I like how Scarface, The Goodfellas, The Godfather, Reservoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction, The Sopranos, Breaking Bad, Peaky Blinders are all fictional depiction of criminals, that a lot of people had watched in a very young age, and are pretty much seen as great pieces of art in general, but as soon as the same things are depicted in videogames, than its the end of the world.

Video games are kind of different though because you're actively a part of it, whereas watching a movie is passive
Yeah I don't understand this crusade against video games either. Especially considering that movies and rap music is a thing that exists. Why aren't those two forms of media criticized the same way video games are?
Those movies didn't have someone randomly running over innocents and blowing civilians up like a psycho. Not saying that to be like "See GTA is so much worse it should be banned" I'm just saying the things that can be done in the game and what you see in those movies are very different, so not really comparable.
Most, if not all, of the movies & shows you listed kicked up their own controversies over content... they were just pre-internet/social media so it was much easier to ignore the handful of snowflakes who were stomping their feet.
The Tates, Elon, and Ian are all real life examples of characters that would be in GTA.

The funny thing is that if any game should be considered purely controversial and responsible for possibly "promoting gratuitous violence and murder," it would be Hatred. Now, I'm not for that game being banned either, though I do distinctly remember it being temporarily removed from the Steam store. Nonetheless, the very point of that game IS to murder civilians and police and slaughter them en masse. Honesty, it makes for a pretty fucking boring and stupid game really. As the whole purpose of that game was to be controversial and created for shock value. The actual gameplay is just a of a 2D/3D top down view from the side, while doing nothing with the main character or giving much motivation to him, besides simply allowing you kill with abandon.
It's considered rightfully stupid and silly by most of the gaming community exactly because it takes the most boring aspects of violent video games and makes them the point of the game. At least in GTA or Postal, killing cops or civilians can be done in a humorous and comical manner. Hatred seems to play it all straight, which naturally makes it actually off-putting and gratuitous. If anything, it proves how such video games that COULD be accused of promoting such violence would actually deter people precisely because they aren't fun, they're just simply violent for violence's sake, which doesn't appeal to the average person. People like playing puckish rogues or morally grey protagonists. Or at least villain protagonists with redeeming traits. The protagonist of Hatred (who's name is appropriately "Not Important") has NONE.

I'll never understand the idea of people projecting their own morals onto video games, then expecting those games to adhere to those morals. It's never made any sense to me that some people treat these games as if the things that you do in them are a reflection of your real life morals.
The morals they want to sell they have, you mean, because I can assure you those are not their actual morals. That ambulance chaser, for example, he'd sell his mother and firstborn for 15 minutes of fame, but draws the line at playing Counter Strike? Where you can actually play as law enforcement as well, btw. Or the eternal recipient of Elon's teabag. The reasons you listed are WHY they are probably against the game.
Because the odds that they won't be parodied in it is low to non-existent.
I mean GTA being the series that loves to parody celebs, and 6 having a woman as a protagonist, it's free and easy real-estate to have some Alpha Male goblin somewhere in the game that looks, sounds and acts like just enough like Andrew for it to be obvious it's him while still being "Lawyer Friendly" so they can make jokes at the expense of him and his incel, woman hating cult.

Actually, there is an issue the government could fix.

My first GTA was San Andreas and I was in elementary school. I remember trying to obey traffic laws.

if a media is rated for adults then children have no business consuming said content. now if a media is rated for 13+ but has serious adult content then that is a problem. but if they dont false advertise their stuff then its 100% okay and the responsibility falls on the parents/guardians

To be fair, in the older gta games you could lose a 6 star wanted level by going to your safehouse. You could either save the game which would clear the stars or you could change your clothes, which would act like a pay n' spray
I remember you could go to the car shops too in order to lose your wanted level or use bribes in the very original ps1 game.
i swear in single player gta 5 you can still do it with more restrictions.
you can still save your game to reset the wanted level but you still need to lose sight of the cops first

