I'm a CSA survivor, and as stupid and edgy I knew his videos are, I still wanted to believe there was some truth to them because I desperately needed to think these monsters would be stopped forever. So I looked up to him a lot for a big part of my teenage years.
Now seeing everything is fake makes my stomach turn.
Giving so many damaged people the hope that this could be stopped, but doing nothing about it... It just feels like having salt rubbed into a wound, so it never heals.
Exactly how I felt. Discovered him and I felt so much comfort as someone who has gone through the things he preached he was “setting out to stop”. Taking a step back and seeing everything for how it is makes me feel so embarrassed

I was groomed as a young teenager, too. The guy was like this "cult leader" too, he was this guy in his 20s who claimed to be a vampire.
When this story first broke, I was saddened by everyone just automatically assuming the accuser was lying, going "hard evidence" this, "hard evidence" that. When I was groomed, I didn't even know that what was happening to me WAS grooming, that's the entire reason why guys target young girls for that purpose. Also, it happened before the internet was a widespread thing. How could I be expected to go back and get evidence of that? It's absurd to expect young girls to have the foresight and the wherewithal to automatically mistrust someone they're close to and record every single interaction with everyone, just in case. And it's not like the internet doesn't have a marked history of being misogynistic and disregarding most victims without even bothering to hear their story.
But watching this video, all I feel is a pit in my stomach. If it's all fabricated, that's so incredibly damaging to people like you and me. Because this is so high profile, It just means more victims will be ignored and even flat out turned against by the masses, something I know can be more than enough to drive them to do something drastic, like...um... "Self Crit" (thanks youtube for taking away our voices and not able to mention important topics).
It's hard not to feel hopeless in the face of all this.

I found him by his Kanye Quest video, and I remember really liking that and subscribing. But after I saw him doing the creepyvoice over real issues and handling them like spooky campfire stories, I unsubbed. There's a time and place for sure. When it was just about video games, I thought it was kinda funny and a fitting voice for the type of content it was, since a creepy easter egg in an RPGmaker horror game is already not that scary, but I felt such genuine ick when I saw him try to cover real situations in the same way.

what really irked me about mamamax and made me unsubscribe was how his recent videos were filled with weird artistic editing and spooooky cult imagery, and then only like, three minutes of it were ACTUALLY dedicated to the victims and the situation at hand. it felt like it was much more about him and his evergrowing hero complex than it ever was about bringing a predator to justice.

I'm a CSA survivor, I was abused by a member of my family for years until I left my home and cut ties with my entire family at 18.
When I discovered Mamamax's channel, it was almost a revelation. Finally! someone was giving a shit about us, someone who didn't care about the bad buzz or the backlash, he was going all in for us no matter what.
His videos were extremely cathartic for me, I never got justice because when I went to the police station at 21 years old to file a complaint I didn't have any evidence or proof of what happened, the abuse had happened a decade ago, I didn't have any pictures or videos or anything other than my testimony with me. Ultimately, it was my word against my abuser's and my complaint was dismissed. I knew it would happen, I was devastated anyway. So his style of editing, with the violent imagery of Hotline Miami and the baseball bats and the fact that, maybe, the guys in his videos were getting what they deserved calmed my anger for a little while because God knows I dreamt of doing it to my abuser more times than I can count.
Now I feel used. I feel like my trauma was used for fame and recognition, that our stories were only there to feed his ego and his online persona. That behind every CSA survivor was a potential ego boost for him. Knowing that he lied, probably created things and made us believe it was true just... I was going to write "disappoint me" but we're way past disappointment. I kinda feel numb. And stupid for putting my trust in a random stranger on the internet, enough to subscribe to his Patreon for a year and give him money just to deceit us. Of course it was too good to be true. I was blinded by my trauma and my need for justice like many others and he took advantage of this to build an entire fanbase. It's sick. I feel sick.

I'm a victim of CSA and CSAM. I don't have enough evidence to bring a case against my abuser, because I deleted and destroyed everything related to him out of shame, fear, and anger. It was a mistake, but it's too late now. I do NOT think my word should be enough to get him locked up, even though I would like him removed from society until he is no longer a danger. For my family and friends, I'd like them to believe me based on my testimony, at least enough to offer comfort - but in a court of law, it's a different story.
EXACTLY. When someone close to me shares that they were abused by another person, I will believe them unless proven otherwise. In a court of law, it is very different, as false accusations are often life ruining and the law system wants to make sure an accusation has actual merit and evidence backing it up before punishing the person accused.

Even if she didn't do that, most of her audience are actual children who would likely find something like this to be very jarring and not entirely understand what's going on; it would be a complete clash with her typical content. The waivers that McKamey manor uses aren’t exceptions, etc. You can’t just write a contract or NDA that allows you to break the law or to abuse others. How Max doesn’t understand that is beyond me.

The fact that anyone still believes Spencer et al are actual victims and not actors in his "film production" still baffles me. I cannot understand why anyone doesn't get that the entire thing is fake. Max has never produced any evidence against anyone and has said in calls to assume that EVERYTHING in his videos is fake except "the person being an abuser." There is no cult. There are no victims. The whole thing was fictional from day one.
A thought just occured, he spent hours writing letters to youtubers, if he really cared, he'd spend that time writing the POLICE and filing a real report.

