Hi BJ, don't feel bad about your time line. I'm 8 months into my CBX build and just finished the engine. hope to have it finished by the end of the year, HA.
I think what's given the CBX restoration such interest from my persective, is what's already happened. Seeing you unsieze it, then have it lock, and delve deeper into the engine, was fascinating. The further you went into the engine, the more addictive the viewing became, while also marvelling at your skill. I think everyone is now wishing you the best with it. On a side note and not a suggestion. I have seen a few CBX vids since seeing yours, due to the UA-cam algorithm. It's left me wanting to see a CBX restoration upgrade certain parts. Not that I want to see yours necessarily do that, as you have your own plans. I'd like to see a CBX where the brakes were updated to modern equipment like Brembo. Plus it would be nice to see the front forks replaced if that were possible. Some of the new Big Piston Separate function Forks. The existing forks a scarily narrow, and a CBX got new brakes more force would be exerted on the forks. ... While it might seem sacrelidge to restore a bike like a CBX with new parts. This kind of restoration/conversion is done with cars like Jaguar E-types, and Aston Martin DB5. New brakes, new suspension, chassis reinforcement, engine rework. What you end up with is a superlative example of a car which is a perfect, solid, road ready machine. E.g. Here is an E-type Jaguar series 3 restored with new parts. Bear in mind the series 3 is less well regarded next to the series 1 and 2. Hell's teeth though, 'look at it' 😮. It's restored by E-Type UK and called the Unleashed. ua-cam.com/video/r3JRHXGaMAQ/v-deo.html This second video on this E-Type Unleashed explains what's mechanically and restoratively been done with it. ua-cam.com/video/fG-HsdE-5oo/v-deo.html There's also the E-Type Eagle Speedster. Sadly this video is ruined by the mouth of the presenter. He thinks he's the star of the show. There's two E-Types in this vid, and the Eagle is the second one. Still the car is incredible. ua-cam.com/video/66owXqZaexs/v-deo.html On a side note. I would not want to own one of those gorgeous E-Types, because I would be too scared to drive it. Can't help thinking a Honda CBX - Unleashed type restoration would be some incredible. Like an almost other worldy motorcyle. Something to really want to own and ride. Best of luck with yours.