It would be perfect that each character had their own game progress/story, like Resident Evil 2, with exclusive missions depending on you chose, but I really doubt they would go there for a "open world" game.
The trailer has me even more hyped than I initially was. City looks beautiful, dense and full of things to do. I really can’t wait to see the dynamic between the two main characters and how that plays out
My only slight worries are the fact it’s pretty likely to be 30fps (although red dead 2 is 30 and looks great still) and Dan Houser probably had zero input on the writing overall

I’d imagine it’ll be like other big Xbox Series X and PS5 releases and have the option between Performance mode for 60fps and slightly lower visuals or Fidelity mode for 30fps but the best visuals
GTA 5 already has this option on the XSX/PS5 versions so it’s likely to be in GTA 6 too i think, so you can choose to have either a faster frame rate or have the maximum graphics

Beyond punishing you for doing crime, what really is anti-crime about GTA is every, without exception, every GTA protagonist is a miserable person. There are no GTA protagonists that experience a moment of happiness. It's the whole point of the franchise. It's a game about bad people with bad lives.

My grandpa is a gamer, and has been as long as I can remember so he was always well aware of what games were rated for adults and which ones weren't. He gave me my love for games, comics, cartoons, etc. He never ever bought me/let me buy a game that he felt was inappropriate for my age. He also could not stop me from playing GTA and games that were not made for a 12 year old at a friends or cousins house. 😂

I also hope GTA6 keeps the "people wasted" statistic. It's an odd thing but it's always interesting to see what your body count is while you play.
The definitive editions removed "people wasted" from statistics, making your rampages not have any value towards your statistics which is kind of boring. Like playing a game with no scoreboard.
Actually that does sound like a cool way the story could go, by the end of the game you become a fully fledged crime boss.

after 10 years, I replayed GTA 5 and had the idea "what if I play as if these characters were real?"
I've tried obeying traffic laws, which doesn't ever last long, and in general just killing as few people as possible, especially no killing civilians.
It is a different game when you try to play it like this, especially because you are often left with no car when a mission is over. I've never called a taxi so many times in GTA lol
Playing this way does make you get immersed in the world of the game.
@@WokioWolfy I miss being reckless and just going for crazy stunts, but it feels really satisfying to switch to 1 of the main characters and try to act how they would. In my playthrough, Trevor is surprisingly nice haha, but I make sure to act crazy because he does act crazy.

I have never seen a game rated Adults Only ever in my life….. until a controversy involving GTA San Andreas. I was seeing that game have an AO rating sticker over the M rating on a new game in a store and it was all because of that Hot Coffee mod. Boy have we had a lot of controversies involving GTA, but does it stop me from playing this series since the very first game? Absolutely not! It’s my escape from what we call the real world.
Assuming the context isn't lost in the clip... that Timcast guy must've never grown out of that phase where girls were considered humans without muscles in his eyes. Which means he's still like 5yrs old in that aspect. A lot of the people claiming GTA VI is woke cuz female protagonist, remember that we've been able to create our own female avatar in GTA IV Multiplayer, had an option to play Female in the FIRST GTA, and that Catalina who is a woman, was one of the most unhinged characters in the whole franchise and she was the main antagonist in GTA III back in 2001.

Some of my favorite examples as someone who is a Christian is Queen Esther who foiled a planned Genocide against the Jews, the Prophetess Deborah (yes there were female Prophets) whom God used to set her people free and defeat the King of Canaan at the time, and one of the best ones was it was women (Mary Magdalene) who witnessed the Risen Jesus first and spread the word about it.

i remember buying GTA5 days before it released and i live in UAE (united arab emirates).
the game is banned here but literally everyone in my generation played it, like no joke everyone. they also played red dead 1 and 2. its a big reason why alot of people are gamers because they tried GTA and they liked gaming especially the roleplaying aspect of GTA5 is popular here.
i dislike the idea of banning games, recently there have been 21+ rating on games which is "mature" rating, which is a great way to sell the game here while also letting parents know the contents of the games.

What I want for GTA 6 are more organic interactions with the world outside of the missions, I loved the convenience store robbery system from GTA online I want that but bigger, like some simpler small heists that you can do organicaly on the world
