He's the kind of guy who's like "This is so stupid and I am madly in love with it" (which honestly sums up every KH fan's relationship with the games, including myself, and I mean that with great adoration for all its exasperatingly overcomplicated silliness)
As much as people love to clown on the series as a whole, I still think KH1 is a genuinely good game. The simple joy of not having to play a Gameboy game, two DS games, one PSP game, and two different mobile games just to understand the plot is something I deeply cherish.
I like KH2 over KH1. But KH1 does have: the Tarzan world a better mermaid world Jafar Genie as a boss Maleficent Dragon as boss Cherenebog boss. And I think those are missing from other entries in the series. Those were cool

Just the long clips of arin laughing alone in a room for minutes on end. Then slowly the camera pans out, revealing the room he was in all along was a stage set, and all of the other grump members are splayed out in different places along the studio, the further it zooms out, the more gore is revealed to the camera, as Arin's sob laughing intensifies in the distance.
I've tried watching the full stream vod so many times over, but between the nightmare of finding a right video and the 20+ hours of stream, let's just say this video will actually be watched. Would love to see both Grumps play through one of the Kingdom Hearts games. Even if it's just one more video of Kingdom Hearts 3. Love ya, guys.

Sora's heartless also does actually come back in a "true form" so to speak, in one of the spinoffs. The data version of it in Coded is Darkside, the first boss you fight inside Sora's mind in the kh1 intro. I always assumed that was meant to imply it's what he'd become as a Heartless, so it was cool to have it confirmed. I guess maybe he was just a Shadow here cos it's meant to be Sora's goodness still fighting back and limiting its power? Or else they just didn't have the budget to make a player-sized version of that big boss with all new walk animations just for a five minute sequence.
