish I bought a Pro but my dad, couldn't afford it. at the moment
This video was made prior to the newer models. They are OK. But still not the greatest. I honestly would prefer to get an iPad Pro over an Air. Or a 13 inch MacBook Pro. You can get started on an Air but once you start having plugin intensive projects or need to add some more effects to your stuff your machine will start to slow down. You don’t have very much head room. Especially if it’s just Quad Core and 8GB RAM.
I just bought a MACBOOK PRO RETINA 2015 model, just getting started setting up a mobile vocal recording set. I work on the road but the dream is in the music right? Wish me luck!
I seen your work on mobile production on GarageBand and it is great, have you ever tried Cubasis 3 for iPad/iPhone? Doesn’t come with a tuner but the antares Autotune is a great auv3 plug-in with it and there are more effect slots and the waves plugins are clutch too with the app. I feel like you’d get a really good quality song out of that app
IAMLXGEND that’s another good one, I would encourage you to try Antares as well still though, I’m sure your ear would notice and appreciate the difference! Appreciate your work btw
Yo lxgend, appreciate the content. love the lights in the background. Could you plug me on what type they there or where I could get some? Looking to do some music videos
How will I connect my electric guitar, acoustic guitar, drum, piano and bass into my studio?? What are the thing that I need for drum to record?? What kind of interface I need to buy to connect every instrument and vocal??
I’m looking at midi keyboards and considering something smalllll, 25 or maybe 49 keys max. I’m a designer, music is purely for fun, so I need my studio to be able to not get in the way too much of my workspace. Do you think I’ll regret not having more than 25 keys? Also if I go ultra portable, what’s your recommendation? That hidden cord wrap feature is dope.
Get a Komplete Kontrol M32 like I have. It’s a good balance between having more than 25 keys and portability. Because it’s actually smaller than most full key size 25 key controllers.
My setup is almost the same, except I use a gaming windows laptop, an akai fire , a Scarlet 2i2, and a Blue Spark SL mic. Is the Bluebird a better mic tho?
I dont believe theres a way to do it for the solo, the only thing I can say is to get a headphone splitter, one pair of headphones for you to monitor and one for tracking the artist or whomever it is that's going to be recording, and unplug your studio monitors until the time comes for you to mix out loud or reference. Hope that I've helped.
I worried a lot about volume with 250 ohm headphones too. Just got the DT 990 pro a few days ago. Even without an amp it got loud enough with just my xbox controller. I also have an Komplete Audio 6 audio interface, and even though alot of people said the volume on the amp is quieter then the scarlett, its more then loud enough. So the Scarlett should do fine!
MIDI Keyboards generally work with any DAW. Any of these will work in basic fashion in FL Studio. But all the buttons may not as they are made specifically for other programs. You’ll have to customize them yourself when you connect it.
Get at least the newest 2020 13 inch MacBook Pro. If you’re looking for something with power but cheaper then a 2018-2020 iPad Pro will be better than a MacBook Air. Airs don’t have the best processors and are too limited in ram.
The Air fckn sucks. It's the last time, that I bought a Macbook Air. Since the quarantane i use it just at home and it makes Problems every day with Using the USB-C and external Monitors, and for sure Problems with Sound and Mic
What is anyone’s opinion on microphone stands, I’m getting a £300 rode microphone, do I need a good stand like a rode boom or would a Amazon one hold just fine with a standard 5/8 or 3/5 adaptor
Hi if anybody could help me out I would be very grateful. I'm a piano and singer and I'm collecting equipment to begin recording my music. I want to buy a keyboard/midi controller and I'm not too sure which is best. I'm not looking for much of the electric sounds just the basic grand piano and maybe add instruments such as drum and bass guitar.

ROKIT KRK 5. I have those.
Thank you for these beginners vid!
You’re welcome! Glad to assist
Wouldn’t you recommend a mixer (with builtin interface) instead of an interface? Or are the dacs not as good as regular interfaces??
Nope. Mixers are built into the software. Never had a need for a hardware mixer.
@@IAMLXGEND Good to hear! Had my eyes set on a Motu M2. It even works on an iPad on the go! :)
I drilled a hole in the top of my shelf and put the cord of my mic through the hole and attached the mic with a bunch of acoustic sound pads inside the shelf highly recommended
Thats a big brain move
IAMLXGEND why thank you sir lxgend
Yo this was so cool! Could you maybe make a video about voloco and best setting for it? Thanks
What setting?
IAMLXGEND
Best*
Love your logo man. How/where did u get it made?
I just went through fonts, found one I liked and arranged the letters as a crest.
Dope bruh!
My set up
(Inginsa mic)
(Old pc that’s in Spanish handy down)
(Soundtrap)
Any means necessary!
Very informative 💪🏽
Glad you think so!
I recommend GarageBand for beginners really easy to pick and record or make beats
I recommend it for everyone lol.
My setup: Hp Pavillion g4
Maschine mk2
Akai mpk mini II
Usb Mic (worst decision ever do not get a usb mic you beginners)
Audio technica atx-20s I think
Now I’m saving up for a better mic and an audio interface so I can have better recordings just started like 5 months ago not the greatest at making beats but getting there
i use the focusrite on a pc. I can attest to the fact that it is a fantastic pre-amp
It is indeed!
Justin Shoemake - FONTAINE can you subscribe to my channel please
I have a Mac mini hooked up to a monitor with a focusrite scarlet 2i2 2nd gen a rode nt 1 with a CAD VocalShield VS1 and A Sterling Pop Filter
Dope!