It's fucking up a potential case, but it's not vigilantism. Vigilantism is dealing out your own justice, so to speak, with violence (intimidation might also count depending on country, region yadda yadda).
The problem is that by making it such a big deal trying to blast it all over the internet, without going to the police (they should've been involved from the start) and you have an actual predator on your hands, they are just going to leave the country or go low profile until it dies down. Maybe because you brought attention to this tragic situation, livestreamed with one of the victims multiple times while trying to contact popular internet creators, and is known to have a yt channel that posts about this topic. Like who the fuck else's job would it be. He did a horrible job informing people about the facts on this issue without the bare minimum of proof to back it all up. What I personally hate about all of this is how he has been parading one of the victims. Having her defend him when he is cornered to a wall with speculations and criticism. He is a disgraceful humanbeing for his poor handling of this very serious issue.

There's a news story out there about how a lawyer got in serious trouble after letting Chat GPT write up a legal brief for him. He never checked the cited court cases, and it turns out not a one of them existed. It could be pulling legal advisement from other countries. It puts together words based on prompts. It can be and likely is entirely wrong about very important aspects of what he's claiming.

@duukn The video itself IS evidence of a crime. You don't need to be speaking to the police, for the NDA to be voided. All you have to do, is present the video (or any evidence) and THEN go to the police at any point in time with the video (or any evidence of a crime) and the pending lawsuit will be stayed, pending the outcome.

I know I’m late but, here’s what pisses me off the most. From investigation to the final verdict, you cannot screw anything up.
Like you said, The instant you go public, you’re on a timer. They can destroy evidence, fabricate alibi, and think about counter-arguments. And if they do, now you have potentially less evidence to work with.
Evidence can be thrown out due to technicalities. If it was obtained illegally, or might’ve been handled improperly, you could easily have it be dismissed and inadmissible.
Convincing the jury isn’t going to be a cakewalk either. You’ll need to convince them that the events happened, and the moment you bring up that it involved a werewolf cult, you’re probably already losing the jury.
All of this is important to get right the first time. Think of the quote “if you come for the king, you beat not miss”. Because if you fail to convince all 12 jury members, then that’s it. They escaped justice. You don’t get a redo. The victims will never get justice for their experiences. Even if they eventually get arrested for future charges, it could’ve been stopped.
Even if they get convicted of 3 criminal counts, it could’ve been 4. It’s not, potentially because of how Max handled it. That’s what pisses me off. If max genuinely cared, then go to the freaking police.

Initially he probably wanted Charlie to run with this but became frustrated because Charlie couldn't devote the time to it due to his lack of response from covid. It's crazy how he put this off for three years then expected Charlie and Muta to be like, sure we'll take up the slack for the complete insanity you made of what could be a real case. Plus the expectations that this should go to UA-camrs really compounds on Max's complete inability to take any of this seriously. The guy's Ego is through the roof.

He took and continues to take advantage of sexual abuse victims to line his pockets. As a r*pe victim myself, I feel incredibly betrayed and heartbroken. He ACTIVELY took money from REAL victims while parading around a hero complex that was undeserved. He revictimized thousands of people. He stole money from victims and made us feel used and vulnerable all over again. I genuinely have the same pit in my stomach that I feel when thinking about my r*pe. I feel used just like I did before. What he did is sickening.
I am so sorry this has affected you so deeply. As a former subscriber of Max, I am also horrified and feel betrayed and lied to. If he could do something like this, it makes me reconsider all of the allegations his ex's made about him
I really wish we could protect vulnerable people on YT from feeling like they can trust these self-made e-celebs over and over and getting disappointed and re-victimized all over again. it isn't people's fault but we can't keep acting surprised either..it's a problem. We come here expecting things to be surface value, with some intimate moments with watching something grow. Turns out, its all personas. It's hard for SA victims, because YT thrives off of the same thing r*pists do. Exploitation of your desperation to be away from whatever it was that was going on before you ran into them.
i’m so sorry. i am also a r*pe survivor and i think what he did is incredibly cruel, wrong and unfair. i felt betrayed and heartbroken over other survivors and victims as well.
I think the best way to describe how important this was to Max is to ask him the question "if this did indeed go to court and you had to testify on the witnesses behalf would you ask the judge if you could testify with a voice changer?"

LegalEagle made a video on this ages ago. Actual lawyers have been disbarred for using ChatGPT, because ChatGPT will regularly just make up cases and cite them as sources in legal arguments. ChatGPT does not "understand the legal system." It doesn't "understand" anything. Half the time it's basically just procedurally generating actual gibberish.
Which is also funny considering Max had a whole bit about the dangers of AI contributing to exploitation. I mean, what do you expect from the guy who believes someone's MEMORY is enough to warrant as evidence?
Well, obviously Max operates on the principle of "rules for thee, not for me." In other words, his warnings about AI don't seem to apply when he's the one using it.
And just to reiterate in case anyone's wondering; ChatGPT *cannot provide* effective legal counseling. It has been caught literally just fabricating cases and precedents. AI "hallucinations" are a fascinating but alarming issue that is rarely spoken of, even though a lot of people are excitedly rushing to implement AI tools and solutions into all aspects of everyday life. As an educator myself, I genuinely worry that the views expressed by Max - that AI can and should be trusted even in cases where its use is of real consequence to real people - are gaining a lot of traction; particularly among the young crowd that he appeals to, who seem increasingly convinced that you barely need any education whatsoever when an app can generate solutions for you.@@rnpee
I tried using GPT to help remember the name of an obscure album (Jun Fukumachi - Starview) and at first it suggested real albums by similar artists, but it devolved into GPT suggesting albums that do not exist but really sound like they could exist, with album names that sound like the respective artist would come up with.
Yep. AI will do that and no one knows why. And that's why you still shouldn't use it as anything other than a glorified search engine, or at least verify what its saying. I feel weirdly proud of myself for seeing Mamamax’s video pop up on my Recommended back when it had the “greatest cancellation of all time” title, I looked at that title and thought “ehh, that’s probably clickbait. I’ma skip that one.”