@@IAMLXGEND thank you
Great video!
Thanks!
My home setup:
MBP 2019 16" i9
Apollo Twin X interface
Krk Rokit 8's
Blue baby bottle SL microphone
Beyerdynamic DT 770 Headphones
Lacie 2TB SSD
FL Studio signature bundle
And hella UA and WAVES plugins and Omnisphere that I bought for no damn reason smh.
Thanks for this Lxgend
You’re more than welcome!
I want to setup studio for NewAge Music, can you help? Thank 🥳🥳🥳
Nice one bro, subscribed
Thanks for the sub
I have a MacBook Pro, an iPad and a RØDE Mic.
Nice
yeah i have a mac, rode mic and artix headphones
Aye this was so cool and helpful, thanks for the awesome video.
Again, you’re welcome! I’m glad they’re helping :)
Fantastic, thanks man!!
Always a pleasure my friend 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🤘🏽
Cool dude....🔥🔥🔥
I just bought a MACBOOK PRO RETINA 2015 model, just getting started setting up a mobile vocal recording set. I work on the road but the dream is in the music right? Wish me luck!
Exactly! good choice man. You'll love it.
Cool video!
Focusrite is the OG
like izotope vinyl
I seen your work on mobile production on GarageBand and it is great, have you ever tried Cubasis 3 for iPad/iPhone? Doesn’t come with a tuner but the antares Autotune is a great auv3 plug-in with it and there are more effect slots and the waves plugins are clutch too with the app. I feel like you’d get a really good quality song out of that app
I have beatmaker 3 and use Voloco for autotune.

The Daniel Cormier of music review gear
Hahahahah not Jon Jones?
Very nice. And yes the Bluebird SL is better.
IAMLXGEND definitely have to cop then
Btw Apple came out with the new MacBook Air this year and it has an option of having a 4 core processor do u still not recommend the MacBook Air?
You a legendary teacher and you make really good music too (been listening on Apple Music) keep up the great content 🙏🏽
Really appreciate you for checking out the music! That is the whole goal so it means a lot.
gotchu brother 👍🏽
Bro you know how I can turn down monitors output while recording and increase the headphone volume while recording with focusrite solo?
I dont believe theres a way to do it for the solo, the only thing I can say is to get a headphone splitter, one pair of headphones for you to monitor and one for tracking the artist or whomever it is that's going to be recording, and unplug your studio monitors until the time comes for you to mix out loud or reference. Hope that I've helped.
Been waiting on this one 😭❤️
Gotta do at least 1 every year! Got a studio renovation coming later in the year. Hopefully to include soundproofing and all that
"drill the nails in" lol
What amp would you recommend for 250+ Ohm cans? Or just use the scarlett 2i2 pre-amp?
I have no idea about ohms. I’m not that technical. Scarlett 2i2 preamps works just fine
So the Scarlett should do fine!
scarletts are pre-amps they wont drive your headphones you need an actual amp to drive them
I use FL Studio as my DAW. Can any of those MIDI keyboards work well with it? Thanks for the video btw!
MIDI Keyboards generally work with any DAW. Any of these will work in basic fashion in FL Studio. But all the buttons may not as they are made specifically for other programs. You’ll have to customize them yourself when you connect it.
IAMLXGEND Ok. Got it. Thank you!
GTA 5 zombie apocalypse in the background 👍🏿😂😂👍🏽
hahahaha you know it
So the MacBook Air isn’t good for making music , I was about to buy one
Get at least the newest 2020 13 inch MacBook Pro. If you’re looking for something with power but cheaper then a 2018-2020 iPad Pro will be better than a MacBook Air. Airs don’t have the best processors and are too limited in ram.
IAMLXGEND Alr thanks man appreciate the advice , gotta keep grinding to buy me them things 💯
The Air fckn sucks. It's the last time, that I bought a Macbook Air. Since the quarantane i use it just at home and it makes Problems every day with Using the USB-C and external Monitors, and for sure Problems with Sound and Mic
Luc Besson Alr thank you , now Ik wassup
I mean shoreline mafia made Musty and Bottle service on a MacBook
My setup is potato laptop that have to use a fan to cool it down,FL studio demo, voice recording via mobile, and 12 dollars earphone
I love my 2012 MacBook Pro it has 8gb of ram and an i5
What is the easiest 49-61 key midi for a beginner??
Word!
Can you suggest me some nice microphone with low budget to be used with focusrite solo interface?
Would highly recommend the blue spark! Or a Samson Co1 🔥
NoiCe … Thanx Man … PeaCe
What is anyone’s opinion on microphone stands, I’m getting a £300 rode microphone, do I need a good stand like a rode boom or would a Amazon one hold just fine with a standard 5/8 or 3/5 adaptor
Hi if anybody could help me out I would be very grateful. I'm a piano and singer and I'm collecting equipment to begin recording my music. I want to buy a keyboard/midi controller and I'm not too sure which is best. I'm not looking for much of the electric sounds just the basic grand piano and maybe add instruments such as drum and bass guitar.
Midi controllers don't come with sounds. If you're looking with something that has built in sounds look up something like a Yamaha: amzn.to/2UNy9GL
IAMLXGEND thank you!
Thank you for this video 💯 just subscribed 🙏🏽 really helpful, keep up the good work and content !
my setup:
an imac from 2016
